Epic Joker Laugh

- This is from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm, at the end when the World of Tomorrow starts exploding. The Joker begins to laugh with epic music behind him. Gave me goosebumps.
Also, since the question seems to be coming up a lot, the song is "Andrea's Revenge" from the OST.
I do not pretend to own the right to the contents in the video, I am posting this simply because I love the movie and the series. - Розваги
"What the heck I'll laugh anyway"
The Joker.

And if you don't like the movie, I got slides..... 😁
“It’d be funny if it weren’t so pathetic......oh what the heck I’ll laugh anyway HAHAHAHAHA”
@@godbloodspilla7154 what a good movie.
This one little scene perfectly sums up The Joker's character; a lunatic so in love with chaos that even his imminent demise is amusing to him.
BrainDeadBoffin That's an... accurate way to put it...
*Madness.
👏well said BrainDeadBoffin
Because finally he is out of misery. The joker needs Batman to have purpose. His demise completes him
The reason why Joker laughs is that he knows he won't get killed.
This is one of the Joker's best laughing moments EVER!!!
If not the best.
Of all time
The best is in The dark knight when Joker falls from building
@@pawezpodestu9226 Meh
My favorite is, "I'd be funny if it weren't so pathetic... oh what the heck I'll laugh anyways."
Romero: The Clown
Nicholson: The Artist
Ledger: The Anarchist
Leto: The Gangster
Phoenix: The Sociopath
Hamill: THE JOKER
I don't know about sociopath, he definitely has sympathy for kids and a sweet heart. Maybe The Misunderstood or the downtrodden? The forgotten working class?
I love this explanation
Monaghan: The Insanity
Monaghan: The Mastermind
@@LOON3Y_TOON3Y finally someone paying respect for Cameron joker he’s so underrated
I’d swap Nicholson abs Phoenix around for their titles
"Some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn."
I want someone to play that quote over this scene
Scary that this is actually true
@@mr.l8723 yeah sometimes people are just evil, no motive or reason just causing pain and destruction is what they want.
I wonder if that quote was meant to subtly pay homage to this scene.
EXACTLY
He laughs because he knows he has a future in the series and Andrea doesn't.
+Just Some Guy with a Mustache Exactly xD
Doesnt she end up working for amanda waller in the justice league cartoon?
Yeah. She only appears in Epilogue and that's it. And Joker survives apparently.
Ouch
Rrrrroasted 😂
Bruce Timm: OK Mark, I'm gonna need you to give it your all. This is a huge movie ending and we need your best laugh yet.
Mark Hamill: 0:04
Mark Hamill:How was that?
Bruce Timm:.......
Everyone in the recording booth is holding each other in fright and shaking
Fun fact. The original choice for Joker was Tim Curry, but he was "too dark" for the kid's show according to the producers.
Pure genius.
Perfect man that’s a rap.
And to this day this is his best Joker laugh.
"Do what you must, for I have already won"
Honestly that's what makes this scene so perfect. Sure the Joker's been beaten, bloodied and helpless, but in this one moment he realizes he also destroyed Andrea's life by killing her father, destroyed Batman's one chance at happiness by turning her into the one thing he hates, ruined their lives and the lives of multiple folk associated with both, and now he's going to die before anything can steal away his victory. Of course he laughs because this one time, he really did win!
Brandon Gould a moment that was only toppled recently in the game "Injustcie 2":
Joker: don't you see superman I've already won
Superman: you died, how is that winning?
Joker: I made you lose control.
for those who don't know the injustice universe, is a universe were superman became a dictator, was overthrown and is in constant conflict between heroes and former friends, basically is chaos, and it all started when the joker MADE superman kill Lois who by the way was pregnant.
*Gets man handled*
Omar Reyes That was a beautiful description of the events of Injustice.
One of those scenes that points to Joker knowing Batman is Bruce.
Darth Vader: "Luke, Im your father."
Luke: "AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Darth Vader: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Vader: wtf
Vader: "...what madness have I unleashed?"
"That'd be funny if it weren't so pathetic.... oh what the heck, I'll laugh anyway AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Luke if he went to the dark side
The Joker's hideout in this film was so brilliant: the rusting, decrepit dreams of a better future, which he literally burns down in the end; very apocalyptic.
The symbolism is a bit on the nose, but I like how The World of the Future theme park is a character in its own right.
When Bruce and Andrea are dating, it's active and operational, full of life and music. When they split apart and choose the life of vigilantism, it's older and falling apart, much more grim, and the only thing in it is the Joker, the center of both of their obsessions. And when Andrea rejects Bruce for the last time, the future burns down and leaves nothing behind, leading to Bruce ultimately never having any long-lasting relationships.
