Thanks for coming by! My vast company firm, Corn from a … just kidding. I’m an average guy with some average guns. This channel is made for the average firearms enthusiast and owner, just some simple insights, tips, and ideas I have come across over the years. Not everyone who owns a firearm or participates in shooting sports is a top tier marksman or world champion expert and hope my average joe experience can relate with you.
I am not a gunsmith, firearms instructor, or expert certified in anything. I am a busy, working father of three and fortunate to enjoy this hobby which I am sharing with you.
My channel is family friendly, safe, and straightforward with no explosions, unsafe practices, or outlandish shenanigans. I’ll share with you some knowledge around firearms and specific outdoor products as well as an occasional project around the house.
Enjoy and be sure to drop me a comment!

Colt 1903 Rangetime!
Just a simple range tripof a “new” firearm I picked up recently at a gunshow.
This is the first time in about 15 years I’ve owned or shot a 32 caliber pistol. It was an interesting experience. After a thorough strip, examination, and cleaning, I deemed the weapon safe to shoot.
I am not a qualified gunsmith or firearm technician, I am simply sharing with you the way I do this procedure to take care of mine.

Just a simple view of a “new” firearm I picked up recently at a gunshow. Like most people in the southeast, Helene has been in the way here lately keeping me busy at work. I hope to get this one out at the range soon for some testing and good footage. A POV example of the Beretta 92 at the range. The older 92S magazine release is at the bottom of the grip, known as a “heel” release. It does take a little practice but it is a well balanced and reliable firearm. Beretta 92 Field Strip How to!
Переглядів 2986 місяців тому
A simple step-by-step of how I disassemble my Beretta 92 (field strip) for cleaning and maintenance according to historical US Army Doctrine. The Beretta 92 featured in this video is an early model and I point out the heel magazine release and one side safety. Beretta 92 frames are similar regardless of the model so this procedure should be similar for most models. I am not a qualified gunsmith...

Last time i shot that ammo through my m1 it was way over pressured. Gun was jamming like crazy and i had a hard primer strike and ejector mark
That stance is definitely interesting
How come nobody said a word about moving the front sight?
How do you go about getting this course as a 11B ? Are there any pre reqs?
Missed out on my first ever M17 qual for a course I was voluntold for. Bummed cuz I shot 42/42 at the EST and wanted to see how well it translated to live-fire.
Eventually you’ll get another chance if you stay in long enough. Thanks for coming by!
Excellent video. Thank you

Is it for sale
No it isn’t sorry! Thanks for coming by!
I have one manufactured in 1908. Still in great condition and working order.
Thanks for sharing!
Nice old pistol. Oil shoot repeat.

I have gone to a Garand Gear Ported Gas Plug. It is a hollow plug that you do not have to fool with adjustments and lowers the initial pulse of the round going off because it expands upon the gas tube length. I am not affiliated with them in anyway I just know it works because I use it. Not to mention they test MANY off the shelf ammo with their product using scientific methods recording the initial pulse. They tell you what ammo is good and what ammo is on the hotter side. Even with that because I want my Garand to be around long after I am gone I still only use M1 Specific ammo. We would love to see you and your Garand enter the Veterans Day Challenge coming up ua-cam.com/video/eCpgFYqpNos/v-deo.html
Very interesting I didn’t know they made one. Money is already spent for this one so I doubt I’ll buy a second plug but if I ever get another Garand I will definitely try out the one from Garand Gear. I’ve done a short dive into the Veteran’s Day Challenge- I had never even heard of that! If I can get to the range in the next week or so I may have to give it a whirl! Thanks for suggesting it and I really appreciate you coming by!

A gun for an era when men had deeper pants pockets! Also, what is your impression about how it feels in the hand?
Honestly it feels more comfortable than my PPK/s. It reminds me a little bit of a Glock 43 or similar, modern polymer pistol as far as dimensions and presence. I’ve tried to imagine who or how this gun would’ve been carried or used for self-defense. Obviously people didn’t have inside the waist band holsters back then not like we think of them now. Although Patton carried one Mexican Style from time to time, and a lot of gangsters probably did as well. Thanks for Coming by!
@@cornfromajar3222 As I said, pockets used to be deeper back in the day. I have slacks with the 1920's / 30's pocket depths and I can fit a full size 1911 in them and not have it sticking out at all. You put a cell phone over it and, though it looks a bit odd, the gun itself does not print. They just made mens pants pockets different back in the day.
Thanks!

