Focusing just on the trailer style: we've entered the latest dark age, when those artless automatons who create trailers now show cuts in the first few seconds ("hook") that again show up later in the SAME 3-minute trailer. This is how stupid they think we are.
@LuckyC5150 what are you talking about? EVERY movie trailer does this. His comment was a critique of modern style of movie trailer for the greater part of the last decade. Why so triggered about there being a movie about an important individual from history? Tell me you're a partisan hack without telling me you're a partisan hack.
@@Tyler_W To be specific, having a hook clip at the beginning that lasts a few seconds, to summarize everything you'll see in the same short trailer already summarizing everything, so that you see a scene twice within seconds, is brand new and hardly in common practice (yet).
oh my god, I can't believe the movie trailer companies keep doing the "slow version of a famous song" thing for so many movie trailers these days, its worse than the trailers that used to do the "waaaaaaaaa" sound.
I hope they throw in some of his pro-Truman years. I'd love seeing some scenes of Reagan as a democrat activist. I think both sides of the aisle would get a kick out of that. I also hope they throw in his famous line "I didn't leave my party. My party left me."
And if you think I’m wrong back it with facts, cause how did groceries go from $114 a full cart to the same order being $450 now…. They are pushing stuff that shouldn’t be to make it hard for an average American to get a job. I shouldn’t have to put 2 or more races when I’m applying now and also don’t give a gender like YALL got this ass backwards so much. That’s literally why we all are struggling 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Reagan is a curious subject for a film considering how he stood up for the filmmakers rights against the greedy big studios. A fight that flares up again and again as income streams morph in the film industry.
He famously became SUPER anti-union, in case you missed it. It was his reason for living...well, whoring himself for donors, but that is 99% of politicians, and he didn't invent that.
Ok. I wonder if you prefer Reagan, who ran the most corrupt administration of the 20th century or Trump the most corrupt president of all time, and how you would justify voting for either
Just saw this yesterday .... Great movie! This trailer doesn't do it justice!!! Dennis Quad deserves an academy award for his acting is this!!! Sooo inspiring! Great Feel good movie!
We went to see this movie, and I can honestly say this is one time when the movie was exceptionally better than the trailer. We were not Republicans in the 80s, but the movie flushed out how hard he fought his entire life to save America from communism which was much closer to happening than we all thought at the time. Regardless of your political affiliation today, this is a must see movie. Dennis Quaid deserves an Oscar for his performance of Reagan, which the movie spanned his entire life.
As a presidential historian, I'm always giddy with frenetic excitement whenever I see a presidential biopic, especially with good actors. John Adams was good. The Kennedys 8-part mini-series with Greg Kinnear was good. Frost-Nixon was good. Lincoln was good.
What did you think about Vice? The one about Dick Cheney starring Christian Bale? I haven't seen it yet, but I've been thinking about it. I'm also interested because I don't know much about Dick Cheney myself, but I don't know if the movie is any good in that regard.
@@clh3239 I have criticisms of his administration too, but if you think he was a nightmare, I'd hate to see your idea of a good administration. Anybody who would deny that he did or was responsible for a lot of things that were really good for this country at the time haw no idea what they're talking about. Whatevsr his faults, the fact he played an important role in the final defeat of the Soviet Union alone makes him worthy of some level of respect and admiration.
The Reagan administration was the first to fund aids research . Actually , aids is the most preventable disease there is , don't do the perverted act of homosexuality , and they won't get the disease .
If you think Reagan ignored the AIDS crisis, he was the first and last president to mention it even though it still exists. About 40 million people in the world had AIDS in 2023. That is about half the number that has been recorded of having AIDS.
It's Dennis Quaid. Besides, Ronald Reagan is still the modern gold standard for a President. It was Kennedy when I was growing up, and Roosevelt in my father's youth. I suppose for my grandfather, it was the other Roosevelt.