I just realised the killing joke nod with that
Better to burn out then to fade away
Anyone else love that one second there where it looks like he actually cares about all that destruction but then bursts out laughing? Brilliant.
Yes like he has a twinge of fear for just a second, but then his insanity kicks in and he can’t help but laugh at the chaos he has created.
It was the laugh to end all laughs
AndreNitro X1000 I don’t think that was a scare. I think he was surprised at how big the explosion was and laughed cause it was perfect for his thirst for destruction.
That was a "If this is how I die well it was funny while it lasted" laugh. Obviously he doesn't die though.
@@Xehanort10Is the new batman the animated series and batman beyond canon to this film because in those shows and movies,he actually dies to Tim Drake?
Mark Hamill's reaction to anyone else portraying the Joker
Jack has portrayed him better, bitches.
TrollMalefico1984 I like the Tim Burton one best but I still gotta give some love to Hamil.
TrollMalefico1984 Mark Hamill is the best Joker voice as well as the best Joker overall and Jack Nicholson is the best live action Joker.
***** Ledger was great but he's too overrated.
*****
I disagree, Ledger greatly acted a generic crimelord clown. If you named him "The Jester" instead of the Joker, you'd never tell of similarities with the original.
I'm not exaggerating when I say that I've put the movie on just to hear this music cue and that laugh. Hamill gave his greatest performance in Phantasm.
8 years have passed, are you still watching this?
@@dorian4191 yes 🃏
Um
Return of the Jedi
Same here.😊
For me, Return of the Joker is the only one that challenges this.
In his 40 year+ acting career, this is possibly THE BEST moment of Mark Hamill's acting career
I don't know, he was brilliant in The Force Awakens. He got robbed at the oscars.
James Michael Harding My favorite Joker of all time is Ledger and my favorite voice, animated and laugh is Hamill all the fucking way.
Even the idea of his own death doesn't stop him, the place is falling apart all around him, he's at the lack of mercy of someone who wants him dead, he's bleeding, bruised, in probably a lot of pain, and he just laughs hysterically. It's terrifying just how insane Joker is.
The Joker barely feels pain. He could shoot himself and not feel anything.
He feels pain, he just likes it.
@@nordicfatcheese no I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that his pain tolerance is ridiculously high after becoming the joker
@Razh 80 100% agree
@Razh 80 c'mon Heath Ledger is the best joker
Dang, that maniac laugh by the Joker, knowing that it’s all over and that he’s finally doomed, truly gives me chills man!
"Worst comes to worst, I'll laugh my way out of it" - Joker
It's probably because he knows that the world of tomorrow represents Andrea and Bruce's "what might have been" future, and it's going up in flames, as well as their future together. That's what one of the previous commentors said, anyway, and it's a very insightful way to look at it.
Wow I never looked at it that way. The movie is a true gem
@@hashimahmed7271 Yeah that is very insightful, the World of Tomorrow represents Andrea and Bruce's possibility of a happy future together and the Joker aware of Andrea's and Bruce attachment to such places and it's significance is laughing because he knows that their hopes and dreams of shared happiness is lost forever.
It's debatable if at this point Joker knows who Batman is. I don't think he does. Off the top of my head, I don't remember anything in B:TAS, or the DCAU, pre- ROTJ, that suggested, or implies that Joker knows who Batman is.
The only alternatives are that in this film, MOTP, Joker does know, and it's a continuity error that they didn't keep going forward, or that MOTP is not in the same continuity as the DCAU.
Edit: To my knowledge, MOTP is canon.
@@right_hand_power7960 Even if Joker is not aware that Batman is Bruce Wayne, I think he still takes great pleasure in watching World of Tomorrow burns because of several reasons:
1. It a futuristic representation of Gotham hence it burning seems to greatly amuse Joker
2. Joker is aware that Andrea is very attached to the World of Tomorrow because it represents her own happy experiences with Bruce as Joker was the one that killed Andrea's father it is likely that he was aware of Andrea's and Bruce's relationship thus to seeing it burn is a great victory to him over Andrea.
regarding Joker and Batman's identity, I feel that Joker just doesn't care as he is not interested in the man behind the cowl. In many ways he sees the cowl as the man's true persona.
@@hamizanyunos1502 Agreed.
I saw this in the theater when I was 8 it was Batman Mask of the Phantasm. This is one of my favorite Joker moments. He is laughing at the world burning around him, and showing that he is not afraid but a narcissist. His laugh is more of a "Bring it on. I wanted to see this."
My parents' reaction when I told them I was going to be someone in life.
They even went as far as set up the explosions at their local museum? They really must have thought it was funny.
yes, it was a big block party and everything ;)

