Actually Bowie's should be the #1 because it is the actual farewell letter of a musician to his fans and to the world, literal hours before his actual death.
Yes,yes,yes.
True😭
And it is an amazing song from an amazing album.
Philip Alexander Hassialis I 1,000 ,000,000% agree
Make a second one with five finger death punch gone away
You forgot to mention the fact that in the Ghost of You video, the man who dies is the lead singer’s brother, which makes it even more depressing when you think about the fact that he had said that one of his biggest fears is losing the people he loves.
Salvation Salvatoré in the black parade music video, Mikey has a medal for what he did in the ghost of you vid
ALSO in Welcome To The Black Parade, Mikey is the only one with a medal (he was the only one to die in the music video.) I think he and his brother (cough Gerard the lemon) did an amazing acting job.
Crazed Fan girl holy shit same
@@bug_bites I haven't seen that music video in a long time to be honest. I haven't listened to them in a while.
stars for tears | you’ve abandoned our gods
The ghost of you and wake me up when September ends always make me cry. Mikey’s death and the male character in the videos made me rethink how temporary everything is. I also love the scientist, hurt, and lazurus. David Bowie was an icon who will never be forgotten.
Then you add Gerard yelling out 'MIKEY' and try and run to him is heartbreaking.
They didn’t die,
Freddie went to Mercury
David went to Mars
1st should be how could you leave us by Nf
Gerard went another Way

Red Hunter 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Thats truue
Are you all toddlers
The song, “Wake Me Up When September Ends”, was written about the singer’s father who tragically passed away from cancer on September 1st 1982. Billie, the singer, ran home during the funeral because he couldn’t handle it, his worried mother followed him and knocked on his locked bedroom and Billie simply yelled, “Wake me Up When September ends!” Hence the title.
1. Jeremy by Pearl Jam (based on a true story)
2. Facedown by Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
1. David Bowie - Lazarus, he said goodbye to all the fans and all the musicians that he inspired, just days before he died
Techyo ok
Facedown music video doesn’t show anything sad. It’s just the furniture being thrown everywhere while the girl sits on her phone.
@@emiliob7428 don't know what to say
I'll be more agree if All American Rejects - Move Along was included rather than Face Down 😢
I think Days Of Our Lives by Queen should be on the list. watching Freddie Mercury dying on AIDS on screen and still singing is heartbreaking
Emily Walker right?
yeahh
Or "No one but you (Only The Good Die Young)" by Queen after Freddies death
koadaline all i want should have been on the list i cant ever watch it without crying
show must go on doesn't really have an original video but it has a compilation of freddie and i think it should count
The true story behind Wake Me Up When September Ends was far sadder and painful. It was about Armstrong dealing with his father's death.
Shonny Music yea
Shonny Music yeah
Shonny Music yeah
Shonny Music wait... Setemeber?

Raidervalley Well, you could look at it as in remembering September 11th
"When September Ends" has always made me upset. My dad passed and his birthday is in September. My dog died in September when I was in high school. I feel like something else happened. idk.
Me and February.
The singer's dad also died in September. That's what the song is actually about
Also sorry for your loss
I'm so sorry
Never heard "Little Motel" before, after seeing this video I looked it up, made me cry. However her son was already dead when she took him.
DLB Dirty Little Bastard Maybe she wanted her son to be with him during his final hours before the poor child passed away due to whatever disease he had? Plus, I have been through different losses in my life. I genuinely don't know why, but said video reminded me of when the people I adore the most passed away :(
How the fuck is Lazarus not #1? It's literally about himself dying.
and then he died
Theman Oje no shit Sherlock
Clorox Bleach fuck off
helloface001 Because nobody knows and cares about that emo fuck.
Struggling Music QDW oh shut up he is dead is that what you say? he is amazing..😡😠
Bowie has to be number one as it`s not just personal pretense but based in his own reality !
Noiselab Project you could say the same about Hurt by Johnny Cash
Ben Early you could although it`s not his song
Noiselab Project agree
david bowie did die and this is his last musical track
Dante Smith A/K/A Sparda: that's just david Bowie bro
Wake me up when September ends is actually about Billie's dad because he died in September
the album was created because of the war on terror
Who is billie?