@@clh3239 Oh, that is hilarious! "Perhaps you weren't alive". Ha! Take that, you whippersnapper! I remember where I was when was shot! Were you even begotten then? He is the gold standard. He Won The (Cold) War! I remember Barack Obama praising him unreservedly.
My grandfather was born the same year as Mr. Reagan. My dad died when I was young, and my grandfather, who grew up in an an orphanage told me "I am now your father." This intimacy molded me. While Mr. Reagan was more eloquent, my grandfather taught me the same lessons. "We are the shining city on the hill." "Mark Twain said Kindness is the language the blind can see, and the deaf can hear." They both died about a year apart. Now it is up to me to carry on. The positivity. The humor. The comfort. The embrace. I'm just not good enough now, but I'll keep trying. Tomorrow will be better!
They made a crappy Showtime film with Brolin and Judy Davis where they basically sum up him winning the Cold War in a single "you won the Cold War" line and then try to imply he wanted gay folks to die of AIDS...LOL - I don't care what political party you like (I hate them both) but it's a flippant hatchet job of a piece of shit film. Which happens when a bunch of people who hate your guts make a film about you,
They did. It's called "Idiocracy". The descent of the US into pathological stupidity was made possible by letting a talentless B-movie actor with the IQ of a turnip become POTUS.
Yeah, I wonder why they haven't made a biopic, the genre that only exists as oscar bait, of the conservative folk hero/blowhard? The famously fair judges are sure to set aside their liberal bias.
I suppose you’d have to be on some strong narcotics or other hallucinogens to actually see Reagan. Quaid did a darn good job portraying Reagan in my humble opinion. The movie was well done and enjoyable.
@@sar4x474 being immersed in the plot is essential for a good movie. If you can’t then what’s the point? There have been a lot of bio pics where you can (mostly) suspend reality and get caught up in the portrayal. This doesn’t look like that to me. Especially since, even in the trailer, Quaid goes in and out of the Reagan accent. That’s not going to help the immersion experience. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I won’t be wasting my money on it. Maybe I’ll watch when it hits streaming but I doubt it. People are allowed differing opinions. If we all thought the same, what a boring world this would be.
@@3345646 I said in my comment I haven’t seen it and probably won’t. Haven’t you ever seen a trailer and think nope, not for me? If so, then you can understand my comment. I’m not huge into biopics anyhow, a lot of them are terribly fabricated. If it looks good, if the portrayal looks decent I’d consider checking it out. If the portrayal doesn’t impress me then I don’t bother. I wasn’t intending to see this before the trailer came out. Seeing Quaid’s portrayal in the trailer didn’t impress me, especially since they didn’t do anything to help the appearance any. He looks like Quaid with his hair darkened. And he slips in and out of the Reagan accent (my son saw that too). Phil Hartman did a more believable Reagan than Quaid is doing here in the trailer and that was only for comedy. In my opinion of course, your mileage may vary. Why do you guys care if I watch it or not? What’s the big deal? People are allowed differing opinions. This is mine. Won’t be watching.