Leto’s a good actor and musician, just not a good joker
@@rankrodent2772 Eh, he wasn't bad in Justice League.
@@Metalora his nonsensical rambles went for too long, but that was Snyder's fault
The sheer madness and insanity in his laugh is glorious.
Let's be real for a moment: First, by far Hamil's is the best and most iconic Joker laugh. The slow start as a twisted chuckle, warping into an insane cackle of one who has stared into the eyes of death and finds nothing but amusement is terrifyingly mad but brilliant. Second, I don't care who you are, but if someone approached you laughing like this, you'd crap yourself. Third, if I could laugh like that I would probably have scared the 💩 out of everyone just because I could. Fourth, insert necessary "Watch the world burn" quote here. Fifth, I'm sorry if this was cringy.
This is my favourite version of the Joker, as the world burns around him; All he does is laugh.
When you realize how pointless life is...
You should be a screenwriter Francisco.
Mr. Meeseeks It isn't when you're a Meeseeks.
Not being important in the universe makes you feel bad ?

The laugh in killing joke
Andrea. The woman that Bruce was willing to give up being Batman for, the one woman he loved enough to put a rest to his entire life's work and his hatred of crime. And Joker drove her down a path of vengeance so deep that she would never be the same woman again. This was his greatest triumph worthy of his greatest laugh; He destroyed Batman's one true chance at happiness.
"If you got to go...go with a smile! Or with a epic laugh!"
I love how the Joker watches the explosion with an amazed expression before laughing madly. It perfectly sums up what Alfred said inThe Dark Knight: “Some men just wanna watch the world burn.”
That is the kind of laugh from a man who has nothing left to lose.
The way Andrea was looking at the Joker while he was laughing had me laughing as well
When your life's falling apart but you just don't give a fuck
That moment when you throw one grenade to flush out the enemy team or drive them away and it sets off other grenades, resulting in at least six enemies just blown away and more explosions that even end up harming your teammates.
I relish this level of unbiased chaos.
Andrea is the mod that bans you. :3
Love how he laughs so hard he can’t even stand 🤣
0:03 That moment when I spoiled the ending to Batman vs Superman to my classmates.
Nocturus YOU ARE THE WORST PERSON ON THIS PLANET!!!
I LIKE THAT!
well at least u saved them from watching a terrible movie...
0:03 Look at his face. Joker actually cared about all the property. But he hid it with a laugh. Therefore he is sad, but from the inside.
Actually, he was planning to blow it all up and escape. He's laughing because he knows he's totally screwed and going to go down with the ship, but it's all because of someone who's life he completely ruined. Andrea could've escaped and lived a happy life but that means that the Joker might live too. Yet she's too corrupted with hatred and vengeance to do that. She's perfectly willing to throw her life away to make sure the Joker dies for what he did. Joker realizes he's been hoist by his own petard and there's no way out, but at least his death ensures that he's completely ruined someone else's life so badly that they threw away their own chance at redemption.
That's why he's laughing.
The Joker isn't insane, just evil.
@@Thoralmir I mean......he's both..
@@MFCMG23 Joker doesn't fit into any known mental illness. Doctors trying to treat him tend to end up dead, traumatized, or insane themselves.
@@Thoralmir Insanity isn't a mental illness though, it's a term used to describe a certain spectrum of mental deterioration. Just because he's intelligent, doesn't mean he isn't crazy.
@@MFCMG23 "Insanity isn't a mental illness though, it's a term used to describe a certain spectrum of mental deterioration."
Yeah, I didn't say it was, genius.
Besides, the most likely theory is that he has medium awareness, which would be what fits best with all his behavior.
He knows on some level that he's a comic book character, and he's actively exploiting comic book tropes for all they're worth in order to stay relevant and survive.
He's laughing because he knows that there's a trope in play: If he's getting Hoist By His Own Petard this epically, then he knows there's no way he's going to get killed off. It's the punchline of a joke only he understands; it's _funny._
That's why when he's Killed Off For Real in the flashback scene in the Batman Beyond movie, he says "That's not funny" as he's dying from a little flag impaled in his chest.

