  • This customer is having a problem with standing water and water intrusion into their basement. The houses are close and it's difficult to get the downspout water far enough away from the foundation. Luckily he lives in Sayreville and they've recently changed their rules regarding roof runoff discharging to the street. Sayreville, along with Old Bridge, now allow running downspouts to the curb. We are going to install a new pipe that connects the four downspouts on this side of the house, add a few yard drain inlets to take care of a standing water issue, and run that pipe under the sidewalk to the curb. They have a nice lawn so we will work low impact and try to do as little damage as possible. We also show some pro tips and tricks. Thanks for watching

    I imagine the customer walked out and assumed you hadn't started work yet because of how clean it was. Nice work!

      p.s. I'm curious if Dawn's nails survived? I have to admit I was confused as to how someone who works as hard as Dawn could have such beautiful nails = )

      You made Dawn's day Johli. Her nails did get chipped up by the end of this job, but luckily for me, she's used to that and she doesn't mind redoing them. Thanks again

      Hello Alan, I always appreciate all your nice compliments. It is nice when we get to do this kind of job where we can finish like this. Usually there's grading involved so we wreck the place - lol. Thanks again and have a great weekend, Tom

    Kinda funny messing with the hole in the curb requires a permit, but apparently yoinking the sidewalk out doesn't 😂

    5:36 I've never seen anyone cool a concrete saw with a leaf blower, that a genius idea.

      Thank you Alexei. That blade is made to run dry. Dawn is using the blower to keep the concrete dust away from me.

      Terrible idea. First, it doesn't cool. Dust goes everywhere landing on the house and sills. Water is the safest way. Anything else is a cheap shortcut.

    Great video - why did you use vented clean outs instead of a T for the gutter downspouts? Also for the T by the sidewalk, did you put gravel underneath?

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  10 місяців тому +9

      Hello Jeff. That's the way we do our downspouts. The ty with grate acts as a cleanout, vent and freeze protection. Sometimes, when you use a regular tee you can have a little water coming through the vent/grate. That doesn't happen with a ty/sanitary tee. Plus, we like the way it looks. I mentioned in the video that this was sandy soil so no gravel was needed. I hope I answered your questions. Thank you for the compliment and have a great weekend, Tom

      Hey mate
      Would be great if you could test your systems before you leave and video it - ie put a garden hose in one of the downswing ty clean outs then go to the street and video the water coming out to the street..
      Other then that, I love your work

    Silly question but what thinkness plywood do you use for protecting the yard?

    Is there any chance of weeds penetrating the tee fitting upside down by the curb?

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  5 місяців тому +2

      Hi Owen, I don't see that as an issue. It's about a foot down and no chance of sunlight. It can be snaked or cleaned on either side - curb or the cleanout, if there was a future problem, but I don't foresee that happening, Tom

    Is that a manure fork you are using to reset the sod?

    Hello, seeing as how you do a lot of piping, why not invest in a trenching machine? I think it would make the job faster, and easier