Why isn't These Are the Days of Our Lives here?
SinovenatorSam YT ikr?
I thought that "Gone", "Jesus, Take The Wheel" and "Welcome To The Black Parade" should've been on this list.
Yes that song made me cry
Or No One But You ( Only The Good Die Young)
Rogue the L.I-Princess Jesus take the wheel isn’t really sad
Freddie Mercury's last video for queen, These Are the Days of Our Lives was pretty heartbreaking. He was clearly very ill and close to death when he made it. The final line of the song was so heartfelt.
I agree. It was his last music video, and they filmed the video in black and white to help hide the fact that he was sick. And the "I still love you" at the end is so poignant because of the fact that those are the last words he ever spoke on camera.
It was like he was speaking right to you. Funny thing is that I don't even really like Queen that much but I shed a tear for poor Freddie.
I also agree. That last line made you spine chill and your eyes watery. Freddie was a strong man and sang until the day he died. These are the days of our lives deserve to be on this list.
I totally agree. makes me cry when I see the video. I wish I could go back in time to stop him from getting AIDS
Yeah... But for his songs, I still find "the show must go on" much more depressing :(
Where my David Bowie fans?
Sarah Finney Right here! Love that guy. I just danced with a girl I like at homecoming and let her know I do.
Sarah Finney I'm a Bowie fan!
Sarah Finney Meh!
Right there
here :')
For my personal senses, Modest Mouse's Little Motel is the saddest by far. Its captures a feeling of helplessness and our inability to change events, probably because of some puzzle like elements of the video. Although the Cold Play video was similar, I still think Modest Mouse's is sadder.... Probably because its about a mother and son, and I have a little son so it just hit hard for me.
My friend's dad is Modest Mouse's guitarist
little motel kills me i can't even think about watching it
Same 😢
Lazarus still makes me emotional today. I was in so much denial that he had passed. However, Lazarus was written before he was diagnosed. I think his death 2 days after the release of Black Star though made it more impactful.
I have a blue bird tattooed on my arm as a tribute to him. He was an amazing man. He was the star man that we deserved

