Watch as we make A Marilyn wallet from start to finish. Pattern can be found at lindshandmade.com Small flip locks can be found here: www.ningbags.c...
I love your patterns and the videos that show how to construct them. Fantastic, professional look when finished. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Since I’m a Grandma, I will say: “You Can Teach An old Dog New Tricks.”
Compliment here, another reason I loved this is that you didn't talk and talk and carry on like most do. You focused on your wallet and made the construction and how to assemble it to where you can understand exactly how to do so. I guarantee I'll have all your patterns!
Hi! First time viewing one of your videos. Very helpful. I have an order for a Marilyn wallet and the customer would like me to add a thin crossbody strap. Do you think this is possible and where do I place the connectors? I will be using cork for the exterior. Thanks!
I’ve seen people add a d ring tab just above the pen pocket portion in order to add a wristlet strap but this style isn’t really great to add a crossbody strap to because it will hang upside down then if you tried to add another d ring on the other side of the pen pocket. I suppose you could experiment with adding some side connectors like we use on the slim sling perhaps? Another idea I just had is maybe rivet some small d ring tabs onto the back of the wallet zipper pocket section to clip a strap to?
I can not tell you just how many wallet patterns I have looked at online and none were my style or the kind of wallet I would want for myself till I found THIS ONE !!!! I love it !!! I love everything about it !!! I love all the colors you can use and I love all the rich details you can use, This one is TOP SHELF and just the one I was looking for !!! Thank you for sharing I BOUGHT the PATTERN TODAY !!!!! Thank you so much and the video is perfect
Thank you so much for the tutorial and the pattern! It’s really great and easy to follow. I have a question (it doesn’t really related with the pattern actually). I’m going to make this wallet with the vinyl, but I have problem: my feed dog somehow scratch the vinyl (back part). I noticed that you use the same machine as mine (Juki DDL8700) or maybe one of your sewing machine in the video. Do you have any advice?? Thank you so much! Sorry for my unrelated question...☺️
Lani the 8700 is designed to sew lightweight fabrics so as it comes, you’ll find your foot pressure is too tight and will need to be loosened in order to not press so hard on the vinyl and cause the teeth marks from the feed dogs.

Hello I am considering purchasing this pattern. The vinyl you suggested I believe is 16-18 gauge? Is this appropriate for a domestic aka home sewing machine? If so, can you recommend a place to purchase the vinyl or faux leather? Thanks a bunch! I think this patten is lovely!💜
Hmm I’ll be honest, I don’t pay much attention to the “gauge” of vinyl when I use it. It should definitely be a lighter weight (drape-y but not stretchy) vinyl for this pattern if you’re using a domestic machine otherwise turning it can be really tough. I’m a big fan of the vinyls from mypunkbroidery.com. Otherwise if you’re looking for fandom type vinyls, ohsoprettycustomfabric.com has a great selection.
Honestly the two terms are used interchangeably within the bag making community to mean the same thing. Anything that is a man made product designed to mimic leather but isn’t actually leather.
Thank you so much for such a great pattern and tutorial. I just finished the Marilyn Wallet and your directions were perfect. I am very visual like you said you are you were so helpful.
Does the ID window with raw edges bother some people? I mean would it have sharp edges? I would have to cover the top of the clear vinyl with something.
I have looked online at several diy wallets to make for myself. This is by far the best laid-out design along with great style. I will be purchasing your pattern. Thank you!
Just add the window to the right piece. You won’t be able to “switch” sides based on the slip pocket parts but adding the ID window to the right side is not a problem.
J Johnson I have both a domestic singer heavy duty as well as 2 juki industrial machines. I prefer to use my walking foot industrial for most of my makes but this wallet can totally be made on a domestic machine 👍🏻
I have a juki 1181 and a domestic. I wonder if my juki has to do thicker layers for the interior woven fabric. Like if I would need my domestic unless sewing it all together
Okay perfect! I'm new to mine, I was thinking I'd need to use my domestic for the card slots but its be cool to be able to do it all on one machine 😅🤷🏽♀️😁

