That’s not what happened. The animatronics were very cutting edge at the time and expensive. And while they made them in mind to be water resistant and last a long time, they inevitably would lose functionality as they operated every day for years out in open air and weather. And fixing them was all the more expensive as time went on, and usually was worth little return. So they kind of just decayed in quality as the ride aged.
OH. So the animatronics WERENT corny....they just let them break and rot....then repainted them neon colors to hide the lack of mobility....Look at my parasaurolophus animatronic...look how they massacred my boi.
I find this comment hilarious, because when I went on this ride in 2016, the parasaurolophus was half-deflated... the front of its face drooped like it smushed its face against a pillow too hard.
Man you can tell that they haven’t been taking care of this ride throughout the years. Most of the animatronics looked worn down and didn’t work as well as 97. They didn’t even try to hide the mechanics holding the T Rex at the end by 2018
They probably just changed things to keep it from breaking so much. the 2019 ending is pretty lame compared to the close encounter of the years prior. The timing is horrible.
in 1997 there were so much more jump scares, the dino coming out of the water the car and the 2 dino's jumping out. The screen part really kills it to be honest and I loved the Brachiosaurus at the start it's so iconic.. all gone =|
This video made me realize to go on the new rides with animatronics during their first few years. The experience and fluidity will never be the same afterwards
I remember riding this in 97 back when I was in middle school. It was a rainy day too, so the Lagoon scene was so beautiful. I was so awed by that moment, but I knew the big drop at the end was coming, and I was so busy trying to cover myself, so I didn't get soaked that I missed the T-rex and I had to wait for ages to see it again on youtube. I regret covering up. I also regret not going back after that visit. Either way, I could never understand why the videos in later years could never capture that magic from 97 till I saw the original video in the top left. That was the smooth reality I remember.
To me, it has just as much jungle but just in illogical places. The futuristic modern sections took out half of the outside portion of the ride. But then there was randomly a long jungle scene in the main building? I could pretend like it was maybe a large cage equipped with full on cliffs and trees ... but it just didn't make as much sense to put it there.
I rode it in 99, was 11, in my memory it was perfect, like being in the movie. Rode it again in 2015, it felt like half the dinosaur were missing or bad animatronics, and the car was falling way too slowly. Until today I thought my child memory had embellish the ride, when it fact, it was just better in it's early days. Really glad I had that experience. I also have no hype for the new version.
I was barely a year old being born in 96, and even I know that the 97 Jurassic Park ride is something I'd want to travel back to the past and experience, like come on now lol

I agree - if you pause at 5:08, you can see exactly how horrible it was in 2018. Then in 2019 there’s really no jump/scare factor for me at all. 1997 was definitely the “holy shit” moment. Sad.

