I own prototype #5, got super lucky that I was able to score mine years ago directly from Bastien. The Telum over the yesrs has basically pushed pretty much all of the folders out of rotation, and sits as one of my main CC models.
So glad they at least did this in M390 instead of N690. I don't think I could justify a purchase like that without a supersteel. Its such a cool dagger. Too rich for my blood, but Im a bum. Thanks for showing this sir.
I own 2 Bastinelli knives. A Mako folder with a wire ring and a custom Mako fixed blade that is the same size as the folder. I enjoy them both. This particular blade is very interesting. It is reminiscent of a knife by Tops called I.C.E dagger. It looks to be inspired by the Japanese Kunai.
For combat , non lethal, reverse grip, libre and FMA, knife grappling, maximum retention and also goes back into sheath either way. For putting it away when stress hormones hit. Not goin to cut your pinky if you really commit. The blade being shorter is almost like wearing a seatbelt in a car crash. Even the shape of the handle and jimping demonstrates retention prioritized worst case scenario. Not disarmed
This will be my next purchase for my "war belt" setup to be carried horizontally just off to the right of the small of the back. I recently bought the "Shadow" version of the Feather K for EDC. I have a Bastinelli karambit as well. He makes some awesome stuff!
Check out the SOCP Dagger. Special Operations Combative Program. It's A fixed blade that works with your firearm in the same hand. No need to drop it after CQB.
Great review, love the knife but that sheath. How easy do you think it is to take of the clip. I just won't be able to carry it like that. I've stop buying Tops because of their clips. I like the clip on the Telum but not the position of it on the sheath. If the clip can rotate, I may be able to work with that.
Sufficiently sharp out of the box, particularly the serrations of course. It will cut but is set up largely for stabs and thrusts, rips and tears. I think I asked Bastien once with the Rockwell hardness of their m390 is and he indicated he thought it was 60. Seems like the general reply these days is 59 to 60. I'm not sure that defense-based knives need to be extremely hard and at times it's good that they aren't to eliminate breaking and chipping. 🗡️👊🗡️
If you break down what you get its not a bad price. Tracker dan sheaths dont come cheap. The case it comes in is great material. Not to mention your getting a knife made in Italy and not china in m360. And warranty for life
Unfortunately most knife companies give too broad a range for HRC these days. They must be allowing for a lot of variances from their OEMs. However I have knives out of 1095 heat treated to 57 that are tough sharp but easy to sharpen. Not sure if the same would apply for stainless steels such as m390. I do know that for its intended purpose the telum is made from a good steel at a good Rockwell. 🗡️👊👍

🗡️🔥👍
How do you carry it?
I prefer pocketed with static cord attached to belt. Sheath releases outside pocket. Or, appendix carry, IWB....

Thank you, finally a great review on it. Been contemplating purchasing the knife but there were no good videos on it
Thanks for watching! I too could find almost no reviews on it which means I had to buy it and do so! 😆🗡️👊🔥

Check my video on the Ice Dagger 🗡️👍👊
@@OGBladeReviews Cool! will do. I've been on the fence as to whether or not it's worth purchasing for quite some time.

This is on my list. 2023 purchase.
I have 8 Bastinelli knives. I got the black Telum and paid $280. The Pika is great along with the Diagnostic.

A good looking knife. Seems well constructed for a defensive blade. Great video 👍
I think a lot of people underestimate the potential power of a small blade. They can be utterly devastating...ESPECIALLY if they're in trained hands.
Very true! 👊🗡️👍
Very cool, interesting design. Great video!
Hey Bri. Did you have another fixed blade video up from the last few days and then remove it for some reason?
Nope
Thanks TOSABR Dave. Please keep the fixies coming (along with folders). 'Telum' Latin for "weapon" (but you knew that, aye Gladius Vetus ?!).
Yes, but specifically a dart, spear or javelin.... Thanks for watching Byron! 👍🗡️👊
kind of like a miniature military shovel the size of a Kunai due to the long hilt and wide short multi functional blade which is only half as long
Yes, Bastien puts a lot of thought into his designs and they're highly functional!

Thanks for watching! This clip is easy to take off, with two screws. Then you can put an Ultiiclip on or a strap as I mentioned in the review. 👊🗡️🔥
@@OGBladeReviews thank you, that's great.
As far as the m390 blade...do u know the Rockwell hardness it comes in and how sharp is it out of the box?....by the way I love the look and design

Thanks for responding friend....much appreciated 🙏
Really cool looking knife, it will make my list
Telum is a killer little blade but not $350 worth. It just ain't big enough to justify the price. Still..killer blade&killer vid knife bro!!
You can get a machete real cheap if you're looking for dollars per inch value! 🤣🗡️👊

If the steel is 61 hrc or higher, that would be nice,
