Bastinelli Chopper: amzn.to/3b0hI4z
This knife was designed for the FRENCH RAID which is a the special anti-terrorist unit of the French police called upon for hostage situations, terrorist events, and critical interventions.
We are going to see if it has what it takes to earn the Tactical Tavern seal of approval taking into account the following criteria; price, functionality/design, dependability, versatility, and carry ability. By the end of this review you will have the necessary information to decide if this knife is right for your EDC or tactical load out.
This is a multi purpose knife with thoughtful design making it great for a variety of EDC tasks yet, can still be utilized as a defensive option. The Chopper excels at daily cutting tasks because of the continuously upswept blade shape that allows for new steel to be introduced along the cut aiding in slicing performance. This all terminates to a needle sharp point that can hold its own compared to a dagger. For me, the main selling point on this knife is the ergonomics. It offers a full secure grip. The 3D machined handles allow for easy concealed carry yet quickly deploys by biting into the skin and making for a very secure grip. Altogether this is one of the most versatile tactical fixed blade knives I have tested recently.

Fantastic review! Saw one retail for around $220, kinda regret not picking it up...
Thank you! If you see one again for that price pick me up another ahahaha just kidding
But seriously you won’t regret getting this knife ✅🔪
Heya Tomas!! I really enjoyed the chance to meet you at the recent NorCal Knife Meetup near Sacramento, CA. Good to shake hands and wish you well...... I totally enjoyed your interview with Frankie and Bird at ShotShow!
Whenever you showcase trailing point blades and reverse grip techniques, I pay attention, most def.
Too bad you're not a balisong enthusiast, your knife handling skills would make you a natural.....even though modern balisong is not about self defense so much, the flow and finger dexterity is definitely key for many aspects of blade movement...... Love your channel. Best wishes, Geno
Thank you Geno!
It was awesome to meet you too
I am actually a Balisong enthusiast
And may review the Bradly Kimura here shortly
Looking forward to the next time we cross paths
Can you do a review of the mako folder of Bastinelli? Anyway, awesome content, I love your channel!
Absolutely!
I have the OG serrated one with a gray handle but I can compare it to the new black one! He also fairly recently came out with a Mako Trainer! 🔥🔥🔪
Awesome! I wonder enormously how you judge it.
Nice review , this knife looks perfect for CCW use not too big or too small , also has good blade shape for multiple uses .
Yes! It has been a very useful tool and comfortable in many grips for a variety of applications 🙌🏽🔪
Love your videos man! Was wondering what belt you're wearing in this vid. Thanks!
Thank you! This is the EDC Cobra belt from Blue Force Gear
@@tacticaltavern thanks!
@@tacticaltavern Wondering if you've handled the Bastinelli Red V2 and what your thoughts on it are compared to the Chopper. Thanks!
Дякую!
Чудовий ніж, чудовий огляд!
Приємно дивитись, навіть захотілось придбати цього ножа.
Успіхів, панове!
I love Bastinelli Knives 🔪 Great review
I do too! Thanks for watching 🔪
Nice overview!, is this knife full tang?, can't really notice because of how the g10 covers everything.
Thank you! It goes down to the second screw
This is on my list
FIRST!! Man that packaging is 🔥🔥🔥
Winner, Winner! 🎉🎉
Agreed, The hard case is actually bad ass!
One more question brotha, do you think this makes a good stabby stabby for self defense or just for slashing?
Both for sure!
If you want strictly stabby I would check out the Ice Scream Pick
This is a greet blend between the two
what was that blt loop snap he had? i could really use some of those!!!
I really want a double-edge version of this.
Hell yes! You and me both 🤘🏽🔪
Good video
Great blade!
Agreed! 🔪🔥
Great video! Which discreet carry clip is that?
Good question
I have a couple I rotate on there but I think its the Universal Mod 1.5

Thank you very much!!
The New Jack Carr: Terminal List on Amazon Prime is certainly worth the watch!
