There was a saying in ww2 that quite described the safety of P-47: "If you want to send a picture home to your sweetheart, you take it with the Mustang. If you want to make it home to her, you fly the Jug."
The P-47 Thunderbolt built around a huge engine and the A-10 Thunderbolt II being built around a huge gun. Man gotta love it when WW2 era planes receive a wonderful successor.
I don't see many resemblances between these two, tbh. Apart from P-47 being used as ground attack fighter sometimes. They could've choose a better name. Maybe from an attack aircraft.
Unpopular opinion here: I love the P-47 N-15, I love how it looks I love how it dives at mach 0.75 without so much as a shudder, I love that it has clipped wings whilst still having a larger wing surface area than the D variants. It's not the fastest plane on the deck, it's not the fastest climbing one either but my god does it look spectacular. I personally believe that if they decided to make a lightened version of the P-47 N-15 with the engine and airbrakes from the P-47 M-1-RE, that would have undoubtedly been the ultimate P-47.
I'm agreed with you there. It feels like within WT, the Thunderbolt tree is a bit of a branch. Some only get a captured Early. Some get the midwar bubble canopy. But the Americans get to keep their strange special N-Model and the souped-up M to themselves. If they'd just combined the best of the two aircraft at some point, we'd have one hell of a plane.
Fun fact. No P47 had dive breakes. They are dive exit flaps that were used to exit a dive at high speeds, when the controls on the elevator begsn to be stiff. Some of the P38 Lightning variants also had them. So, overall, these dive exit flaps were not to slow down the aircraft, but to interrupt the airflow below the wing in a such manner that it'll push nose of the aircraft up.
I'm always looking how foolish p47 pilots are has always see that and turn fighting against zeros worse aircraft u could turn fight in p47 and let not forget always going for head on against aircraft like heavy fighters and wonder why there amazing P47 been turned into confetti
Excellent! Y’all have finally recognized how amazing the P-47 was. So, ummm….. How about correcting the model? Of all the bubble canopy Jugs in War Thunder, only the D-25 should lack the fillet on the vertical stabilizer. Every other variant in game should have the tail configuration as modeled on the P-47M. And if you’d like to include the larger capacity engine oil and water injection tanks of the bubble tops I don’t think anyone will mind.
Yeah, I complety agree with you, the P 51 is overstimated, the only thing good it had was it's range, turn speed was average, roll rate the same too, and the aircraft was unbalance, to the point it had to empy first it's internal fuel tank before the external, so when the mustang enter battle had to drop the nearly full tanks, it ended up with little combat time, the Thunderbolt in other hand was a beast, fire power, speed retencion after a dive, maximun altitude, there were so few aircraft that were equal or supirior than the P 47 (fire power and speed retencion I would say the FW 190 was a close contender [the A variant]) (altitude the Ta 152 H was the best piston engine aircraft in that regard in WWWII); it was so good that I remember reading abaout that the pilots in the Korean war would had prefered the P 47 over the P 51 to flight in that war
@@boomboomyourdoomdoom1767 Mustangs did empty the tank behind the pilot before drawing from drop tanks. Some bombers actually rip their wings when turning too hard, so saying you dogfight in bombers is untrue. I also doubt you are able to dogfight all kinds of planes and win. The Thunderbolt was the first aircraft I ever strived to get. With the American P47-D-25 variant being my all time favourite due to the sleek look. I absolutely loved the 47 for it’s raw unforgiving speed, and it’s skill at high altitude made it a beauty when engaging bombers. The firepower always Impressed me and I felt like I could do something no matter the belt I used. Even though it wasn’t a maneuverable aircraft, it made up for that with its durability. It will always hold a special place in my heart.
As a US main I tried it a lot and I can't play with the P-47. It's just not possible. It's lack of manoeuvrability and bad climb rate is just fatal. You're at the wrong altitude? Well, then you're nowhere near as quick as the statcard advertises the Thunderbolt to be. A plane is above you and diving, and thus quicker? Too bad, you'll either get shot down or run for the airfield and get no kill or even hit. Well, then how about I climb to a higher altitude? Nope, the P-47s rate of climb isn't good enough. I don't know, a P-51 or an A6M is just much better in my personal opinion.
@@boomboomyourdoomdoom1767 It turns good at very high speeds, but that doesn't matter, because you lose your speed immediately. Also, outturning a 109? Maybe a very close to stall speed Bf 109K, but I don't think it could outturn a normal speed Bf109.

