Hey humbug, I love the video. But I was just wondering if I could use 30lb braid on my medium power ugly stik carbon. The rod itself recommends 6-12lb line but I was wondering if I could use heavier line then the rods recommendation or not.
Just picked up a Daiwa Tatula XT after I broke my Falcon Buccoo rod. The Daiwa feels WAY better to me than the Falcon. At $99.99, the Daiwa is a steal!
Toadfish rods are also great for under 200 bucks. My 7/6 MH with daiwa fuego 2500 is my everyday goto rod in my lineup vs my more expensive options. About 250 for an awesome setup that will catch anything inshore.
@ best setup around 200 bucks imo is a toadfish 7foot6in or 7/2 medium heavy. Pair that with a diawa fuego 2500 with 15 lb braid. Put about a foot to 2 feet of 20lb mono or floro and a 1/0-3/0 circle hook with 2 or 3 split shot #3s at the connection of the braid to mono and you can catch anything you want inshore. Up to 30+ inch reds. No problem.
I want to get the okuma salo, but I don’t know anything about rod numbers and letters, I’m obviously getting a casting rod for the okuma salo, and I already have a KastKing Spartacus II Baitcasting Fishing Reel, but I’m not sure what rod to get and what fishing line is best.

At 65 years young ugly stick I have like 5 of them my high ends got the tips broken u decide Other high ends pretty much stay cased Like and late 70 s tournament bass pro cali made lews still in the plastic
Ugly stiks are great. For live bait. And you can get away with em if you fish braid but they have no sensitivity. And don’t have a nice feeling to them. At all

fish eagle rods have been around a long time, they used to be cabelas fish eagle 54 before bass pro bought them out. American made. i have 2 from when cabelas was cabelas and they are by far my favorite. most sensitive rod ive ever owned, more sensitive than the fenwick by a land slide. they are now cheaper than the fenwick at $80, don’t be a dickrider and try different things old timer.

I don’t really know what rod to get. I like fishing for bass, pike, and catfish and just a variety of different species. I was thinking about an ugly stik GX2 since I don’t have a high budget and people say it’s durable. But I don’t know, what do you think is a great all around rod for under $100 for multiple species?
My 2014 Shimano Crucial (7’2” medium fast iirc) is good for some of the bass fishing I do, but it’s a little too stiff for finesse/ultra light that I want to get into, as well as for all the pan fish and perch too. I’m looking for a lighter duty rod to use in its place sometimes. I picked up a $25 Shakespeare rod and reel combo while fishing out of town and that whippy little thing puts in work. My question is this: are these sub $100 rods too cheap to run my Shimano Stradic 2500 or would that be hold back the reel’s performance?
I just bought one of the cheapest rods I’ve owned and it feels good so far. Brand New. Shimano Convergence 7 ft Med Heavy, Fast Action. For 30 years I’ve used the Falcon FC5-5 MH Fast and I love this rod. The Shimano feels similar for $69, and cheaper with discounts. A similar Falcon is to mine is the Marsh and is $229. I’ll let you know later how this rod performs. Anyone with comments on it?
I got the 13 omen medium power fast Action rod it is nice better than the Fate medium power fast Action rod but is good also. My Walmart has nothing good but ugly stick but I got my ugly cat rod with a ABU Garcia black max reel is my favorite for spinner fishing. All the stealing stuff messed it up. So to the next city to get stuff.

The only thing an ugly stick has going for it is it's practically indestructible. That's why it is good for catfish, carp and salt water inshore fishing.
These rods are all great for the money. Really inspect closely when buying. Learn how to replace tip tops and guides.. as the guide frames break easy and often. Buy quality replacement guides and you’ll never have to replace or fix again.

It may be BPS knockoff ? I have no idea why it would cost more than the Finwick EAGLE. Some people glorify Bass Pro stuff like it's not made in China.

No you’d be fine, I run a stradic on the omen black which has quite a difference. The fish don’t care!