No one uses Luberplate grease anymore. Thats what we used in recruit training at MCRD & Edison Range Camp Pendleton MCB
I thought about checking into it myself, that’s what the CMP recommends. As you seen the video I just use outer choke and tube grease. Thanks for coming by!
Only $50? During that time here in BC Canada I payed $105 for a box of 20 30 06 165 grain. Ya it sucked
Ouch! Thanks for coming by!
Ages ago I was using Czech ammo in my M-1 Garand -it was fine, then I switched to Federal ammo 150 grain. I fired off one round and saw stars. I could not believe the recoil. There is quite a difference between Garand ammo and hunting ammo. Many people will tell you that they are the same.
You’ve got that right. Thanks for coming by!
I fired commercial grade ammo when I was a rookie, I ruined my op rod, and broke firing pins. Use the right ammo fellas, or reload following the manual precisely. Screw that adjustable gas plug.
Thanks for sharing and thanks for coming by!
I've been shooting one of these for 20 years, even in service rifle competition. Never knew you could load a Garand that way. Great video.
Thanks for coming by!
A bit older video but if any one sees the mec gar mags are oem walther mags. I've got one of each and the number etchings are exactly the same as well as both have a letter a on the front strap of the mag. They are quality mags.
Thanks for coming by!
Also, once you have set your battle sight zero, you can re zero the sights. Simply loosen the rear sight adjustment tension screw, then bottom out the sight and however many clicks up it took to zero it, go down that exact number of clicks past the battle sight mark on the drum and retighten it. This way your battle zero sight is set to your particular rifle. I used to build and shoot M1 Garands in NRA high power competition, it was a lot of fun, I really miss it. Good video 🇺🇸⚓️💪👍
If you have done the battle sight zero method (as explained in the video), theoretically you are now sighted in at 250yds. So why wouldn’t you leave the sight where it is, loosen the elevation knob, and move the drum (without moving the sight) to the 250yd mark (actually between the “2” and next lineup) and tighten the drum. That way you have a 250yd zeroed rifle with the rear sight drum set on the proper setting for 250yd. Then if you want to shoot at 100yds, move the drum to the 100yd mark.
Very informative. Thanks!

Took my ol Aug of 43 gal out the other day. Never shot her past 100, taken a few deer with her but never shot further. The range had steel out to 300 and one that was super narrow only few inches wide at 300. Blew my mind how easy it was to shoot out to 300 with the irons and hit everytime. Out of all the rifles we had out there new and old, she was by far the easiest to shoot at distance, even including one colt AR with a 4x acog. Something magical about the m1s
Yes there is! Thank you for sharing and thanks for coming by!

It takes you two hands to shoot that small pistol?,you're worst than a woman....
Thank you for the details and explanation of everything! No one else on Utube is nearly as informative.
Thanks for coming by!
Didn’t like mine. Slide would always bite my hand. Never had another gun do that. I own a few PPs in .32 auto and neither do that 🤷🏼♂️
I’ve heard that from time to time. The edges are a little rough and the 380 is enough to make it hazardous to your hands especially if you don’t have small hands. Thanks for coming by!
👍👍
Thanks for coming by!
So cool.

Got a fully engraved Galesi with mammoth grips. Fully engraved Astra as well. Love them pocket pistols. Had never seen am extended mag on one, though! That's awesome! Most pistols with the European style mag catch don't have that option, but I did find a custom 15 round mag for my Walther P38, which is wonderful

