- Three ways to play major scales on any flute and give a completely different feel to your music.
This video uses a A minor flute (but you can use these techniques with any key of flute).

Clint you're a genius. There is no limit to my gratitude to you, dear!
Cllint, that was a very interesting pedagogical tack that you took that I didn't expect you to take. At the beginning of this video, I expected you to play the three basic major scales all on the same flute - but in different keys. Instead, you did just the opposite - same key scale, but different key flutes!
That was a very clear explanation of a somewhat confusing topic. Thx!
Clint, this is a wonderful explanation of playing major scales on Native American flutes. It has changed not only how I play them, but how I will be explaining them to my flute stidents in future workshops. Thanks.
Thanks Frank!! Happy Fluting!
When you've got it; flute it!
Thanks. I haven't bought my first flute yet, but it is nice to know they are more versatile than just playing in a minor key.
THANKS for the information
Love your videos man thanks a lot for your contributions
Great topic! Thanks.
Thanks Clint. I had already found out a lot of this but still learnt extra from it. I certainly resonated with your view that the Native Flute is more for playing from the heart - I find that much easier and more satisfying than trying to play tunes composed by others. Sometimes I have been asked the name of the melody I have just played and I tell them the name of the circle that I am playing in as it is that energy that has guided the tune.
Welcome back have not seen you for a while. Keep Safe.
Thanks! We've been posting a video every month ... this video actually makes our hundredth!
Wow, I have just started using the NAF and the one I have is very sensitive to the bottom note. Some times I start and finish with the bottom hole open. Just like you say. I did not know wihat I was doing, but it helped me not mess up on the bottom note. Great work Clint.
I have an A minor flute and I know that the relative diatonic scale for the A minor flute is C major diatonic scale. So what scale do i need to play for the cromatic? The A minor or a C major cromatic scale?
Yeah, but there's nothing quite like bringing out the old melancholy blues than playing in a minor key.
🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻❤️
Looks like I just made a mistake by buying a five hole flute instead of a six hole. It seems you need a six hole to play a major scale??
Great information, but quite honestly, you lost me when you went to the last two flutes.