Appreciate you watching and your input 😎👊🏼
I like it thanks!
Absolutely! A favorite of mine to EDC
I saw the DCC clip only attached to one hole. It must suck when the clip rotates on you. 😆 If the kydex hole spacing is at 1 inch to 1.5 inches (center to center of each hole), the Mummert Titanium clip is something to look at.
I'm kinda cheating on DCC right now with the Mummert Ti clip. It was the only thing to fit my Bastinelli Manaia for IWB carry. I needed two attachment points so my clip won't rotate on me.
This is why I love the EDC community!
Thank you- I will check it out!
For whatever reason this one has not been rotating on me and I am very grateful, other clips I needed tape or a ranger band.
I am thinking about drilling another hole though… 😂
What would be better for self defense in your opinion, THIS or the microtech bastinelli feather k karambit?
Damn that’s a great question!
Honestly I feel this knife is more versatile and effective for self defense in the hands of someone who hasn’t trained years in martial arts- hope this helps!
@@tacticaltavern btw the chopper blade looks menacing af 🥵😂😂
@@tony21084 Agreed!
I think it was the R.E.D. that was designed for a special french police team, not the Chopper ! :)
I know the R.E.D well! (Raptor Extremely Dangerous) It may have been however I know for certain the Chopper knife was created to commemorate an anniversary for the French R.A.I.D. Team
It was awesome hearing about it from Bastien himself recently at Shot Show!
@@tacticaltavern I didn’t know ! Thanks for taking the time to enlight me
@@archibaldmagicien530 Hey thanks for taking the time to watch! ✅🔪
Thank You guys for sharing an interesting info!!! With Love from Latvia!!!🫡🇱🇻👍
It looks like those DCC clips aren't super rigid on the belt loop, do they make similar clip options to help keep it more rigid in that location? It always bothered me when a holster/sheath moved around on me
They make a variety of different sizes
I went with the largest snd most versatile however it is mainly designed to be vertical on the belt but I like playing around with carry options.
If you clip this to your pocket the pants will rip before the clip moves ✅
Try the DCC “behind the belt” clips. They are shorter so won’t move around as much
@@thedefenselab Yes! I did try those however I enjoy how the larger ones can transition to a strong side vertical position on the belt! Other smaller knives have the clip you are talking about and they work great!
what belt are you wearing in this video?
This is the Blue Alpha Gear EDC cobra belt but I recommend checking out my recent review on the Kore Essentials video as I mention both- hope it helps!
Where did you get the clip for the sheath?
Discreet Carry Concepts
Curious with that PVD coating , how does it hold up with scratches, chips etc? Not to familiar with PVD
Very robust! I only have one scratch on the coating from a nail but other than that very durable
@@tacticaltavern awesome.. thanks
Cold steel Roach Belly is basically this knife at a ridiculous price in comparison.
For $20 it’s hard to beat the Roach Belly but I certainly love the refinement on this Chopper ✅🔪
Thanks for watching 👊🏼
That's a nasty lil blade 👍🏻
It really has quickly become one of my favorites! 👍🏼🔪
@@tacticaltavern I really like the carry position set up appendix like that. How does that feel while driving,?
@@cloudnine8842 The only downside of carrying it in the belt loop is that you forget its there sometimes - very comfortable even in the car
Just a gimmick Like much Bastinelli stuff.
Show me how efficient it is in Reverse grip slicing 😁😁😁😁 how much of the Blade Hits the target 😁😁😁
You not a fan?
@@tacticaltavern Not a Fan of useless Designs. But for collectors a nice unit
The CRKT 'Clever Girl' is basically this knife at a lower price.
Fair Point- I see what you're saying
Not really. The materials used and handle ergos are completely different than the crkt. The only thing they have in common is they are both Persians.
@@kyleman605 yeah I meant the look. Obviously the cheaper one is made of less expensive Shit.
