French Drain to City Storm Drain - Old Bridge, NJ. Part 2 of 2 - Backyard catch basins and grading

  • This nice family has a wet backyard. We discovered that the water table in the backyard was around 4 inches, they also had water seeping out of the ground and they have some of the best impervious clay soil we've worked with. They are also getting runoff from neighbors that are much higher. A trifecta of drainage awesomeness. Luckily the neighbor had a storm drain in the street that she allowed us to tie into. We installed a French drain with large catch basins and inlets and ran that to the city storm sewer.
    I hope you enjoy our video and thank you for watching

    Wow, that was a pile of roots. I was starting to worry you wouldn't have enough dirt to refill the trench lol. Nick's tip of the day was a good one it made me lol (I'm laughing again just thinking about it as I write this) Dawn is such a good sport hehe. Great video as always, btw I liked Pilot Dawns drone angle = )

      Hi Johli, You’re right. I was planning to take dirt away, but after removing all the roots we had just enough to put the yard back together. Thank you for the compliment and have a great day, Tom

    Your company seems to work hard, and you have great work ethics with completing jobs and being thorough. It seems as if even with 2 to 3 people you get the job done. I can’t wait to find out where you are located. I need you here in Columbus Ohio.

    Very nice work! I agree with Chris and would love to see a video after a nice rain (we just got 2+ inches over the past weekend) I live right next to East Brunswick and know what that did to my yard!

      Thank you Lee. I know we got 3-3/4 inches last weekend here in OB. I have permission to do a follow up from the customer. We are waiting for the new grass to come in. Which is taking a little longer because of the cool temps. We'll try to make it a good follow up video. I know the homeowner is very happy. Thank you again neighbor, Tom

    A good system to use. Would have been nice to see the french drain working. With that much water, there should have been enough to show it draining into the sewer.

    Would love some rain footage at the end of your videos on how well your system handles heavy flow. Maybe even a comparison from water buildup before versus now.

    Impressive work! At 29:17 is that a grate? Won't it let debris in the french drain pipe? I guess the 20' ones would as well though.

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  Рік тому +1

      Thank you Mark. Yes, small debris could wash into the grate and then be able to be cleaned out at the catch basin or just wash all the way to the storm sewer. The property had a much bigger problem with surface water coming from the homes higher up, so catch basins and inlets were a must. We used the French drain to also lower the water table. Have a great weekend, Tom

    On the left side facing back fence; why didn’t you use fabric, and stones?

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  5 місяців тому +1

      Good morning Miss Cookie. We made a french drain with catch basins and inlets across the back of the property. The left side didn't need a french drain and is solid pipe with inlets. Have a good weekend, Tom

    Great vid. Question? Did the solid green pipe in the French drain section contain any holes in the piping at all?

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  Рік тому +2

      Thank you Adam. Yes, the pipe between the 20 inch basins is perforated and we perforated the 20 inch basins. The pipe from the second 20 inch basin to the street is solid. It's a little hard to see in the video, but the perforated pipe is green and the solid pipe is light blue. All SDR-35.
      Thanks again, Tom
