My wife and I met Fred Durst during the Summer Sanitarium tour in Philly. We were late getting to the concert and we saw him back by the tour bus. We called out for autographs and pictures. He came over and talked with us, we got a couple of pictures and several autographs. To us he was extremely nice.
He has calmed down over the years

If you actually watch interviews of Fred Durst, you realize that is just an act for the stage. The guy is very respectful and kind to interviewers, and fans alike. Durst gets a bad rep for the shit the crowds did at shows, not himself.
Also, Kid Rock may be douchy, but he is undoubtedly one of the best entertainers of the late 90s and early 00s.
You guys also missed one of the biggest reasons Ulrich is a douche. Ulrich is the entire reason the "And Justice for All" album has literally no bass in it. In the mix he had the tech almost completely turn down the bass notes so his drums could be heard more. The tech basically said he was crazy, and Ulrich lost his shit in the studio and forced them to change it. No doubt he did this due to distaste for Jason Newsted.
Kid Rock is still one of the best entertainers....12 shows and counting for me. He never disappoints. He has like 4 albums out there that I don't think ever had any radio play, if so, very little. But pretty much every track is great. And I totally agree about Fred Durst. He's a cool mofo, they call him a douche but forget about that year they played like 10 cities secretly and just set up on top of a building and started to play. So badass. But I am still waiting on "Stampede of the Disco Elephants," it's initial release was what...2012? lol

Look I love Billy Corgan. I have loved him for over two decades now but he's kind of a douche. There was this web comic a fan made in the late 90s/early 00s called Billy The Egomaniac. It lovingly poked fun at him but it was also true. Like we went in and rerecorded all of Siamese Dream bass and guitar sessions himself (and James and D'Arcy were pissed when the found out) And OMG the drama between him and D'Arcy when he pretty much uninvited her from the reunion tour. Teenage me was living for it.

I met Corgan. One of my favorite musicians. But sadly he has no social skills.
My couselor went to highschool with him (not sure middle and primary) and corgan offered him cocaine at a party, i think in 85? So he dopped billy as a friend and didnt know corgan was the lead singer of the smashing pumpkins till about 20 years later when he asked "what happened to billy" at his highschool reunion, his friends said something like "are you joking? Hes the lead singer of the smashing pumpkins" my couselor didnt even know the band lmao
Liam and Noel always supported and loved their fans they just happened to sometimes hate each other which is what kept the band going

My girlfriend once met Gene Simmons when Kiss played in Berlin. He visited a nursing home because he was interested in how they operate and she (not a Kiss fan at all) said he couldn't have been nicer. When I told her about his reputation she wouldn't believe a word. Maybe with age he got more civil.

Many people are only "assholes" in situations where this type of behavior is either necessary or favored in some way. "Celebrities" are people put on pedestals and then surrounded by many types of people, but within these types, there are mostly always parasites and haters. People who either want to drain something from them, or who actually want to take them down (from the pedestal). When you're in a position like this, you never know is a stranger is a potential fan or some sort of threat. Many people pretend to be nice in front of celebrities but trash them later on in articles or whatever (journalists, etc.), many people are after money and fame and see the celebrity as a gateway or stepping stone. Others may simply be psychos. Many "famous" people can be quite humble and normal when dealing with people who they know that don't care about their "fame", or who even don't know they're famous.

I saw Axl in concert last year. Put on the best show I've ever seen for 3 straight hours. Showed nothing but love to the fans. Played in the rain and never complained. I'm thinking he's not the douchebag he once was.

One thing about Axl Rose: This video is SUPER outdated looking at the date, he filled in for Brian Johnson when hearing made him unable to play live, and now he's usually the FIRST member at a Guns N Roses concert.
Be that as it may, that now has to overshadow a life time worth of acquired reputation. When you look at it that way, it's still easy to see why he made the list. Maybe doesn't deserve to be #1 but still.