OMG I just found this after 3 yrs. Great tutorial. Fixing to make it. Thank you! I love all the card slots and all!
Beautiful wallet and tutorial, I had purchased the pattern a year ago or less and made one so far, so I am anxious to make another one! Thank you ❤️😊👍

This is a very nice wallet but I found the directions and the fabric pieces to be put together a bit confusing.
where do I find the punch for the swivel lock?
I found a 39 piece leather punch set on Amazon that I purchased and used with my hand press.
Muchas gracias. Precioso. ¿Podrias decirme qué materiales empleas para el relleno rígido, la fliselina. Soy novata pero me ha encantado

Do you have the already made for sale ?
I don’t personally have any ready to ship but there are a lot of makers out there who offer this style as customs or ready to ship 👍🏻
@@LindsHandmadeDesigns thank you for replying
Hi I wonder if anyone can help me. I have cut this purse out several times and each time my main back panel is too short
Are you double checking it printed the correct size?
How many inches is the card template ?

@@LindsHandmadeDesigns So you think a faux leather would be better than a vinyl? Thank you for such a fast response!

Can the outside of this be made with cork?
Absolutely! I’ve seen many made in cork. 😀
Having issues w Etsy. Want to purchase Marilyn wallet pattern & H2o to go. How else can I purchase? I don't do FB. Thank you!
Both are available on my website Lindshandmade.com
@lindshandmade Got it! Ordered both. Much easier than Etsy.

Thank you so much for such a great pattern and tutorial. I just finished the Marilyn Wallet and your directions were perfect. I am very visual like you said you are you were so helpful.
Wow, what a nice compliment! So glad you find this video helpful 😀
Also what is the black fabric you used and where can I get some?
J Johnson I used a lightweight cowhide leather for this wallet that I got from my local Tandy leather.
Sew excited to make this!!! I hope my secret swap loves it!
I hope so too! 🤗
Such a cute wallet! So glad I got this pattern can't wait to try it out 😊
Thank you!
Hello Kristen from another Ennis !!! That is my maiden name. 😉
Does the ID window with raw edges bother some people? I mean would it have sharp edges? I would have to cover the top of the clear vinyl with something.
You can add a strip of binding if you prefer. I tend to cut a rounded notch along the top so there are no sharp bits.
Could you use decovil in place of the peltex 71f in this bag? If so, would it be heavy or lite?
Sure, you’re welcome to try it. I’ve only ever used the peltex myself. It isn’t fused for the flap and main body so those I’d do heavy.
Gorgeous 😍
Is there a link to get paltex?
It’s a pellon product so readily available online or at Joanne fabrics. 😀
Where did you buy your twist lock?
I love the small flip locks from ningbags.com. 🙌🏻
Linds Handmade Designs Thank You
When are you going to show the piece, as in what it looks like before it’s made?
How much would u sale this wallets for ?
I have looked online at several diy wallets to make for myself. This is by far the best laid-out design along with great style. I will be purchasing your pattern. Thank you!
What a nice compliment! Thank you so much 😀
I prefer to have my licence window thing on the right can i just switch the sides the pieces are sewen?
Just add the window to the right piece. You won’t be able to “switch” sides based on the slip pocket parts but adding the ID window to the right side is not a problem.
Beautiful but little complicated. Color combination also make it attractive
I do find wallets in general can appear more complicated than other projects because of their size and need for very accurate seam allowances.
The drop down arrow does not show a link to the pattern ???

What kind of machine do you have?
J Johnson I have both a domestic singer heavy duty as well as 2 juki industrial machines. I prefer to use my walking foot industrial for most of my makes but this wallet can totally be made on a domestic machine 👍🏻
I have a juki 1181 and a domestic. I wonder if my juki has to do thicker layers for the interior woven fabric. Like if I would need my domestic unless sewing it all together
J Johnson yes! That’s the machine I have and love. I don’t use it for the cotton card slots though, I save those areas for my domestic machine. 👍🏻
Okay perfect! I'm new to mine, I was thinking I'd need to use my domestic for the card slots but its be cool to be able to do it all on one machine 😅🤷🏽♀️😁