My reaction to Batman The Killing Joke outperforming the 2016 Ghostbusters movie
+ARHicks00 the movie wasn't bad (except the first 30 minutes, they were awful) but the actual KILLING JOKE part of it was good, just disappointing, this was the one DC Movie that almost ALL FANS were excited for, a movie that could possilby beat Mask Of The Phantasm, could be so good, we were all so certain... and while it was good, it was kind of a let down, some of the scenes were rushed (whoever was the Voice Director for this should be FIRED! the voice acting sounded like it was from an Anime Dub (not a bad one like 4Kids but still noticeable like Adult Swim), there are fan videos done so much better, the 3D Monologue video is SO MUCH better, which is a shame since the movie got The KING of Joker voices) plus the character designs weren't the best, mainly Joker's imo, he looked good in some shots but still didn't look that good in others, imo they should have had it resemble the DCAU look (I know it would probably confuse some people but all they'd have to do is explain it may look like the DCAU but it isn't, like those two Superman animated movies (one of them was Doomsday can't remember the other))
Wrath's Turntable Time Machine Rocksmash Attack (AKA The Mysterious Reuploader, Ace-edo Mask!)
if they wanted an extra 30 minutes they should have done something better that actually fit in with the plot, like have them catch the Joker at beginning and show what makes him decide to prove his point now of all times, have some stuff with Barbara and DICK! NOT BRUCE! and have a longer fight scene with Batman and the Joker, after the speech (which should not be a fight scene) give them a long brutal fight until they're both outside and tired.
Wrath's Turntable Time Machine Rocksmash Attack (AKA The Mysterious Reuploader, Ace-edo Mask!)
Jason is the one who's dead, not Dick.
Both were terrible films
The music is what makes it.
To think...earlier in this movie we had Bruce put on the Cowl for the first time. That was badass. To hear this epic Joker laugh...sheer brilliance. I am so glad I grew up seeing a legendary show with extremely talented voice actors!
To me it's the brief moment of Joker's sheer amazement of the unleashing chaos right before the maniacal laught that makes it, it wouldn't be as good if he was just giggly all the time
Best joker laugh ever
The joker is so classy, even his own death make him laugh. And this music....Just an epic scene!
This will be me... Very soon.
This really symbolizes the Joker, everything is burning, smoke is filling the sky and it looks like the literal definition of the word Chaos. And he's laughing like there's no tomorrow.
My reaction to Disney retconning the Expanded Universe of Star Wars.
Darth Sadow I never cared for the EU, especially when it gave us crap like "Super Saiyan" Luke Skywalker.
Thankfully the Old Republic era is spared by The Clone Wars series being deemed canon and Darth Bane's appearance. He established the Rule of Two only after finding a holocron by Darth Revan.
This is utter bullshit!
Soo...after 3 years, is that still your opinion ?
My reaction to 2016 summed up perfectly
Well, considering what happened at the end of 2016, I wouldn't exactly laugh at that, but the point still stands
I feel joker has a very authentic laugh
Batman: looked into the abyss and stared it down.
Andrea: Looked into the abyss and fell.
Joker: Shat himself laughing at the abyss.
And the Award for the Most Epic Evil Laugh of all time goes to...The Joker!!!
The music + the sound effects + the voice acting + the storytelling = MASTERPIECE

