The only reason I don't like that idea is because it just becomes, "modernized archetype vs modernized archetype" and it loses the feel of being a character duel. I've never been able to enjoy any of the "character but with updated deck" duel videos uploaded by others because of that.
This was such a fun video, and the idea behind it was great! That Yuma vs Yugi was crazy!! Yusaku just steamrolled the competition, there was no stopping the maker of plays 😂
Omg the straightforward wins are hilarious to watch, Yusaku straight-up slaughtered everyone and rip Yusei for that play. Although, that play with Yugi was pretty crazy with gandorra I'd love to see more of this with rivals, girls, or best friends, great video man!! :)
Yusaku probably has the closest to a "meta" deck of protagonist lmfao. Though I think people underestimate Yuma for not only his skill but how disgustingly broken number cards are because of that little effect on the top saying "Can only be destroyed by a card with "number" in it's name" in thr anime lore. I really want to see more of these though. heroines and rivals are obvious but Best friend's and final villains would be fire as well. Era duels sound fun but I would also like to see then with modernized decks. Like Jounouchi with more modern Red-eyes stuff and Judai with the insane E.HERO's and support that came after his era.
This tournament pretty succinctly shows off the concept of power creep lol. Yusaku's accesscode otk vs Yami Yugi from an anime where summoning a 3k vanilla monster before turn 5 was the peak of skill
The moment I saw the bracket I immediately knew how the tourney was going to go, and I'm glad to see that my prediction was correct! Just goes to show that Speed Duels are fast paced and the current state of YuGiOh is too much for older decks to handle! 🤣🤣🤣I would love to see the same thing again but with modern support for all the decks not just cards they played in the anime, or maybe just some manga card additions.
The early anime decks are just bad, even for their time The newer the show, the more closely do the decks represent their current metas, for example yuma making a rank 4 and setting 2 is similar to dino rabbit making laggia/dolkka and setting 2, yusei summoning speed warrior isn't even close to being similar to teledad, jaden summoning clayman isn't similar to dad return, you get the point
This tournament did showcase that the decks in later animes got powercreeped by a lot. Could be fun to see one for rivals, best friends and female protagonists aswell. If you do a girl tournament you probably have to replace Téa with Mai and Tori with Rio.
Not really Atem didn’t seem to have any of his broken anime cards. On edo pro it’s easy to summon Beyond first turn or Atem to summon a god etc. The decks weren’t build correctly.
We need to see this for other tropes (Main Rival, Main Girl, Main Antagonist, Best Friend etc). Love seeing Dylan so hyped - also I can see Dylan being a good sport commentator lol. As if he didnt do this one of the other boys to play off each other. Also as much as I loved Yuto, I think Astral or Ai should’ve been the 8th duellist as they were partners with their series protagonist from the beginning.
Yuma's part in this tournament felt 100% like Zexal. They go up against Yugi, who holds the millenium puzzle. Astral senses an interesting type of danger while inside Yuma's key, appears, and helps Yuma pull off that protagonist win because he thought there might be a potential number or a potential danger if they lost to Yugi. Then he faces Playmaker who has absolutely no special power, just badass dueling skills, so Astral is like well if Yuma loses there's no harm, so I'll just let him duel by himself, and he just plays a single monster in defense mode and then gets destroyed on his opponent's first turn just as normal like so many times during the first season of Zexal against his classmates lol
This would be pretty cool to do again with some of the villains. The main villains might be kinda tough since they have impractical decks (like zone or Zarc) but maybe: Marik, yubel, Aporia, Vector, Yuri, Revolver and then leave the last 2 slots for favorites?
Always wondered if they made this kind of tournament what would happen, not suprised that the best link 4 monster dominated the game, maybe in the future make the same thing but with updated cards for older protags, would be fun to see. Rivals tourney when?
Now you should do a run back with all their newer support (prioritized around their Ace obviously because Yugi has like 4 separate archetypes that are now their own decks) and see who wins that when it's actually at least somewhat fair as the OG trilogy characters never stood a chance against the latter 3 characters with this rule set and have them then duel against the winner of this one Yugi- Probably Gadgets with Gandora thrown in Atem-Dark Magician Jaden-EHeroes NeoSpacians Yusei-Stardust/Synchro Warriors Yuma-Onomatopia with a heavy Utopia Extra Deck Yuya-Full power Odd-Eyes Yusaku-Code Talkers Other than that the obvious choices would be the standard from each series rival, main girl, final villain, ect.