It's a good list. I really like some of their music (Smashing Pumpkins), but agree that Corgan can be a a douche. One of the cornerstones attributed to rock-n=roll is anger, so I guess it is understandable that these people express it.
So wait, your reasoning for why Fred Durst is a douche bag is:
1. His band name is "Limp Bizkit".
2. He was popular in the 90s.
3. Some say he's abhorrent.
4. It's the little things that add up.
5. A cover you didn't like.
This just seems like the most petty reasons to not like someone. Thinking that his music sucks is fine, but what has the guy even done to deserve so much hate? It just seems like WatchMojo is trying to jump on the whole Limp Bizkit hate bandwagon of the early 2000s in order to appeal to their audience, which to me seems far douchier than doing a bad cover of a song.

I agree that Durst probably doesn't deserve all the hate he gets, but I also have to say that he's far from being the sharpest tool in the shed. Concerning Limp Bizkit, I'd actually say he's a decent singer and maybe doesn't deserve all the flack he's getting.
I'm not that much into the sound LB made, maybe because I'm an old fart in my mid-forties who mainly grew up with NWOBHM , Trash Metal and Punk Rock (and a serious affection for Ye Olde Ian Fraser Kilmister, because reasons) and a mind broad enough to like quite a number of other kinds of music. But I do recognize and appreciate LB's impact on their genre.
They might not be the best of their kind, but they have been significant, I'd say.
SWEGTA fred durst was probably the one kid in the class who needed an exercise ball and a pool noodle.

You left out Ritchie Blackmore (guitarist for Deep Purple and Rainbow). He’s a guitar god, and has influenced every hard rock/metal act ever, but his large ego and perfectionist ways caused him to quit Deep Purple twice. Not to mention that every album Rainbow recorded was with a different lineup because Blackmore would fire other members for literally anything (mostly if their playing style didn’t appeal to him).

I personally, stopped keeping up on celebrity news when I was a teen, couldn't pay for the mags as a young adult & had my struggles and had goals I wanted to achieve. I am old now and had about 30 min of celeb gossip today so rare and only off/on but it is not normal for me to
even do this. never paid to go to a rock concert, saw a few bands and never expect to meet
these folks in my life. so if I did, some people are surprised that i don't recognize them. it baffles me as to why. i threw a public health nurse out of my house for telling me that i would not be considered at risk of abusing my 1st born if I was married and read (purchased xyz magazines including celeb gossip rags) popular young people/ cosmo, redbook, etc... i read mags but I was exploring more genre and finding what i liked best--so if I liked mags that cost $5-$8 each back in the '80's then i didn't buy much at all. i liked the less common but well written stuff.
Also I see celebrities as human beings which most don't so my rules are few... i like folks who tell the truth, what do we have in common, political ideology is a make or break & how open- minded is this person & how much of a friend are they--so i am burnt out with folks equal to or worse than douchebags. If you don't know what a real douchebag is--it is a large rubber like

In all honesty, everyone on earth acts like a douche at times. That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bad people. Axl is a perfect example of this (he visited Steven in the hospital when he OD’d while the other band members went to shoot a scene for a movie, visited a fan with cancer who’s wish was to meet Axl, flew a Latino woman out to a gig after she was ridiculed at a restaurant cause of her race, etc)
I never knew any of that stuff about Axl, but I'm glad to hear it. It seems like so many people only want to talk about Axl's bad qualities, when like you said, everyone on earth acts like a douche at times.
he has definitely done fucked up and problematic things, but what’s important is that he has changed now. he has been young and stupid back then and in general a lot of things have influenced his behavior. starting from his traumatizing and difficult experiences from his childhood, him being a perfectionist, the pressure of being a HUGE artist (pretty much on the top of the world at that time) and this whole freaky rockstar lifestyle.. and later on he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, which i think is not really a surprise. he has been through a lot and in his young days he really didn’t know how to control his reactions and didn’t really think which led to his even violent sometimes, outbursts. however i do believe that he is one of the most misunderstood artists ever. yeah he surely has been a douche at times, but deep down he is a very sensitive and loving person. the media has always portrayed him badly, while he has done great things, which should definitely be praised or talked about the least. a great guy, who has been fucked up by life since the very beginning and made some bad decisions. i am glad he has changed, however professionally wise he has always been out of this world. proud of axl, i love him.

The main problem I have with Lars & his napster BS is his hypocrisy. In early interviews he and James used to talk about how they discovered bands from tape trading, which was the pre-internet way of getting music without paying for it. It was okay for them to do it, but not anyone else.
