- Between 1975 and 1979, with one interruption while he unsuccessfully ran for the 1976 Republican presidential nomination, Ronald Reagan offered his thoughts on current events, 3 minutes at a time to a radio audience of 30 million.
Relaying a story from the campus of Penn State, Reagan shares a letter detailing a confrontation between a Socialism woman and a small-government man.

@Entitled Millennial Capitalism has not solved those issues, but it's taken them closer to being solved than any other system. I'm open to hear a suggestion for another system that has done better in that regard.

It is my pleasure. I have more in my collection I should put up (I've been focusing on those that seem the most relevant to our times), but I have no where near a complete collection.
Here in the United States, we need more people like him who can stand up to such destructive ideologies.

It's curious that different countries have different understandings of socialism - one person's socialist is another person's right-winger democrat, and those things that are truly socialist are happily accepted by a republican. The best democracies in the world, on the other hand, are very used to such things as universal healthcare and adequate social security. It's all a matter of cultural perspective.
I would agree.
Personally, I try (even if I'm not always successful) to frame the political differences in the way Reagan did in "A Time For Choosing". Its not left or right, its up and down... individual liberty or totalitarian rule.

According to the books on the Radio show, the production date was November 16, 1976, and repeated (and re-recorded) about a year later.

I was too young to really grasp the story of the presidential election of 1980... but from what I learned after...the (what we now call the legacy media) just had the narrative that reagan was just a 'b' level movie actor. Things like this audio clip were probably kept away from the voting public at all costs lest that " b-movie actor" narrative loose all potency.
I, also, would have been too young, but I've heard and read about what was done to him. Many in the media and politics considered him stupid, even during and after the time he was writing and performing these radio broadcasts.
The unfortunate thing today is that these clips are not being kept from us by the media (legacy or otherwise). In an attempt to protect the Reagan legacy (I believe), the Reagan Foundation, which controls the copyright on all his non-Presidential works, generally does not allow dissemination of this material. Believe me, I tried to get more of the broadcasts. They are available for purchase through the Hoover Institution, but they limit what you can buy to a small percentage of the complete collection. I had plans to buy it all. I might have one of the largest collections of the broadcasts because they honored my last purchase, which exceeded the percentage. I have roughly 33% of the 1000+ broadcasts.
I understand why they want to protect his legacy, but at the same time, they hold one of the largest collections of modern conservative thought and I believe that it would be of great benefit to the country if they were shared.

Well mr Reagan I like women, why can't I have two or three wives? And why can't I own slaves? I just don't like big Govt telling me how many people I can have legally tied to me.
And damint I like to shit when and where I want and no Govt shall tell me how to use my bowls