You can record the server replay in the ps4 then get a usb and get on the usb and then you can send it, I think, idk I never tried doing that in my ps4
Easily my favorite plane in WT. It flies like a dream, and while most another fighters can outurn at low speed, the Thunderbolt exells in it's ability to extend away, climb, then reset the fight.
Didn't like it, prefer mustang for its better versatility (all around stats at speed, climb, turn and firepower) I don't even bring P-47 for ground RB as i prefer Navy planes for that like Hellcat, Corsair, Bearcat, Mauler and Skyraider Why? Because their engine are tuned for low altitude and still having a good turn rate More importantly the payload is match or even surpass P-47 payload They also commonly armed with cannon which even more devastating than 50cal

Cheers to Bruce and all WarThunder team! Amazing images!
The thunderbolt is a personal favorite of mine.
Thunderbollltttt
Jug is love jug is life
The Jug (gernaut). Like, is it just me oris it looking kinda T H I C C
I just one shot a plane in my su-9
The story is, I am quite bad using planes but on mixed battles, I am great, on a Sweden map I died on my bt5 with a cap point to my name, I got into my Su-9, flying into the battlefield I notixed an A2d getting some kills, I ignored him first ti take off my payload, I forgot what happened but I know that I saw the A2d on my tail, secinds after he shot me, knowing planes can overshoot while killing a plane, I decided to fire my rounds in hoping to kill the A2d but he went hard right, luckily my downed plane rolling on the air suddenly hits the plane and got the kill with my 37 mm cannon, I wish to submit this on Thunder Show but I play PS4, I just think its impossible to just submit a replay to their account.
You can record the server replay in the ps4 then get a usb and get on the usb and then you can send it, I think, idk I never tried doing that in my ps4
I'm surprised they haven't added a premium Aztec Eagles version.
Planes like these scare me because of my love of playing Sweden 💀
Easily my favorite plane in WT. It flies like a dream, and while most another fighters can outurn at low speed, the Thunderbolt exells in it's ability to extend away, climb, then reset the fight.
Are you planning to bring back the panther II tiger II 105cm, for your 10th anniversary ?
Can you make a video about the a 10 Thunderbolt 2?
This thumbnail reminds me of a certain black guy with lightning
thunderbolt repair cost out of the game
1:03 "Meshersmit" = Meschersmitt? 😀
Next week Teaser??? I assume so lol
the p47 is the most quintessential American aircraft
Didn't like it, prefer mustang for its better versatility (all around stats at speed, climb, turn and firepower)
I don't even bring P-47 for ground RB as i prefer Navy planes for that like Hellcat, Corsair, Bearcat, Mauler and Skyraider
Why? Because their engine are tuned for low altitude and still having a good turn rate
More importantly the payload is match or even surpass P-47 payload
They also commonly armed with cannon which even more devastating than 50cal
unpopular opinion but i find the P-47 is more versitile than the P-51 in game
How do I get Bruce to say “thunderbolt” for my alarm clock sound??????
Can we get a Bruce voice pack?
fun fact: Alexander Kartveli (Kartvelishvili) designed A10 thunderbolt II too.
Can you do a us spaa (I think it would be really cool)
Q: When a smoke shell gets hit does it explode?
Oy war thunder cant you fix the mission editor when intercept bomber mission its bugging
The Americans: "no no no this thing is like trying to fly a Lincoln Towns car!"
The English: "ohhhh yesssss this plane is astounding ...why did the yanks not like it? ....works perfectly for bomber escort duty! *sips tea* "
Can you make a video series about the different Maps and explain how they came to be?
Highly mobile!?
dude i really like these kind of videos! Good work Gaijin.
Sup Bruce!
Awesome 😎 thunderbolts fun and deadly
thunderbolt more like Crash into ground
Why use the thunderbolt II when you got the thunderbolt
Qartveli was from Georgia 🇬🇪🇬🇪🇬🇪💗
I think p47 n-15 and maybe some other variants need an interceptor spawn so at least with n-15 there would be an excuse to raise it to 5.3 br
P-47's used to be able to airspawn. There's a reason it was removed, good players could abuse the hell out of the spawn and squeeze more power than worthy out of its BR.
@@revolver265 Why doesn't the same thing happen with the p38?
I love pwane
Is there any plane that is in as many techtrees as the P47?
Bring the chat back
A-10 of it's time
No the P-47 was much better.
@@iexist.imnotjoking5700 pass the blunt bro, I want some of that
@@terrythetemplar1169 The Thunderbolt was a better plane for the time period. The A-10 Thunderbolt II is easy food for AA and enemy fighters. And it's armament is ok at best. It's survivability doesn't matter in the times of high-rate of fire autocannons and missiles. And that's that.
