i think she doesn't talk down to the guys but instead, with this kind of voice and approach, makes herself seem an oblivious yet curious person, who they would want to explain things more in detail
I was a little kid in Brazil who just loved System of a Down. One day I asked my aunt, who had access to a computer at the time, to print for me a translation of some System of a Down song. The translation she brought home was "Needles". Imagine that lyrics printed on a paper with no context, no song, no rhymes. Jus sheer and raw meaning.
because thats not how they view themselves and that's not what they aspired to be. if you called them nu metal legends, they didnt care, they just wanted to write songs and perform. its the fans that use words like that, it doesnt reflect the band.
@@oui2611 well, yeh, most bands don't say "we're trying to be a [genre] album!" That doesn't mean they don't fit into a genre. I agree SOAD isn't really nu metal but them not trying to be nu metal isn't an argument that they're not.
you could call them nu-metal, you could call them a lot of things but they werent trying to be any particular style so they kinda js made their own genre lolol
just 3 days before 9/11 ...i was 12 then and i learned about them 1 year later ..they really changed everything in my adolescence.. its cool to see them as an adult ...they sure deserved the attention of the musical world.
Doctor:You have 30 minutes to live Me:Oh okay I know what to do *Watches video* ~ 30 minutes later ~ Me:OH NO THERE'S STILL 8 MINUTES AND 37 SECONDS LEFT~
I remember watching this video 12 years ago and commenting about how at some point in the vid when Serj starts talking the room gets brighter. Wow how time fly's.
Serj : Well, Daron writes most of the music, and he arranges it, and brings it to us. And ge also writes a lot of the lyrics. Reporter: So, it's a collaboration. ..... Huh? Lol
Hopefully someday some concert footage from the making of the video for Chop Suey! will surface. I'd really like to hear Daron sing Whitney Houston. XD
This an interview when they were still Bert respectful of one another and they were interested in working together. They were trying to define their places in contributing to the band
THANK YOU FOR THE WORLD SO SWEET THANK YOU FOR THE FOOD WE EAT, THANK YOU FOR THE BIRDS THAT SING, THANK YOU GOD FOR EVERYTHING, AND GOD BLESS AUNT PAM AND UNCLE BOB AND HUGGER TOO. AND MEME
That's because they tend to be intelligent people with common sense and a distinctive need to deliver meaningful messages (at least the succesful artists) instead of ordinary pop crap (partying, shallow feelings, baby baby baby oooooh, and so on...)
Make music. Serj is doing solo stuff and Daron has another band called Scars on Broadway. You should check them both out. In my opinion Scars sounds more like traditional System music since it's all written by Daron, who wrote System music.
Awesome interview! Wow i can‘t wait to hear this new “Toxicity“ album !
Im not trying to get off rude but did u realize that this is from 2001. : )
+Dylan Jared You must not understand sarcasm
Yah now that you mention it it does sound like sarcasm :p
Still waiting...where is it? 😢
can't stop looking at Serj
Serj: Wearing Obey before it was cool.
Nathan Bowen serj made it cool
The interviewer sounds like she thinks she's talking to three year old kids.
steven miles yea like condescending even, that’s what annoys me so fucking much more than anything in the world. it puts me off idk why

Daron was so adorable aww
they're so cool and real
"We can't copy ourselves, so nobody can copy us" i LOVE that!!
We definitely didn't want to do a double album.
Cut to Hypnotize/Mesmerize
When they wrote 30 songs it was too much for one album. Hence steal this album. Then they did the same with mezmerize/hypnotize so..
This looks like a home video filmed by a mom for a recital lmao
I love how Daron says he doesnt feel involved in Nu Metal. But yet they are like the Nu Metal fucking gods lmao
because thats not how they view themselves and that's not what they aspired to be. if you called them nu metal legends, they didnt care, they just wanted to write songs and perform. its the fans that use words like that, it doesnt reflect the band.
I don't see them as Nu Metal either. And time has proven it. Nu metal is a dated. SOAD is timeless.