*Enjoyed video immensely* *Called CMP Custom Shop to place order for 308 Garand* *Only negative was their installing adjustable gas block* *Your video clarified any concerns with DIY installation* *Thank you for the information*
I’ve never seen a 308 Garand in person. I would assume that it’s the same process but I can’t say for certain without seeing it myself. Good luck and thanks for coming by!
Hello! My name is Artem. I'm from Ukraine. Recently I got a gun permit and bought myself an M1A Springfield rifle. As I really like American weapons and in particular M1A. Today, I went to the shooting range with M1A for the first time. After the seventh magazine was fired, there was a problem. After the magazine runs out of cartridges, the bolt locks up. I pull the magazine out of the chamber and the bolt unintentionally comes off the delay. When I try to put the bolt on delay without the magazine in the chamber, the bolt does not lock in the rear position, but comes off the bolt lock button. There was also a case, after firing the last cartridge from the magazine, the bolt was in the delayed position. I took out an empty magazine. When the magazine was inserted into the chamber, the bolt unintentionally released from the delay and ejected the cartridge into the chamber. After shooting, I disassembled the rifle at home for cleaning. After cleaning, I reassembled the rifle and tried to put the bolt back on the bolt without the magazine in the chamber. Again, the bolt does not lock in the rear position. When I tried to put the bolt on delay, the bolt is released. In our country, such a rifle as M1A is rare and exclusive. There is practically no information on its operation and functioning. I decided to turn to you! Please tell me if you have encountered such nuances when using M1A. Is this problem like my rifle normal or is it really a malfunction of mechanisms? Thank you in advance for the answer!
Well Artem, I have heard of this problem very rarely. My first suggestion is to try a few different magazines just in case this may be the problem. It’s not uncommon to have a lot of issues due to a faulty magazine. My 2nd suggestion, if different magazines don’t solve the problem would be to replace the bolt stop. That’s the switch/lever that locks the bolt to the rear after you fire the final cartridge in a magazine. I’ve never replaced that piece myself and if it were in the USA, I would take it to a gunsmith for evaluation. I don’t know what the situation is like there however and if you can’t repair it you may have to choose between selling it for a different rifle or accepting the way it is. I wish I could be more helpful but I have to make some guesses since I haven’t actually seen the rifle in person. Best of luck, I hope you are able to fix it! Thanks for coming by!
@@cornfromajar3222Hello, I really appreciate your response! I took my rifle to a good gunsmith yesterday. He checked it out. And determined the problem. Because the bolt will not engage when the firing pin is installed and locked. It was found out that it presses the mechanisms of the rifle and therefore the bolt will not engage without magazine in the shaft. I contacted Springfield with this issue the same day as you did. But there was no response from Springfield. I will keep the rifle as I have come to terms with this problem over the past few days. It is very difficult to buy such a rifle in Ukraine, because for the last 5 years, only one gun company brought 5 such rifles, I managed to buy one. If you are interested, I will add a link to the UA-cam video I posted for Sprinild. Thank you again for your reply! I wish you all the best! 1. ua-cam.com/video/qpNa3FoAEnE/v-deo.htmlsi=VyllgQKhvsfvOBtH 2. ua-cam.com/video/JHlxumEp6b4/v-deo.htmlsi=l7nGtdv9H6wb4Shn
I had one of the originals before the safety was on the slide. and the thumb safety on the frame. I thought the plastic grips were kind of cheesy but back in '83 there were no custom wood grip replacements. So I ordered Taurus wood grips and they fit perfectly. I never minded the heel mag release. Kept me from dropping the very hard to get mags onto the pavement. Later I got another Beretta but made in Brazil. "Dupla Acao" on the box. Wish I had it now.
If we only had every gun we’d sold or traded away! Thanks for sharing and thanks for coming by!
@@cornfromajar3222 Years ago there was a writer for one of the gun magazines named Jim Carmichael who, when asked if he regretted selling any guns he once owned, said "Every one, without exception". Sure made me think about it.
Love my 92S. 💯👍😎
Thanks for coming by!
What holster is that you are using?
That is a canvas inside the waistband holster I bought from Amazon years back. I don’t recall the brand and I tried to look back and see what it was, but no luck. Thanks for coming by!
No worries! Just bought a vintage PPK/S at an auction that has a bit of rust on the trigger guard, so I ran across your video. Also looking for a good small waistband holster.
why would you load like that?
1. To conserve ammo. When I woke up at 48 round clip, I’m too tempted to blast away. 2. I was hoping to teach others this technique. They may not know to load a few rounds at a time in there. Thanks for coming by!
Excelente video, fue de bastante ayuda.
Gracias! gracias por pasar!
As the new owner of a model 916 this video is really helpful. Also enjoyed seeing you respond to all the comments. Cheers!

Bringing my first M1 Garand out to the range tomorrow for the second time. First M1 Garand I ever fired was a friends. It was at the tail end of a WW2 shoot at the club I’m a member of. They had packed away the targets. I just fired 8 rounds into the berm. I instantly got the burning desire to own one and found a great specimen. The first time I took it out I barely touched the sights and I was hitting a man sized target at 125 yards. It was really just a function test, making some noise, and having some fun. I’d like to get a little more serious now and I think this video has covered all of the bases. Wish me luck out there tomorrow. I’m generally new to rifle shooting, and very new to M1 Garands. I don’t have all that much experience sighting rifles in at all. I got lucky with the sights out of the box. Aiming dead center at the man sized target, I was hitting low. Adjusted 3 clicks up and began hitting center mass every time. I will be a little reluctant to “mess them up” as they seem to be set pretty well. But I think this will be worth it.
Well good luck! Anytime I take a new (to me) gun to the range or at least one I am not very experienced with, I bring plenty of ammo. Sometimes trial and error even after doing your homework takes a little bit to figure it out. Thanks for coming by!
Nice

Your welcome
I’m having a horrible time trying to take the trigger group off my Polytech rifle, are they any different to the American ones?
I wouldn’t think so, but I’ve never seen one in person so I can’t say for sure. If it causes that many problems, it might be time to take it to a gunsmith. Thanks for coming by!
My M1A came with the same technical manual..
I actually had to download mine. I got my mine second hand. Thanks for coming by!
Walther PPK is not a good gun, it is not accurate and it is ergonomically uncomfortable.