What’s insane is that even though my only experience of the ride was in 2018 (when everything was pretty broken), the structure and story of the ride still held up...and the T-Rex at the end remained terrifying. I came in with no expectations and even the half-working ride blew me away.
I had the opportunity to enjoy the 1997 (in 2001) and 2009 (in 2010) rides and I just remember how terrified I was in the first one (it felt very realistic). Now I see the JW remode and felt sad, they just put a lot of neon colors, took out the items that located you in a jungle and bc of that you can notice even more that are animatronics, all those "scenography" that it used to have was what really transported you to the Jurassic world :(
Love how they exchanged the animatronic dinosaurs to tv-screens... Well, it actually fits the ride good since they pretty much ONLY used CGI (and bad cgi...) in JW instead of animatronics due to JP were almost everything were dolls, suits and animatronics.
I love this comparison. Please make sure you all check out the 2021 edition of the ride, they have updated a lot since 2019 and you can tell. However, that 1997 version cannot be beat, put pure fear in you as a child
I rode the JP ride in 2017. After years & years & years of wanting to ride it, I eventually did. For a brief moment I was a kid again. It was the most amazing ride experience of my life, I was so used to seeing it on UA-cam but to actually experience it? Pure magic. A year later they destroyed it. If I went to LA one year too late, I would’ve missed my chance & would’ve been absolutely gutted beyond words
I heard they're gonna add more to the Jurassic world ride so it's not entirely finished. Reccently the side dinosuar at around 5:06 near the trex has been removed so its just the trex roaring for now.
Man I wish I was born years before 1997 so I could witness the ride in it's glory days. Oh and the building section looks way darker and has more smoke in the 97 version then the newer versions
the weird one Yes. This morning Universal Studios Hollywood’s UA-cam channel posted a behind the scenes video on the Jurassic World ride. You can see in the video a full Indominus Rex on a screen, and footage of its claws being worked on.
I distinctly remember riding this in....I believe it was 05, then again in 09. I remember how beautiful everything was in 05, but by 09 it looked like it did in the video. I can only imagine how bad it was in real life by 2018.
Wow 1997 >>> … taking out the little guys fighting over the popcorn, the dropping Ford, the dude popping up out the water for a quick startle, and removing the other yellow damaged boat were all stupid ideas. So glad I got to experience the original ride
OMG thanks for this! Not only is the sound quality decent, but the comparison overlay is just perfect to really study and experience this ride. I hope you'll add in a fifth screen with the newest renovation with the epic Irex attacks now?!
I can only imagine how bulky the cam recorder was in 1997 lol ..I remember holding one that was almost size of my head when I was a kid in those days ..my dad had to follow me while holding it lol
While the split audio was driving me insane (I get why you did it that way, my brain just couldn't process it all lol) this is a really cool side by side (by side by side?) View of how this ride evolved.
This is a very interesting view. How does the Animatronic count differ? More of the new one seems to be inside, but more of the original was outdoors. I’m sure the outdoors put more stress on the animatronics, but it feels more natural. I like the Mosasaurus though. Is that a screen? This was cool to watch, thank you!
The four dinosaurs in the opening scene of the original seem to be missing, as well as the two fighting over the popcorn bin right before the Gallimimus pops out of the water. The Dilophosaurus on the lifeboat is also missing, along with the lifeboat. If the falling car counts as an animatronic, it's missing as well but probably won't come back. What's interesting to note is that the many of the animatronics that were missing outdoors in 2018 are now restored on the 2019 ride. Perhaps the other animatronics are currently being restored. Blue and the I-Rex are new additions, and it's rumored that the I-Rex animatronic will receive more updates (like moving arms) after the soft opening. Blue seems to be pretty advanced and have a lot of movement.
I think having more of the ride inside fits the theming of the Jurassic World movie, where it is more of a dinosaur Disneyland while Jurassic Park was more of a dinosaur zoo. Jurassic World seems to make an alternate storyline though, where the Blue and the I-Rex immediately go inside padlock 9 and encounter the T-Rex (instead of Claire letting the T-Rex out). The Jurassic Park ride seemed to fit more with its film. As for the outdoors, the predator cove seems to have a lot of gaps in it, so perhaps they'll add more animatronics there soon. Over the past month though the cove has received some updates that are shown in the video, such as the signs for the T-Rex and I-Rex, so more updates are likely on the way.
Awesome JediE However the Mosasaur is done, it looks really good, at least from this video. Blue looks really good, but the raptor that falls through the ceiling still lacks some realism. I’m sad that the falling car is gone, that was an impressive stunt that looked really good. The I-Rex and the T-Rex both look really good, and it’ll be interesting to see what modifications they’ll make. I like your comparisons of Jurassic park being a dinosaur Zoo and Jurassic World being a dinosaur Disneyland. I like a lot of the concrete work, it looks just like the industrial buildings seen on screen. I’ve never been on this ride, but it seems really technologically impressive, but I’m sad to have missed some of the animatronic heavy intro with the Brachio. Thank you for your reply!
The 2019 video is very much from LA, my wife and i just came back from Orlando last week and the 2018 video is more in line with what we experienced, a few things are different but mostly on point, the opening was the same and they updated the crashed boat. Pretty much the sae experience as the 2018 ride
I want the old ride back, it's actually terrifying and surprisingly the animatronics are quite fluid of 1997. This might also be because I personally prefer the older movies more too. But as long as people still enjoy the altered ride
I love the addition of the Enominus in the new version. I rode this in all the years listed except this year. I still think the ride looked so much better in the 90’s then anytime in the 2000’s. The animatronics were more active and the colors of the dinosaurs looked more realistic. I think this update looks amazing though and can’t wait to see it after the pandemic! 🦖❤️