DJ SJ Pinkie...?
Saaame!
Johnny Cash's 'Hurt' is by far the saddest song/video ever...
Nathan Larkin Yup. So goddamn sad, only sadder now that I see it with not only Johnny Cash being old and saddened, but the end of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
It's such a powerful song when sung by a man in his 20s', and I heard it near that age. Everything that happens to you is so powerful to you. But my god, to hear those lyrics behind a lifetime of struggle, of life, Cash takes it to a whole new level.
Nathan Larkin
True.
***** He most likely knows.
Try some Steven Wilson (Routine for example)
David Bowie never died. HE LIVES IN OUR HEARTS!
Runaway Train is the most powerful song ever made. It's all based on kids who were kidnapped, raped and killed or abused, all across the country. While a few were found or discovered at a friend's house, most sadly were not. And it continues to occur across the world.
They used fictional storylines but real photographs
i saw the thumbnail, and instantly clicked. lazerus is by far the saddest thing ever. BOWIE KNEW HE WAS GONNA DIE SOON! HE WAS SAYING GOODBYE.
I CRIED TGE SECOND I HEARD THE FIRST NOTE. FML
Ambruh Phycho OH MY GOD SAME Its so hard to watch it
Did you know know who David was before his death?
Avarius Rekt yeah. actor. musician. labrynth. ziggy stardust. british. best. person. ever
why?
Ambruh Phycho That was Blackstar, not Lazarus.
1} Bowie = Lazarus
2} Cash = Hurt
3} Paisley = Whiskey Lullaby
I totally agree
4} My Chemical Romance - The Ghost of You
OMG THANK YOU YOU GET IT
Whiskey lullaby is my favorite song 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Whiskey lullaby makes me cry every time.
I cried so hard when I saw Lazarus the first time, and I still tear up watching it. Seeing such a legendary artist in such a fragile and vulnerable state, knowing he was about to die, making this moving tribute and leaving the fans with something hauntingly beautiful. To know that he accepted his death and embraced it in such a way is beautiful, and I hope that one day when it's my time, I can embrace it as beautifully and honestly as David Bowie did.
"Little Motel" by Modest Mouse makes me weep.
Who else cried when they saw David Bowie, Green Day, and mcr?
I only did it from MCR and Green day
Galaxy Swirl55 honestly same but if I didn’t include the others people would’ve bitched at me
@@BEASTLYCHIP565Gaming yea. I left a comment about something and EVERYONE literally bitched at me for "excluding one detail"
@@BEASTLYCHIP565Gaming but damn are these songs deep to the fact I'll burst into tears out in public from listening to some of these, it's kinda more deep because my brother is in the army about to be sent to Iraq, so yea..
Galaxy Swirl55 damn that’s tough. And yeah I was actually crying last night because I found out my best friend killed himself and I played Ghost if You and Promise Me by Badflower repeating like 30-40 times
I always wanted MCR's The Ghost Of You to be made into a movie.
Watch Saving Private Ryan
YASSSSSS
@Tanimation watch saving Private Ryan.
Yesss we need that
Same tho. Doubt it would ever actually happen.
3:49 I thought it was about Billie Joe's dad dying in September the lyrics are more fitting in my opinion
It is, but the video was made because it reflected the War on Terror theme in the American Idiot concept album.
It is about his dad passing away the 1st of September altho they only had a single line about his father. "like my father come to pass Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends"
Wait but where is Metallica's "One"? That music video is depressing af. And Hurt should be higher.
Yeah
The vid to One is really sad
And Hurt should have been a lot higher it’s so sad
So depressing its nightmare fuel
Dude yesssss
Not as depressing as Come Undone
the saddest part of the ghost of you is that Mikey, the lead singer (Gerard)'s brother is the one who dies and you can see the pain on gerard's face when he can sense Mikey's death
Jacket guy I started crying during that. Gerard loves Mikey so much and he knows Mikey will sacrifice himself for his older brother. Gerard will do the same. This is one of the reasons why I love My Chemical Romance.

David Bowie should have been on top of this list. All you can do is make the best of what time is given you, and that he did. He turned his death into a haunting masterpiece. How brave he was to face death like that.
He is a legend that will be missed .
His death was faked by the CIA , like the rest of them. He didn't want to be a public figure anymore. The witch hunt is on now for anyone who actually had a sex life in the past 50 years , to find and prosecute all their 'crimes'. Put two and two together here, with MJ , Bowie, Robin Williams, Prince , and sundry others dropping out of sight. They saw what was coming and got out of the way fast. Elton John will be the next to head for the hills, you read it here first. Then Jagger and maybe even Paul. The witch hunt is madness, which is one big reason that I am barely as active in my research as I once was.
@@Pumpkingilmouryou are sick.how can you think these things.i grew up with David Bowie so you think cancer was what he deserved.you are one evil person.
@@anngirling8043 shut you idiot, I said nothing about his fake cancer. His death was faked, he is still alive. Probably dodging SRA accusations.
I have to agree
Pumpkingilmour how dare you say that his death was faked by the CIA you’re clearly a heartless stupid conspiracy theorist
I heard that during the filming of Ghost Of You, Gerard was actually getting very upset, because it was his real life brother Mikey who was killed in the video.

I thought David Bowie was the 12th Doctor in Doctor Who.
Fuck you
THAT WAS M E
I WAS THINKING OF THAT TOO
David Bowie was a legend but Johnny cash hit me right in the feelings.
When I heard Hurt by Johnny Cash, I remembered my aunt Ruthy because she died a few months ago. Her death caused her son, Kevin to try to kill himself. He lives with us and I was so sad that he tried to do that and hugged him causing him to almost fall over. I miss my Aunt Ruthy.
Suddenly, when I heard the intro of #5, I just felt total shivers on my whole body. I really love this song!