@@3345646 I did say I haven’t seen it. Haven’t you ever watched a movie trailer and decided it wasn’t for you? Of course. Yet I’m not allowed to do the same? I’m not keen on biopics on a whole as they’re mostly inaccurate. If the portrayal is decent, I might watch it. Otherwise I’m not interested. Especially in the case where I can’t get immersed in the story if the person doesn’t really look the part. All they did was dye Quaid’s hair and style it differently. I don’t see Reagan. I see Quaid. And it doesn’t help that Quaid can’t keep the accent up during the trailer, he slips in and out of character. Phil Hartman did a more believable Reagan and his was done for comedy. I wasn’t exactly interested in seeing the movie before the trailer was released. Seeing it only reinforced my opinion. Not interested. Now, how many more want to come after me to tell me how wrong I am? 🙄

The Cold War and Reagan... I had the honor of having started my military service during the Reagan years and I remember...! I remember the Soviet submarines right off Long Island with their nuke missiles pointed at us, and us having to go out there and chase them off!! I remember the Bear Soviet bombers doing "bombing runs" in the Atlantic, etc… but more on that later. First let go back a little, let go back to the 1970’s. People need to be reminded that Reagan came to power due to the complete disillusion the American people had in ourselves at the end of the 1970’s, due in part to the loss in Viet Nam, the country generally in a decline mode, and more below; just watch the Movie “Miracle” with Kirk Russell to be reminder a bit on how bad things were here in the US… For starters, Carter and the high gas/oil crisis… …then, the economy in recession/pieces… ...in addition to a “Hollow military”, a military with very low moral, equipped poorly with aging tanks and aircraft, cut down too small for the dangers of the times and future dangers we were facing at that time, which coincidentally is the same thing we did again at the end of the 1990’s…: Then, the USSR on the “march” from Afghanistan (an Afghan government coup, then a Soviet invasion)… … to Africa, were the increasing influence/interventions of the Soviets were even noted in the TV world about that Soviet/communist Cuba involvement in Africa…: …Communist Soviet and Communist Cuban troops and armament intervention in Ogaden war 1976-1978 (Somalia-Ethiopia), were on top of the soviet T-34 tanks and soviet Mig fighter planes supplied to the communist forces, 150,000 Cuban troops also INTERVINED and fought on the communist side..
…And the interventions/take-over of countries in Latin America like Nicaragua and later their attempt at taking over Colombia and El Salvador with the help (again) of Communist dictator Castro of Cuba, which mandates “Proletarian Internationalism”, as expressed in the Cuban Constitution, even though in 1975, for example, the United States voted in the Organization of American States to lift sanctions imposed on Cuba in the early 1960s, proving that even being “nice” and “engaging” to them does not work! We even have ADMISSIONS by some of the major communist players, even terrorist players allied to the Soviets that they were in there making the take over happen, examples: June 19, 1981---German Social Democratic leader Hans- Jurgen Wischnewski states at a press conference in Bonn that Fidel Castro had admitted to him that Cuba had shipped weapons to the Salvadoran guerrillas. March 18, 1982--The New York Times reports that the Salvadoran guerrillas now concede that Cuba supplied arms for the January 1981 "final offensive" through Nicaragua. September, 28, 1981 and October 29, 1981--Cuban vice president, Carlos Rafael Rodriguez, confirms in interviews given to Der Spiegel and to El Diario of Caracas that Salvadoran guerrillas are trained in Cuba. March 11, 1981--Sandinista defense minister, Humberto Ortega, in a speech in Hanoi gives thanks for the support given by the Vietnamese. September 24, 1981-- William Shawcross says in New York Review of Books that Col. Bui Tin had acknowledged to him during a visit to Vietnam that American weapons left in Vietnam had been sent to El Salvador, saying, "We do our best to support revolutionary movements in the world." January. 11, 1982--PLO chief Yasser Arafat confirms to a group of journalists in Beirut that "there are Palestinian pilots in Nicaragua, there are Palestinian revolutionaries with the revolutionaries in El Salvador." None of these reports were mentioned in the 90-minute CBS documentary. And then, on top of all that, the American hostages fiasco in Iran in 1979, in which Carter looked incompetent, and the US looked weakly once again… Generally, the Cold War was in full swing and we were loosing! Then Reagan came into the scene, and with his convictions and general idea of no retreat, but to push forward, to rebuild the military, and Reagan belief in victory through strength, the Cold War started to turn into our favor and ultimately won…
Reagan military build up paid off decisively even later on, during the 1991 Gulf War, a victory mostly based on his weapons buildup, even News organizations like the Washington Post recognized it. All those F-117s, M-1 tanks and other amazing weapons we used to win that war were bought by the Reagan build up! But the main effect of this buildup was to bring the economy of the then USSR down, by having them have to spent money in their military in a futile attempt to keep up, an attempt they could never have been able to keep up since their economy was a mess, due to their centralized, unopened communist system economy. Reagan also brought the United States out of that self-pity of the late 70’s and into believing in ourselves again, with his vision of seen America as a "shining city on a hill", he also got the economy moving again, and the country moving towards the better, this point made clear by his re-election in the landslide of 1984, were the majority of American answered with a resounding "yes"! with his question of "Are you better off today than you were 4 years ago", a fact no one can deny! One of the best presidents this nation ever had.... see many fools here who did not live the 80's and/or had no clue about the Cold War. Read in the comments below:
The Cold War and Reagan...
