I've had the pattern and FINALLY made it! I love it! The question I have is in regards to stitching the zipper. I use #5 zipper by the yard. Should I stitch close to the teeth, use 1/4" stitch from edge of the zipper tape, or 3/8" from edge of zipper tape. Thanks much!
Hello Linds! I just made 2 dayna packs out of cork! And I used my new Juki 1181. Really enjoyed making them. Question for you...where do tou get your vinyl from? I'd like to try using vinyl on this pack and also on your backpack as well. Thanks again😊
So many small shops are selling vinyl now. A good place to start is mypunkbroidery.com. They have a TON to choose from. If you’re wanting inspired prints, most of those are offered as preorders. I’d encourage you to join bag making groups on Fb to see when stuff like that is being offered. Hopefully you’re in my group but another good one is Sew Whatever and Creative Bag Making.
I used leather for this one (you can also use this method for cork or vinyl as well) and made it a little wider at 1 ½”. So I cut the strap 3” wide, draw a line down the center and lay some double side tape straddling that line and fold the long edges to the center and press it into the adhesive. Then with the seam side up, I see just lateral to that center seam on both sides and then finish it off by sewing along both long folded edges. Does that help?
Thank you so much for the great pattern and tutorial! I was considering using cork for the exterior. Do you have any advice that might be specific to using cork? Also making the straps with cork? Do you think that’s not a good idea? Thank you in advance. ❤
It works great for cork and leather! If you want to see one specifically taught iusing cork, check out Sewgnar’s UA-cam channel! She has a video for a cork dayna 😀
Omg I loooove this, just finished one! Do you think a slip pocket on the back would be too bulky? I’ve added a little interior zip pocket for change and stuff. But I wonder if a slip would make my machine struggle? Again, love your patterns. So easy to follow with the videos!!!!
Thank you so much! I love the idea for a slip pocket for something slim or small like your phone or maybe cash but just keep in mind that you wouldn’t want anything bulky in there because that’s sitting right up against your body and 1) you don’t want anything to dig in or 2) distort the shape of the pack and look funny wearing it. 👍🏻
Linds Handmade Designs thank you for replying! OOOH I love the idea of just adding a small slip for my phone 🙌🏻 I’m already making a second one haha! So pretty and so many possibilities 🤣🤣🤣 xx
It’s supposed to start ¼” from the top for the final turn at the end. I line it up with the back of the top panel, then clip the middle bottom and ease in the rounded corners. Otherwise did you verify the 1” test box printed true to size on all pieces??
You just made me rewatch my video to see what red scissors you were referring to, lol. Those I got from my local Tandy leather. As far as the rivet “puncher” goes do you mean the hole punch or the setting press? I have an individual punch and rotary punch, both also from Tandy leather. The hand press I got from Goldstar tool online because they had the best price but buyer beware, the customer service is severely lacking if you go with them 😳
Ok I understand, but unfortunately my English is too bad for a written pattern. (Deepl is my friend) A video would be better and more helpful for me. But I will give it a try
@@LindsHandmadeDesigns FYI I've made a total of 3 bags. I found this to be very helpful. I'm about to buy the pattern. Love your teaching style and I want to get good enough to make the Mav pack!
Just finished my first Dayna Pack! What a fun quick sew! Love it!
Yay! So glad you enjoyed it! I too love how quickly this bag comes together 👌🏻
Just made my first one... Love it! First time working with vinyl, not as scary as I thought! Thank you for the pattern! 😁👍🏻
Yesss! That makes me so happy to hear!
So awesome! You made this look very easy and I’ve been wanting to make one for myself ❤
You can do it! It’s actually very easy and one of the first patterns of mine I recommend for beginners ☺️
I love 💕 this pattern
I’m so glad! 🤗
I bought all your patterns
Thank you so much for your support! 🙏🏻

Love this pattern. Can you please tell me the fabric choice you used here? Ty
It’s a canvas print I got a few years ago. I think it was from fabric dot com if I remember correctly. 🤔
Finally found this video, I bought the pattern last year from etsy...
Do you have instructions or a video on how you made the strap in this video. I love the way it looks.
I used leather for this one (you can also use this method for cork or vinyl as well) and made it a little wider at 1 ½”. Thank so much. Doing the strap tomorrow to finish my first Dayna pack
VERY very nice & simple tutorial 🙌🏿

Thanks so much Lindsay! I’ll definitely do that. 💕
I wonder if you might share where you got yr. hole punch or namebrand. I bought one fm. Tandy that is super wimpy, cd. never go thru that strap. THX!
Interesting because that’s where I got mine! I know there are different priced ones but this one is only about $9 and works amazing for me.
Can the Dayna be worn in the front like a crossbody? Got mine all cut out.
Yes of course! I’ve seen many people wear it that way.
👍
Hi I have a question, see for the back main panel and the side panels is this a leather fabric or a faux leather fabric that you are using? Thanks 😊
I used cowhide leather for this one. Lots of people use cork or vinyl too!

My back lining fabric is too small to be basted on the main body panels, not sure why

I did 1/4 seam allowance on zipper at first then I did 3/8 , it fit fine after that still with 1/4 shorter than top

the Dayna a pack Pattern
Unfortunately, the video is much too fast. I can't see what you are sewing. Too bad
This was my very first pattern and very first video tutorial and the intention was to be just a supplement to the written pattern, not replace it.

The pattern is nice but this video isn’t very helpful for beginners.
It’s really meant to supplement the written instructions for those who are more visual learners, not replace them entirely.