This would be better with modernized decks for the earlier protags. The new Stardust Support for Yusei, a straight Dark Magician deck for Yami, and an Omni-Masked Hero deck for Jaden.
Loved the idea, but I would advice to give the older characters a modernized version of the decks, it's kind of a "What? The newer characters beat out the older one with the newest winning the whole thing? I could have never seen this coming" kind of thing.
Also, what would've happened if Yuma used just his F0 Utopic Future monsters like he did in his ceremonial duel against Astral and not use Utopia monsters. Could that probably make a difference to move up and make it to the finals?
This is a great concept for a video, I’d love to see a version where the mc’s get a modernized version of theyre decks, mixing meta staples as well as their signature cards!
Would love to see more of these Rival - Kaiba, Chazz, Aster, Jack, Kite, Declan, Revolver (Kalin or Zane) Best Friend - Joey, Syrus, Jesse, Akiza, Crow, Shark, Gong, Soulburner Girls - Tea, Mai, Alexis, Akiza, Tori, Rio, Yuzu, Aoi Villains 1 - Pegasus, Kagemaru, Jack, Vetrix, Dr.Faker, Sora, Revolver (Weevil, Camula, Quattro or Spectre) Villains 2 - Marik, Sartorious, Rex Goodwin, Roman Goodwin, Vector, Dennis, Jean Michel Roget, George Gore (Best option as all others haven't had their decks released) Villains 3 - Bakura Yubel, Aporia, Zone, Nasch, Yuri, Z-arc, Ai
After the finals you should take the winners from all and do another Protagonist Rival Girl character Main antagonist Secondary antagonist Best friend Can’t think of another two but you get it
As a suggestion, how about a similar video to this one involving the Rivals/Best Friends/Villains respectively? The last of the three options could lead to a very big tournament since there are a lot of villains to choose from, from Panik, Pegasus, Marik, & Dartz to Zarc, Yubel, Supreme King, Revolver, Yuri, Kagemaru, & Paradox. And yet another option could be an "Archetype" tournament where you could pick Archetypes like Despia, Bystials, Tri-Brigade, Swordsouls, Blue-Eyes, Dark World, Destiny Heroes, Kashtira, Tearlaments, Diabellstar, etc. to go up against each other.
do the same with the rivals and if you're willing to do that, i also suggest one w/ the big bad villains cuz marik vs dartz ( anime cards) would be dope and who doesn't want to see revolver vs seto
When did Yusei use assault mode in the anime? I feel like it would have came up during the second season when Meklords were a thing since a lot of the build up to the fight against Primo was Yusei finding a way to fight the Meklords without the use of synchro monsters.
I'd love to see a version of this with the rival characters, like Kaiba, Jack and Kaito. Or, additionally, the protagonist tournament again but with updated versions of each deck's archetype. We could see if Playmaker would still stand up against modern versions of each protagonist.
There are 3 reasons why Playmaker won this tournament and would if this actually took place in a cross-over film or anime 1) He is solely focused on the duelling and not entertaining others (sorry Yuya) 2) He doesn’t preach about Heart Of The Cards every few minute (sorry Atem) 3) While he may feel the flow , he doesn’t have to voice it every few minutes (Sorry Yuma) Playmaker focuses on the game 😃😃 Great video and a fun watch😃😃 😃😃😃
I did this too. Though not for the channel yet. I did include the spirit partners and all 4 YuBoys from Arc-V. For Yugi and Atem's decks I had them use their Ceremonial decks. Same for Yuma and Astral.
I really liked the idea and video, but I'd be more interested if all the protagonists had a "modern version" of their deck. most of the characters felt like they had no shot just bc of power creep.
I would love to see a team tournament of rivals vs best friends who is stronger also for yuma it would be shark whos the best friend character not bronk also i knew my man yusaku would win his decks way to op
@dudono1744 like even Yugi who has the hack of drawing the card thta keeps him in duels drew trash at times yet playmaker gets game winning monsters every time
I’d love a version of this with real duelists and where it allows for modernization! Like the older the deck, the more recent archetype cards they could add? Like 2 for the most recent series than another two for each working backwards and they could only use cards protags used and those grandfathered in new archetype cards
Now you should do the rivals: -Kaiba -Zane and Chazz -Jack -Kite and Shark -Idk for Arc V, probably Declan -Soulburner It would be interesting to see if the trend sticks, with the Arc-V and Vrains character's topping and the earlier ones getting knocked out round one. That without his post zarc cards and with season 1 cards still in his deck but he will never defeat yusaku
@@YuyaSakaki385fact and how annoying ai is 😡
Yusaku probably has the closest to a "meta" deck of protagonist lmfao.