I had the honor of having started my military service during the Reagan years and I remember...!
I remember the Soviet submarines right off Long Island with their nuke missiles pointed at us, and us having to go out there and chase them off!!
I remember the Bear Soviet bombers doing "bombing runs" in the Atlantic, etc… but more on that later.
First let go back a little, let go back to the 1970’s. People need to be reminded that Reagan came to power due to the complete disillusion the American people had in ourselves at the end of the 1970’s, due in part to the loss in Viet Nam, the country generally in a decline mode, and more below; just watch the Movie “Miracle” with Kirk Russell to be reminder a bit on how bad things were here in the US…
For starters, Carter and the high gas/oil crisis…
…then, the economy in recession/pieces…
...in addition to a “Hollow military”, a military with very low moral, equipped poorly with aging tanks and aircraft, cut down too small for the dangers of the times and future dangers we were facing at that time, which coincidentally is the same thing we did again at the end of the 1990’s…:
Then, the USSR on the “march” from Afghanistan (an Afghan government coup, then a Soviet invasion)…
… to Africa, were the increasing influence/interventions of the Soviets were even noted in the TV world about that Soviet/communist Cuba involvement in Africa…:
…Communist Soviet and Communist Cuban troops and armament intervention in Ogaden war 1976-1978 (Somalia-Ethiopia), were on top of the soviet T-34 tanks and soviet Mig fighter planes supplied to the communist forces, 150,000 Cuban troops also INTERVINED and fought on the communist side..
We even have ADMISSIONS by some of the major communist players, even terrorist players allied to the Soviets that they were in there making the take over happen, examples:
June 19, 1981---German Social Democratic leader Hans- Jurgen Wischnewski states at a press conference in Bonn that Fidel Castro had admitted to him that Cuba had shipped weapons to the Salvadoran guerrillas.
Bui Tin had acknowledged to him during a visit to Vietnam that American weapons left in Vietnam had been sent to El Salvador, saying, "We do our best to support revolutionary movements in the world."
January.
And then, on top of all that, the American hostages fiasco in Iran in 1979, in which Carter looked incompetent, and the US looked weakly once again…
Generally, the Cold War was in full swing and we were loosing!
He called them for what they were “An Evil Empire”, and also set in motion internal forces inside the Soviet/Eastern block for change and the destruction of the USSR and its satellites nations system, forces like "Solidarność"…
His alliance with Britain Margaret Thatcher,.which was a strong allied against world communism, together with Reagan and the Pope, John Paul, who also put pressure in the Eastern Europe satellite countries with his message of free worship and freedom from oppression.
Reagan and Thatcher: 'Political soulmates' (CNN)
The Pope even endangered himself after joining this fight to the extend that his life was threatened by the KGB, who we now know tried to have him killed, a KGB plan acknowledged by Mikhail Gorbachev in an interview to the Italian magazine Il Tempo.
All of this made a solid front against the Soviets, a front the Soviets had not gone against before, and that, coupled with some bad political moves by the Soviets and their puppet regimes, such as the one in East Germany near the end of allowing free move/travel across the "Wall" ultimately would bring their system down in 1989.
Reagan turned around the Cold War in our favor, and with the help of key allies in the world, both outside the Soviet block and inside the Soviet block won the Cold War, a war we were loosing until 1980!