Wow that's a jump scare from '97 that was straight up omitted from the ride
Nothing beats the orginal "Welcome to jurrasic park"
Yo, dude. It will NEVER replace the Welcome to Jurasssic Park line from John Hammond.
97 T-rex head movement was so fluid and smooth and the tongue movement was really good!
The was really cool. I think 2009 was the best year for that ride.
I remember the first time on the 97 version when i was a kid.... That t-rex at the end scared the shit out of me
What’s insane is that even though my only experience of the ride was in 2018 (when everything was pretty broken), the structure and story of the ride still held up...and the T-Rex at the end remained terrifying. I came in with no expectations and even the half-working ride blew me away.
I was in this rollercoaster in 1991 and it was already! This one should be a monument for Universal
1997, the best version period.
1997: I believe it is really awesome. 2019: just so - so
I had the opportunity to enjoy the 1997 (in 2001) and 2009 (in 2010) rides and I just remember how terrified I was in the first one (it felt very realistic). Now I see the JW remode and felt sad, they just put a lot of neon colors, took out the items that located you in a jungle and bc of that you can notice even more that are animatronics, all those "scenography" that it used to have was what really transported you to the Jurassic world :(
Look how smooth and fast were the dilophosaurus!!
4:57 love how you said “I love you mom” 😍🤣 felt that
Love how they exchanged the animatronic dinosaurs to tv-screens...
Well, it actually fits the ride good since they pretty much ONLY used CGI (and bad cgi...) in JW instead of animatronics due to JP were almost everything were dolls, suits and animatronics.
Yep.
I love this comparison. Please make sure you all check out the 2021 edition of the ride, they have updated a lot since 2019 and you can tell. However, that 1997 version cannot be beat, put pure fear in you as a child
Great video. I rode this in summer of 1997 when I was 12 and I’m glad I got to see this awesome ride at its best.
If I went to LA one year too late, I would’ve missed my chance & would’ve been absolutely gutted beyond words
this just gave me so much nostalgia
Damn, I havent watched the full vid yet but it's so unique how you seperate the audios left and right. Nicely done, deserved a like.
1997: Amazing 2009: Very Amazing 2018: Cool ,but not amazing 2019: The beautiful park is destroyed
Even with the new ending of the Jurassic World Ride, it can never top the Jurassic Park ride
True
Wow I remember the Jurassic Park ride as a child! It scared the shit out of me! The truck was what really did me in! I forgot all about this!!
I heard they're gonna add more to the Jurassic world ride so it's not entirely finished. Reccently the side dinosuar at around 5:06 near the trex has been removed so its just the trex roaring for now.
Perfect version 97💚
Man I wish I was born years before 1997 so I could witness the ride in it's glory days.
Oh and the building section looks way darker and has more smoke in the 97 version then the newer versions
4:58 “I LOVE YOU MOM!!”💀💀💀
Okay... I'm now remembering why this ride freaked me out as a kid and not as an adult because the version I went on (1997) was the best.
2018, That first dino looks like he's begging for a mercy killing.
amazing video
1997: focused on full immersion, and magic; 2019: focused on easy maintenance, and efficiency
I rode the original version as a toddler and it was one of my fondest memories. I shed a tear right now.
I loved the Jurassic Park attraction because it looked like a dinosaur version of the Jungle Cruise!
YES! featuring tension and an epic drop at the end :D
@@AwesomeJediE A drop with a tyrannosaurus rex? Heck yeah!
It’s evolving, just backwards
Edit: the 2021 update to the ride was a bit of a upgrade at least
How is something almost 20 years older, look BETTER than something newer
Do you think the rumors are true that the ride is still unfinished?
the weird one Yes. This morning Universal Studios Hollywood’s UA-cam channel posted a behind the scenes video on the Jurassic World ride. You can see in the video a full Indominus Rex on a screen, and footage of its claws being worked on.
@@AwesomeJediE I hope they can add new dinosaurs as well
@@theweirdone242 welp seems like it was, it's currently on refurbishment and it's not even been a full year since it opened

Link please
Yea it was, the 2021 one looks so much better
Look at how amazing the animatronics looked brand new. Almost better than they act today!
The 1997 ride has 2 videos just scene it but this is truly amazing keep the videos coming I love them and for me it brings back memories
DINO POWER!! 🦖 SheRexGram here saying Hello and Liking your awesome content! 🦕 🦖
Woah woah woah the 97 T. rex has stripes !?! That must be awesome

the rest of the rides: Cool Iconic Brachiosaurus Animatronics
2019: Animation!

Yeah I hate when the rides are made out of animation, the robotics are way cooler in my opinion
This ride was great for a couple of years after it first opened and it's just been an awkward cycle of salvage attempts in the decades since.
Can’t wait to see the new comparison with the 2021 update
OMG thanks for this! Not only is the sound quality decent, but the comparison overlay is just perfect to really study and experience this ride. I hope you'll add in a fifth screen with the newest renovation with the epic Irex attacks now?!
My favorites probably from the 2009 because the effect of the Jeep falling down is pretty cool
'97 version was how I remembered it from my 2005 trip! My favorite version!! Just went on the ride in 2022, and was sad at how different it was.
Excited to ride this next week!
This was great!
The newest version doesn’t look as exciting or atmospheric .
I think the Mosasaurus is combined with an aquarium and a 360 or curved screen right behind it since it has more dimension to it than just a screen.
@@paulvillemocs No problem!
Damn the 97 paralophosaurus though. Would love to see that returned to its former glory.