Incredible laugh and what makes the scene even better is that music. Very underrated movie it should have gotten more attention than it did when it first came out. I thought Batman Mask of the Phantasm was excellent.
You know what else is symbolic? The World of the Future is bright and gleaming when Bruce and Andrea are young and in love. Years later, when they're both in costumes and the Joker is around, look what happens.

*Mark plays this video.*
The Joker was great in this movie and this laugh was no acceptation.
Brought a tear to my eye. Imagine on the big screen with a scene with numerous casualties. It's so sick and evil but no one has ever done a better joker laugh.
Its scenes like this why Phantasm is one of my all time favorite movies

Whenever I wanna show how masterful Mark Hamill is playing Joker, I just show them this clip
He's literally laughing at the future of Gotham and how it is burning such a great character
the title is right EPIC!!!!!!!!!
The context of the emotion this scene holds, the epic intense music coupled w that gut wrenching bone chilling laugh are what honestly makes this my favorite scene in all of cinema. One I fondly remember as a child being so in love w because of how badass and yet disturbing it was. This film was a masterpiece in cinema and every second of it w my first viewing grew my love for cinema to its max. Ever since this film I haven't been able to shut up about the importance of film when done right.
So powerful. I love u mark Hammil.
When captain falcon punches the galaxy, joker laughs in the middle of the apocalipse like this.EPIC..........
When mark hamill looked at the audience score for the last jedi on rotten tomatoes.
I love and will miss Mark Hamill's take on the Joker the most for this reason, his laugh, though chaotic, had a musical rhythm to it. He was always sublime as the Joker, but in a single laugh he could encapsulate every emotion of the moment as epically as any explosion or background orchestra.

That in my opinion is the best Joker laugh of all time
I stacked this with the laugh from Jack at the end of the Batman, and the laugh from Heath in DK when he thinks Batman has tossed him to his death and came to a conclusion:
Nobody captures the essence of joker like Mark Hamill. Nobody.
You MANIAC! You BLEW IT ALL UP!
Introverts looking at extroverts stuck at home during quarantine
The Joker is not scared. He laughs, because he knows when something terrible is happening around him, he's to blame. And knowing that the place is burning, he in a sense, has won again
He laughed so hard that smoke pops out of nowhere and teleported them.
Mark Hamill is definitely one of the best Joker's in my opinion
Mark Hamill is amazing, and now he is the voice of Chucky in the new "Child's Play" remake. I cant wait to see it and I've never been excited about a remake before.
Arguably the best batman animated film....
*Romero* : I am the first Joker on screen
*Nicholson* : Maybe, But I'm the most memorable for most of the fans
*Ledger* : maybe for those born before the 2000s, but I am the face of the modern Joker

*Phoenix* : you all make me laugh... I'm the protagonist of my own movie.
*Hamill* : 0:05
If you didn’t know by now…this is when you realize The Joker is Crazy…that laugh…this might be The Laugh standard…I’m still watching this years later out of amazement 😂😅
My favourite Joker's desing version!!!
Andrea is what the Joker wanted Batman to become. "One Bad Day" created the Phantasm and in the end "Everything Burned" around her.
Nobody will ever top Luke Skywalker's Joker laugh.
Darth Vader: "Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father."
Luke Skywalker: "He told me enough. He told me you killed him."
Darth Vader: "No. I... am your father."
Luke Skywalker: "No... No... That's not true... That's impossible!"
Darth Vader: "Search your feelings, you KNOW it to be true."
Luke Skywalker: "0:04"
There's no way "Some men just want to watch the world burn" quote from TDK isn't connected to this scene. Sure, The Joker in TDK burns a pyramid of cash later on(proving Alfred right), but it feels like this scene inspired that line.
Ladies and gentlemen, the new voice for Chucky
