My dentist had an xbox and I played Pac-man World 2 on it! It was one of the first video games I ever played and I loved it so much I got an xbox myself when I was older and you better believe Pac-man World 2 was one of the fist games I got! It's crazy that both our dentists had Pac-Man games!!! :-D

As of 2022, PAC-MAN is 42 years old and it's still famous and fun to play today! It never gets old.

You're so right about the arcade feel. It's a totally epic experience. Every time I go to the Pizza Inn, I get to play Pac-Man on one. They have an arcade space in back. Pizza + Pac-Man is great, but I always run out of quarters.

Possibly the first video game I Ever played back in around 80-81 when I was about 4-5 years old. I remember bits and pieces of that experience even today.

Putting a MAME machine together with a four way joystick will work. You can even get the exact joystick from HAPP, which i did. Plays great!
Im looking for one of these. If I couldnt find one,I will make one myself,I already have the plans for it. I will track down a monitor,get cables,get artwork and get plywood.

Pac-Man really changed the world, and it's still one of my favorite games to play. I purposefully avoid using "the pattern" and try to play on instinct. It's so much fun; and you feel like Bruce Lee when you dodge all 4 ghosts, then turn around and take'em all out. Even though it's the same maze, the speed varies and increases as you progress through the stages. So it stays interesting and challenging. Congratulations on getting that machine!
Love me some PacMan. It’s in my top 5 of all time. Also, love the Van Halen references!!!!

I migrated to Pac-Man CE 2 years ago, but I still love a little bit of the original from time to time.
It's a shame they never made CE for the arcades, because I think it would have made a rather great game to have in a proper cabinet. ...with changing levels. ...and more cherries.
Well done on getting your own machine, looks to be in very nice condition. Unfortunately not many official machines come up over here, most of them are rebranded generic cabinets.
I don't think I've played Pac-Man on an arcade machine, maybe once but I would always see a Ms. Pacman/Galaga machine in bowling alleys, Jillans (now dave & buster), supermarkets, etc. If I ever would buy an arcade machine it's definitely be pac man related

As much as I've wanted to own a Pac-Man machine for myself for as long as I can remember, I'm confident I'll never need to, as there seems to be a Pac-Man machine practically everywhere I go. It's great.
Also, I've always preferred Ms. Pac-Man myself (though maybe just because I've played it more), but the original is definitely still a classic.
Oh, I've got it on plenty of different platforms, but you can't go wrong having it in its original format. Gotta be authentic, man!

One thing that I never got was how come Pacman could like eat all those pellets and ghosts and what not but never go to the bathroom?

The original Pac-Man is okay, but here are my top 8 favorite Pac-Man games of all time:
1. Ms. Pac-Man (Tengen Version for Sega Genesis/Super NES).
2. Pac-Mania.
3. Pac-Attack.
4. Pac-Man World 1 (The sequels really suck and I hate the GBA version).
5. Super Pac-Man (Looks fun, but I never played it).
6. Pac-Man Arrangement.
7. Pac-Man Championship Edition DX/Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+.
And 8. Ms. Pac-Man: Maze Madness (I hate the GBA version).

my local hot dog stand has a mrs pac man machine that worked from long as i can remember until just a few years ago now it just collects dust and is dormant. i want to offer to buy it but no idea how to fix them up

Pac-Man looks so weird on the cabinet art of this arcade game, why isn't he a ball with arms and legs like in later Pac-Man games?

The arcade version is just the best,too bad there's only 1 maze level wich keeps repeating itself but only getting harder.
Do you need to pay to play?
Yeah, Pac-Man is a great game until you play against some little shit at the arcade that knows the damn pattern. Then you gotta wait like 20 fucking minutes between turns. Then your only lasts for a minute, or two, because you totally suck at Pac-Man. You know what? Fuck this game!

***** nothing beats the real thing, but there are advantages to using an arcade emulator.
1. FREE. you dont have to throw money at it to play.
2. NO WAITING TURNS or SCREAMING KIDS. just you and the game... and maybe a couple of friends if you have the controllers. XD
really im surprised this is looked down upon as much as it is. with arcades a dying art form, its nice to turn your simple laptop into an arcade of its own.

Is there any reason behind Pac-Man popping up on Nintendo's menagerie (which probably inspired this review to some extent)? All of a sudden a GBA Pac-Man collection (different versions and a falling-blocks puzzle) game shows up while he leaps into the Super Smash Bros. fray, and I'm just wondering if there's some cause for celebration besides Nintendo spending money on yet another awesome and surprising thing because they got the Wii U out of the just-released rut.

Didn’t experience PacMan at an arcade, but they did have one at the movie theatre back in the days. I’d have a game of PAC Man and Sinistar then proceeded into the theatre to see the newest Nightmare On Elm Street or Friday 13th

I once had crt pc monitor with no picture, the neckboard didin't make good contact.
yeah we replaced the fused checked all the connections and everything but it still doesn't work and the price about $300. the reason we dont get it fixed is because we dont have a truck so we cant even take it to the place to fix it

man~ playing the arcade version of Pac-man. it's been a loooooong time since i played one. it was so much fun just to play like 4 games (a quarter for each) and chomp away. though i wasn't that great when i was like...7 or 9, but i bet now i could kick some ecto ass!