Yusei is my favorite because he has the hands
The early anime decks are just bad, even for their time
The newer the show, the more closely do the decks represent their current metas, for example yuma making a rank 4 and setting 2 is similar to dino rabbit making laggia/dolkka and setting 2, yusei summoning speed warrior isn't even close to being similar to teledad, jaden summoning clayman isn't similar to dad return, you get the point
Nice! I hope we see more tournaments like this.
Love the thought of Yugi being absolutely flabbergasted by every duelist showing him a new summoning method
“By the gods! what is that card?
I second this 🎉
That Yuma vs Yugi duel was STRAIGHT outta Zexal. They both had some great setup turns and then it went absolutely wild at the end.
Yusaku is one of my favorite protagonists so happy he won
this was epic!
Bro how is Jaden using his anime deck (pure) and Yusei gets Assault mode cards and lightning warrior from the manga?
Exactly the decks weren’t accurate at all
Yeah blade edge in the deck was crazy can’t believe he actually put that in there.
You should have given the older gens updated decks. Dark Magician has received a lot of new support, for example.
Love the idea of this, really fun.
Every single duel won by the newer deck, powercreep is real 😂
You should do a version of them with more updated versions of there decks since all of them got support last year
My boy Yuma got done so dirty in that semifinal nooooo 😭
kazuki takahashi would like this if only an anime version of this could happen
At least Playmaker would be using the Vrans rules then.
This would be pretty cool to do again with some of the villains. The main villains might be kinda tough since they have impractical decks (like zone or Zarc) but maybe: Marik, yubel, Aporia, Vector, Yuri, Revolver and then leave the last 2 slots for favorites?
It's named Yugioh because all the protagonist names starts with Yu
Always wondered if they made this kind of tournament what would happen, not suprised that the best link 4 monster dominated the game, maybe in the future make the same thing but with updated cards for older protags, would be fun to see.
Rivals tourney when?
Would love to see this again with modern support. Ie: Yugi gets to use pure Dark Magician, Atem pure Gods, Jaden Heroes etc.
Nah we don’t need that otherwise it’s not an anime duel
Now you should do a run back with all their newer support (prioritized around their Ace obviously because Yugi has like 4 separate archetypes that are now their own decks) and see who wins that when it's actually at least somewhat fair as the OG trilogy characters never stood a chance against the latter 3 characters with this rule set
and have them then duel against the winner of this one
Yugi- Probably Gadgets with Gandora thrown in
Atem-Dark Magician
Jaden-EHeroes NeoSpacians
Yusei-Stardust/Synchro Warriors
Yuma-Onomatopia with a heavy Utopia Extra Deck
Yuya-Full power Odd-Eyes
Yusaku-Code Talkers
Other than that the obvious choices would be the standard from each series rival, main girl, final villain, ect.
This would be better with modernized decks for the earlier protags.
The new Stardust Support for Yusei, a straight Dark Magician deck for Yami, and an Omni-Masked Hero deck for Jaden.
We definitely need a rival and best friend version of this. Revolver vs Reiji Akaba would be awesome and I want to see Soulburner in action.
Love this! Hope to see the Rivals next!
I’m telling ya Yuga would have won it all here….as long as he doesn’t play dark liberation.
Yuya and dark Rebellion?
Jaden got screwed over. Of course he had to play against the best deck in round one. I'd like to see this format again but best 2 out of 3
The best friends in a tournament would be fun as well.
Crow vs Jonouchi - epic battle to see
Yuma with Zexal Morph V3 literally beats anyone
Kudos to Yuma for winning at 100 lp left against smol yugi. Very Anime accurate.
kinda fitting the tourney came down to the last gallop protags. really shows how the game has advanced each arc
No one drew good against Playmaker that’s why he won so easily
Loved the idea, but I would advice to give the older characters a modernized version of the decks, it's kind of a "What? The newer characters beat out the older one with the newest winning the whole thing? I could have never seen this coming" kind of thing.
That was so cool! I didn't you can just do CPU vs CPU only. How can you do that?
Yusaku got torture as a kid he has truma about losing so him winning seem realistic
Next should be every Yu-Gi-Oh's protagonist Side kicks tournament
Yusaku was like I'm known as Playmaker for a reason cause I'm making godly plays 😂
Should do a best of 3, for all duels as love these kinds of videos
Yugi vs Yuma was best duel for sure
astral deserve to be considered protagonist aside yuma , just like yugi / yami yugi
You should try again with the most modern deck. It would be cool to see like dark magician
Imagine if the actual VAs provided voice-overs for this tournament.