One of the worst Presidents of modern history:
- Iran-Contra
- Escalated the War on Drugs while funding the flooding crack cocaine to our streets
- Opposed Civil Rights, called Africans "monkeys"
- Prison for Profits
- Reaganomics aka Voodoo Economics: Cutting taxes = more tax revenue! Cut taxes and increase spending - what can go wrong?
- Rising Budget Deficits
- "Trees cause more pollution than automobiles do!" A puppet for the oil lobby and deregulated clean water/air policies
- War on Education which is why those who lived in the 80s remain ignorant to this day
He was a con-man who lost all personal convictions after he married Nancy and sold out for the dollar. How you can call him the best president despite his role and attempts to cover-up and straight up lie about Iran Contra to the American people is just beyond me. Hell, you can thank Reagan for the formation of Al-Qaeda!
The 1% at the top thank you for still defending trickle-down economics with such aplomb!
You leftists are the most ignorant people I have ever run into in my entire life, here is a lesson for you:
The Cold War and Reagan...
I had the honor of having started my military service during the Reagan years and I remember...!
I remember the Soviet submarines right off Long Island with their nuke missiles pointed at us, and us having to go out there and chase them off!! I remember the Bear Soviet bombers doing "bombing runs" in the Atlantic, etc… but more on that later.
First let’s go back a little, let’s go back to the 1970’s. People need to be reminded that Reagan came to power due to the complete disillusion the American people had in ourselves at the end of the 1970’s, due in part to the loss in Viet Nam, the country generally in a decline mode, and more below; just watch the Movie “Miracle” with Kirk Russell to be reminded a bit on how bad things were here in the US…
ua-cam.com/video/GjctJFuKy3Y/v-deo.html
For starters, Carter and the gas/oil crisis…
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1979_energy_crisis
…Communist Soviet and Communist Cuban troops and armament intervention in Ogaden war 1976-1978 (Somalia-Ethiopia), were on top of the soviet T-34 tanks and soviet Mig fighter planes supplied to the communist forces, 150,000 Cuban troops also INTERVINED and fought on the communist side:
www.onwar.com/aced/chrono/index1970.htm
…And the interventions/take-over of countries in Latin America like Nicaragua and later their attempt at taking over Colombia and El Salvador with the help (again) of Communist dictator Castro of Cuba, which mandates “Proletarian Internationalism”, as expressed in the Cuban Constitution, even though in 1975, for example, the United States voted in the Organization of American States to lift sanctions imposed on Cuba in the early 1960s, proving that even being “nice” and “engaging” to them does not work!
Bui Tin had acknowledged to him during a visit to Vietnam that American weapons left in Vietnam had been sent to El Salvador, saying, "We do our best to support revolutionary movements in the world."
January.
And then, on top of all that, the American hostages fiasco in Iran in 1979, in which Carter looked incompetent, and the US looked weak once again…
Generally, the Cold War was in full swing and we were losing!
Then Reagan came into the scene, and with his convictions and general idea of no retreat, but to push forward, to rebuild the military, and Reagan’s belief in victory through strength, the Cold War started to turn into our favor and ultimately won, more on it:
www.u-s-history.com/pages/h1957.html
Reagan military build up paid off decisively even later on, during the 1991 Gulf War, a victory mostly based on his weapons buildup, even News organizations like the Washington Post recognized it. All those F-117s, M-1 tanks and other amazing weapons we used to win that war were bought by the Reagan build up!
But the main effect of this buildup was to bring the economy of the then USSR down, by having them have to spend money in their military in a futile attempt to keep up, an attempt they could never have been able to keep up since their economy was a mess, due to their centralized, unopened communist system economy. He called them for what they were “An Evil Empire”, and also set in motion internal forces inside the Soviet/Eastern block for change and the destruction of the USSR and its satellites nations system, forces like "Solidarność"…
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solidarity
His alliance with Britain Margaret Thatcher,.which was a strong allied against world communism, together with Reagan and the Pope, John Paul, who also put pressure in the Eastern Europe satellite countries with his message of free worship and freedom from oppression.
