@@ClintGoss What about disinfecting the flute? I read somewhere that you can get a lung fungus infection or something like that. Do you know anything about it? I'm afraid to play my flute since I read that. Thanks.
Hi Clint, Thank you for the video. Very helpful and informative. Could you tell me where you got the hard flute cases please? I’ve searched loads for a hard case. I can find the socks but the cases I find seen to be for the concert style metal flutes. Hope you can help. Thanks. X
7:22 - I use the upside whipping motion to clear the condensation. But by no means do I strike it against a solid object. Of course that would damage the flute. When I use the whipping technique, I forcefully whip it through the air - making sure not to hit anything along the way.
Clint, lots of great info on here, but you failed to mention my main concern and why I stopped playing. I learned that you can get a serious respiratory disease from mold (and other organisms) that may come from a flute. Once I heard that, I stopped completely. I'd like to play again, but haven't found any info that addresses this issue and how to ensure that it doesn't happen, and how to properly clean and disinfect the interior. Have you heard of this, and any advice? Thank you.
The video is really great... sorry my english is not good but the music dont have a lenguaje... i from Peru and i love playing the guitar an now i try playing native flute American! thanks
It really does come down to what sounds the best. You might try making some basic recordings and listening back in a day or two (take notes on where the bird was positioned for each). You could also get a mic-and-headphone setup to help with listening to the sound of the flute. Above all - don't sweat it - most flutes have a fairly wide "sweet spot" for bird position ...
Thank you for responding Clint. Yes maybe a Northern Ca collectors item...Your videos are great and I'm stepping into that flute and your videos...Cheers and Thanks
@@ClintGoss , hmm. I think we just defined the difference between a Craftsman and a Musician. I am a builder of all kinds of things, but I only shop in shoe stores that will sell me two left shoes.
Hi Michael. I make my own from a length of pvc storm water pipe. I use either end caps or an end cap and a scew on cap. See your local plumbing supplies. Chhers Peter
Excellent information especially the dynamics of air flow. Thanks.
Thanks Connie!

I've gotten a number of cases from the Oregon Flute Store ... lots of options and can even do custom cases ...
@@ClintGoss Thanks Clint. Unfortunately I’m in the UK so Oregon is a bit far to go. 😉😂 x
Great Videos. So clearly explained. Thank you!!

Any more specific tips on placing your bird in the "right" spot? I don't know how to hear the right spot...

Is a "scootch" considered to be 1/32"?
More or less. OK, sorry for the flip comment, but I have not been so precise with measuring these things - it's more of an ear thing to me ...