Zoe Trombley the song is about billie dead father. The meaning behind this song is so sad I cant listen to this song without tearing up
I cried like a baby when I saw Hurt by Johnny Cash for the first time, and I still do, each time I see it. June was dead a few weeks after the song was recorded, and he followed a few months after her. And the song is so much much him.
I played JC's rendition of "Hurt", as well as "Grey" by Lincoln Park at my husband's funeral. I feel so much emotion anytime I hear these songs, plus he loved them so much.
I cried so hard the first time I saw 'Little Motel' came out when my kid was about 2 years old and it filled me with fear and heartbreak like no video before or after has. Truly beautifully hurtful video.
Thats the power of music.

It was sort of dumb the mom took the child out of the hospital. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that mean the child will inevitably die?

@@thelatenightgamer2624 It's not a sadder video. It could have been if it was handled differently, like the color starts to be removed from the game, or it turns slightly less 'cartoonish'. It kept its goofy and brightly colored visual to the end.

Gods, Take Me to Church, Runaway Train, The Ghost of You, November Rain, Hurt, and Lazarus.😢
For few future sequel countdowns, I recommend
Gone Away by Five Finger Death Punch-It deals with death in combat, war, mental illness, and attempted suicide,
One by Metallica is a scary video but it's sad too.
Come Away Melinda by Uriah Heep.-It deals with nuclear war. You can't get sadder than that.
Where the Wild Roses Grow by Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue- It's a haunting melancholy song and video.
Home Come How Long by Stevie Wonder and Babyface-Not just because it deals with domestic violence but also how the inaction of others allows it to happen.
The World I Know by Collective Soul-While it does end on a hopeful note, the majority of the video is very bleak as the protagonist is depressed about the world around him and contemplates suicide
Children of the Night by Richard Marx-Similar to Runaway Train of showing video footage of real homeless children and runaways well as the backup vocals of the song are provided by real kids who were part of the Children of the Night organization.
Missing You by Diana Ross-Not only a moving tribute to Marvin Gaye sung by his friend, Diana Ross and written by two other friends, Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder but the video is filled with happy memories of not only Gaye but other icons of the 60's like Paul Williams of the Temptations and Florence Ballard of the Supremes. Seeing them in younger and happier days combined with Ross who can't keep it together and is in tears through the video is so moving.

Ah, I found that video randomly one day. Not the biggest fan of the song. (it is a good song thou). The video made me cry for a solid 10 minutes thou. Its such an upsetting video.
Literally about to type that
Shocked Eminem didn't make this list. Stan? Mockingbird? I mean come on! SMH
Also Radiohead Street Spirits(Fade out)
street spirit isn't sad at all, also, saddest eminem video would be either stan, when I'm gone or like toy soldiers.
If I'm not mistaken, Street Spirits by Radiohead is a song about transitioning into death, Stan by Eminem, is about an obsessed fan who's enveloped by his own insanity with a dark past that essentially kills his own wife while committing suicide in the process, leaving his son behind to be raised without his parents. And as far as Mockingbird goes, if you know anything about Eminem's story relating to his daughter, it's quite intense. Not sure how someone could not find these songs/videos dark in any way?
Im surprised you to like rap. I expected you you to be in heavy rock.
Wholesale Bear
I like it all man
Jesus Christ I did mentioned Stan but Stan's a more like a fucked up video more than sad (also it wasn't his son but his little brother, he did have a mother who apparently hated Stan) Street Spirit's video isn't sad at all, we're talking about videos, not songs, Mockingbird is a sad song but the video doesn't stand up that much, just shows a lonely Eminem reminiscing, When I'm Gone goes deeper than that, it shows how the relationship with his daughter struggles when it comes to her and work (if you think mockingbird is sadder my guess is you haven't watched When I'm gone) and Like toy soldiers finally put a stop to the war among rappers by focusing on how a rappers were now like soldiers fighting and living in fear just for rivalry.
Does somebody remember the title of a song who came out 2014-2019. In the video we see a young man die drowning, burning in a car and buried while being watched by an older man(father?) who does nothing to save him. Thanks.
The Scientists by Coldplay still one of the best sad song of all time.
It's still got me every time when I hear that song