Reagan and Thatcher: 'Political soulmates' (CNN)
www.cnn.com/2013/04/08/politics/thatcher-reagan/
The Pope even endangered himself after joining this fight to the extend that his life was threatened by the KGB, who we now know tried to have him killed, a KGB plan acknowledged by Mikhail Gorbachev in an interview to the Italian magazine Il Tempo.
All of this made a solid front against the Soviets, a front the Soviets had not gone against before, and that, coupled with some bad political moves by the Soviets and their puppet regimes, such as the one in East Germany near the end of allowing free move/travel across the "Wall" ultimately would bring their system down in 1989.
Reagan also brought the United States out of that self-pity of the late 70’s and into believing in ourselves again, with his vision of seeing America as a "shining city on a hill", he also got the economy moving again, and the country moving towards the better, this point made clear by his re-election in the landslide of 1984, when the majority of American answered with a resounding "yes"! with his question of "Are you better off today than you were 4 years ago", a fact no one can deny!
Reagan turned around the Cold War in our favor, and with the help of key allies in the world, both outside the Soviet block and inside the Soviet block won the Cold War, a war we were losing until 1980!
Finally, here is Reagan in his own words:

It is sad to see such a waste of an American, and so much ignorance...

@@mcbraniff wrong kid, and the 1984 (landslide) elections demonstrate what America thought about the good president... never mind the collapse of the USSR at the end of his presidency.... end of the lesson.
Whoooa! That actor they have playing Jimmy Carter really looked like him!
It's fantastic!!!
The song tells me everything I need to know about what the filmmakers think of Reagan and angle this film will take
based
If you think this movie is going to be some sort of liberal hatchet job, when you've got Jon Voight, Robert Davi, Nick Searcy and Kevin Sorbo in it, well then you're just a silly goose.
Didn't see him riding a velociraptor into the White House, guess marketing teams are getting better at not spoiling movies nowadays.
Loved Spitting Image’s video for Genesis Land of Confusion.😂
Gen X and I can’t wait!!! This is going to be good
Awesome!
If you're Conservatives, YOU MUST SEE REGAN AND THE FORGE.
Everyone has to watch the movie before the elections, not only the conservatives.
Everything wrong with America can be traced back to Reagan
IM SO HIGH THAT I THOUGHT THIS WAS REAL..LOL
It is real😂
@@gimmethepinkelephant3685 What...No way I'm so going to watch it when it comes out lol

Dennis Quaid was saying that in his interview perfect timing
I love Ronnie and I love Dennis Quaid. God bless you Dennis ✝️
Great movie told from the Soviet side. Ronald Reagan and I Graduated from the same college, in Illinois, Eureka College. He is the reason that I became a Conservative and is the reason that I became a Republican. Reagan was a man that met what he said and he demanded those that worked for him to do the same.
Such a good movie!
The evil tyrant Reagan gets his own Horror movie!?!?! The man who brought us Reaganomics...the horrific HIV Aids response? The Paul Weydrich Christian Nationalists? The Lee Atwater's and Roger Stone's? No thanks. No way I'm watching this movie which should d be called "Reagan= God of Traitors"
He created the tuition crisis that we have today because he and his admin were afraid of an educated proletariat
Co-starring Scott Stapp as Frank Sinatra. 🤣
2024 and we still waiting for that wealth to trickle down 💀

Post production cost pushed this project a number of times. Grateful to see they are finally able to get a solid release. Awesome Director, Cast and Crew.
This movie is such low budget crap they couldn’t have even afforded a crappy B actor like Ronald Reagan.
Jon Voight?! The STAR of Baby Geniuses 2: Super Babies?! SIGN ME UP.
And the lead singer of Creed is starring as Frank Sinatra apparently 🤦🤦🤦