Even playmaker doing the yoinky sploinky XD
Man I love the cyberse archetype 😆
Guy just doesn’t wanna lose
Yuma surviving with 100 life points left and grabbing monster reborn is such an anime moment.
It would definitely be better to keep it within the eras. All this video proved is the Power Creep of Yu-gi-oh. XD
A new anime promo been released it called yugioh card game chronicle
Would love to see more of these
Rival - Kaiba, Chazz, Aster, Jack, Kite, Declan, Revolver (Kalin or Zane)
Best Friend - Joey, Syrus, Jesse, Akiza, Crow, Shark, Gong, Soulburner
Girls - Tea, Mai, Alexis, Akiza, Tori, Rio, Yuzu, Aoi
Villains 1 - Pegasus, Kagemaru, Jack, Vetrix, Dr.Faker, Sora, Revolver (Weevil, Camula, Quattro or Spectre)
Villains 2 - Marik, Sartorious, Rex Goodwin, Roman Goodwin, Vector, Dennis, Jean Michel Roget, George Gore (Best option as all others haven't had their decks released)
Villains 3 - Bakura Yubel, Aporia, Zone, Nasch, Yuri, Z-arc, Ai
5:25 why didn't Grand Mole effect acrivate?
After the finals you should take the winners from all and do another
Protagonist
Rival
Girl character
Main antagonist
Secondary antagonist
Best friend
Can’t think of another two but you get it
One for each era would be cool 👀
12:30 Just another day for OTKmaker
Ngl can you do more of these. This is high key entertaining af plus with your play by plays. I wanna see the girls go ate it
“…moves Yusei wouldn’t make, like leaving Speed Warrior there…”
Are you kidding? Yusei let Speed Warrior get wrecked all the damn time.
Thank you for this video illustrating that power creep is real lmaooo
Personally, id use the more modern decks. Because link summoning is fundamentally broken
I guess this tournament answers this question. Maybe a villains tournament should be next
Yuma always winning with 100 LP or less.
I'd love to see a version of this with the rival characters, like Kaiba, Jack and Kaito. Or, additionally, the protagonist tournament again but with updated versions of each deck's archetype. We could see if Playmaker would still stand up against modern versions of each protagonist.
I knew who will win before this even started
There are 3 reasons why Playmaker won this tournament and would if this actually took place in a cross-over film or anime
1) He is solely focused on the duelling and not entertaining others (sorry Yuya)
2) He doesn’t preach about Heart Of The Cards every few minute (sorry Atem)
3) While he may feel the flow , he doesn’t have to voice it every few minutes (Sorry Yuma)
Playmaker focuses on the game 😃😃
Great video and a fun watch😃😃
😃😃😃
Way to spoil it
Of course yusaku did well.
Ai is one of his best friends
My reaction to yuto in thumbnail
"Who invited bro, blud thinks he part of the team"
I predicted the final perfectly. Playmaker wins because he is the only one who was 100% skill and no plot armor.
Saying no plot armor is a stretch when he's allowed to pull the most clutch card from his ability 😮💨
Access code really carried Playmaker.
@@dimitrijames00001His ability is just getting good cards that he reuses later, but I agree it should have been trash at least once.
@dudono1744 like even Yugi who has the hack of drawing the card thta keeps him in duels drew trash at times yet playmaker gets game winning monsters every time
Astral would just play the same Utopia deck as Yuma with a few more numbers so thankfully the wheel didn't land on him.
Yuya: ... and you still take the damage!
When i saw the thumbnail Yuya, my head is like Yuya and his incarnates can win since all of them are a part of him I mean are him.
I’d love a version of this with real duelists and where it allows for modernization! Like the older the deck, the more recent archetype cards they could add? Like 2 for the most recent series than another two for each working backwards and they could only use cards protags used and those grandfathered in new archetype cards
Now you should do the rivals:
-Kaiba
-Zane and Chazz
-Jack
-Kite and Shark
-Idk for Arc V, probably Declan
-Soulburner
It would be interesting to see if the trend sticks, with the Arc-V and Vrains character's topping and the earlier ones getting knocked out round one. Or perhaps Kite/Jack could pull something?
Did so.
@@christopherb501 Yh, I found it interesting he didn't choose soulburner for vrains. I consider him much more of a rival to yusaku than revolver is. Revolver's more of an antihero imo.
