    Another nice transformation. 👍Additional, there are better conditions now for draining the front part of the footer of the tiny house. - I wish you a merry Christmas and all the best for 2024! Stay healthy, you three. Kind regards from Germany from Oliver

      Hello from New Jersey Oliver. Thank you very much. You are correct about the drainage. They used to have puddles after a rain and now the water runs off their property easily. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too. Have a great week, Tom

    You guys did an amazing job. It doesn't even look like the same place at the end.

    You guys do some pretty work... Keep up the great work. I respect entrepreneurs such as yourselves. And you got some pretty cool toys there too. When I was in the business, Had a couple of mini Xs.. They were a lot of fun to run. Couple of dump trailers. ( We would stick The minis Xs and the mini skid steer in the dump trailers.) Did pretty much the same thing you guys are doing.

      Hello JPenny. Thank you very much. I would like to get a dump trailer at some point soon and I also love running our mini. Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice comment. Have a great day, Tom

    Did you just have an archaeology discovery hehe? I'm curious about the sunken driveway and step. It seems odd that they would be buried that far down. Oh well, it looks good now and that's what matters = )

      Hi Johli. We thought the concrete levels were pretty crazy too. I don't know how they didn't have a flood in the front of their house every time it rained. Thanks again and have a great week, Tom

    I love this channel!! You guys are exactly what I am and want to be! I am a solo landscaper and I have a 4052r john deere and I am looking at getting a john deere 17G or Kubota U17. Do you guys find that having a smaller excavator has been a huge benefit for a business of your size? A lot of people I have talked to have told me that the 17g is too small and I should instead go up to a bigger unit like the 26g but I just feel that that would be too big for most jobs. I prefer to invest in equipment instead of labor! Thank you guys so much and keep it up!

      Thank you very much for the awesome compliment David. Our mini is crucial to our business and I would buy the same machine again. Like you said you have to get a size that works for your area. Our 18 get us into almost every yard around here. For me, going bigger would reduce the amount of work we can do. Good luck with your business, Tom

    Great job, has really good curb appeal. What happened to the mail box, since I'm a retired mailman?

      Thank you Stanley. The customer decided they were going to install a mailbox attached to the house by the front door. Thanks again, Tom

    I like that you guys use stone i stead of sand for the setting bed. I see a lot of pavers have the sand base washed away from underneath them.
    So you always set pavers on top of geogrid? What do you gain from doing that?

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi Andrew, The geogrid is one more step to keep the pavers in place for a long time. The weight of the pavers in the middle of the field keeps the geogrid locked in place. Driving spikes through the geogrid and edging completes the job. On the porch the weight of the pavers locks everything together because the caps, blocks and geogrid are all glued together. It does have to be bi-directional geogrid. I hope I explained it and answered your question. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Tom

    how did you slope the inner pad? if the retainer is level all around how did you set pitch to ensure proper drainage? great work !

    • @tyelandscapinganddrainage
      @tyelandscapinganddrainage  8 місяців тому +3

      Thank you Peak, The side along the house and the outside, also the long sides, are level. The short sides that run along the driveways have a 2% pitch. That ensures that the rain water runs away from the house to the old lawn area. You can kind of see that at 14:15. We set that up with our laser. Once we dialed in the slope we set all the screed rails with the same laser setup. No need to reset the laser. You can see Dawn checking at 12:16. You can also see the water running off the porch towards the lawn area at 27:00. I hope I answered your question. Happy New Year, Tom
