  • Objective: HyeBrand with Sona Oganesyan aims to intensify the dialogue about the development and branding of Armenia through talking to prominent figures who have had influence and interesting ideas on the subject.
    Intro: Just before the Velvet Revolution in Armenia, I created a show where my guests and I could hang out and have a casual conversation about the development and branding of Armenia. I felt there are so many great aspects we simply aren’t taking enough advantage of in order to increase tourism and investments so I wanted to start a dialogue. The idea was to speak to different prominent figures that have put Armenia in the headlines internationally and/or have contributed to the branding of the country through their own accomplishments. By having politicians, athletes, musicians, artists, scientists, etc.. all give their own take on the subject, we will be exposed to different and interesting perspectives.
    If only my 14 year old self knew one day I’d be sitting with Serj Tankian of System of a Down, in his home studio, shooting an episode for my own show!
    Finally publishing the FULL INTERVIEW from last year. It took longer than we hoped because 2020 has been kinda crazy in case you hadn’t noticed ;)
    Serj was my ideal guest for HyeBrand because the concept of the show is to speak to prominent figures who have put Armenia in the headlines internationally and have had influence on branding the country - Serj Tankian and System of a Down were the first to put Armenia on the map for a lot of young people of our generation. Before they became a Grammy Award winning group, no one in my high school had ever heard of Armenia. When students would ask me where I’m from, the reaction to my response was always, “Romanian? Albanian? Armeniaaan…what’s that?!”
    System of a Down changed stereotypes, influenced our culture, revolutionized Rock music all over the world, and educated the world about the Armenian Genocide.
    In this interview we discuss how they became so successful, what made Armenia’s revolution so unique from his perspective, his take on Venezuela, what we can do to enhance the cultural revolution in Armenia, what assets could Armenia be taking more advantage of, will System of a Down record another album, to my HUUUUUGE surprise how Serj didn’t start playing music until he was in college and is entirely self-taught, and so much more....
    I find Serj to be so honest, interesting, and engaging that we decided not to edit anything out, and publish this in its entirety for you guys, including some behind the scenes clips!
    Executive Producer: Sona Oganesyan
    Guest: Serj Tankian
    Post-Production: Karen Kocharyan
    Post-production sound: Levon Navasardyan
    Music: Serj Simonyan (Serjo)

      Basically, they were opening for Slayer and the audience started throwing bottles, trash, and stuff that could injure the band. But Serj says there are no hard feelings towards it but I don't think any of the other memebers have said anything about it.

    Serj,
    I am from Venezuela. I had to leave my home country because I was prosecuted by the Maduro government. More than 4.5 million people have left the country. Venezuela is unlivable. Food is a treasure, water is rationed to 15 minutes a day in the capital and other states sometimes dont have water for a week or more. Power is also rationed. Venezuela is one of the countries with most oil reserve in the world, and yet there is gas shortage. Chavez was in power for 14 years and Maduro for 7 years now. Democracy has been destroyed. My people tried to raise their voice and protest for 2 years in a row and thousands of thousands of students were killed. There's no HUMAN RIGHTS in my country. The opposition leader is not a saint either. My people don't have guns. All the guns are controlled by paramilitary groups that are paid by the government. Prison system is corrupt. The army is full of Cubans. All of these have been proofed. What I hate the most is that left wing people always cover left wing government and do not critize the bad. You tried to say something about Maduro and you retreated. People are dying from starvation. 25,000 people die every year due to crime!!!! Do you think this is logical for one of the country with most oil reserve in the world? Yet, you continue to "support" Maduro. My people have tried it all and that's why we support an intervation because we are desperate. WE CANNOT GET RID OF THE GOVERNMENT. Maduro and his people are drug dealers. They acocomplished what Pablo Escobar wanted to accomplish but never could which is to have a government position. Diosdado Cabello (Maduro's second) is the leader of a cartel. This has been proofed before...... What is your solution here? 21 years of the same GOVERNMENT. Do you call this democracy or autocracy?

      I think what Serj is saying is that USA should not interfere in other countries businesses, specially by unilaterally confiscating all financial means and strangling the whole economy of a country already struggling only to make all the things you describe even worse.
      And let's not forget that the USA administration does not give a rats ass over other's democracies, plutocracies or dictatorships. It's all about what they think they can get for the big corporations.

    • @aldonemra2386
      @aldonemra2386 Рік тому

      Maybe you weren’t listening to what Serj was saying. He said he was against Trump’s sanctions, the same style Reagan and Bush had used before which usually end up hurting the normal joe and causing all the food and power shortages.

    • @aldonemra2386
      @aldonemra2386 Рік тому

      Maybe Serj should have advocated boycotting and freezing the Azeri assets in the US, since that country is a living, breathing tyranny.
