You are an excellent teacher. That is the reason she chose you! I will order the pattern and locks. Thank you once again for your expertise. Love ya and stay safe. As my Mom says, “This too shall pass.” Take care.
Thank you so much Nancy! As hard as it's been, I feel like the sewing community has grown and come together in such a beautiful way. I truly can't imagine living through this moment in history without all of you.
So, I'm so new to making stuff with my sewing machine! I have always used it to fix rips and tears, do very easy stuff! BUT!!! After finding you on here I'm making reusable grocery bags! Lol! Now I'm gonna attempt a purse or wallet! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I think it's the excitement you bring to your videos! You make me want to make something...anything! And you make it so easy to follow along! During this coronavirus time, your videos are something I look forward to! A very happy distraction! You're awesome!
I’m a newbie to bag making... and have been looking for a wallet pattern... THIS IS IT!!! Thank you! I signed up at S Ogg this past weekend... am excited to try my hand at this!
Oh Jess my week is already better😜 I haven’t made a wallet yet so here goes😳.....”eyeball it’s” and “ it doesn’t have to be perfect” love it my kind of sewing!! 😂 did you know that you are one of the ONLY you tubers that actually answers comments, most just give us a ❤️, well done in taking us “fans” seriously. So right! I totally love Jess and her group. She really shares her experiences AND she wants us to enjoy it as well. I’m so glad I found her. Spencer Ogg’s group is the same. Always helpful and super supportive! 🙌🏼🌸
Great video! Love your instructions. I can hardly wait to make this wallet. I now have the hardware to make this up - no waiting LOL. And I may try to put a second set of card slots on the opposite side.
I have that pink unicorn fabric. It just love it. It makes me happy. My nephew had a foster child with him for awhile and I made a little "girl purse" with it. I just know that she felt the love I sewed into it. God bless.
Yipeeeee. Thank you for a fun sew❤️. I really appreciate your links to your vendors. I love purchasing from smaller companies rather than Amazon etc. Stay well and happy 🤗🤗
I totally agree Lisa! I try hard to support handmade and local shops as much as I can. And they definitely appreciate your support, I've been getting emails from Etsy sellers letting me know how much they love you all!
Another great tutorial Jess. Thanks a lot for doing this. I have this pattern but hadn't tried it yet. Now I can't wait to make one (or many). Thanks Diane for another great pattern.
I’m going to make this wallet again and take your recommendation of putting craft fuse interfacing in the gussets. Do I have to leave it out of the seams?
thankyou Jess another great tutorial, I love this pattern, slim line and looks easy even for me to make, only thing I would want is a few more card slots, ( which ive just found in Diane's group ) but apart from the i love it , you are a ray of sunshine with your bubbly personality , i look forward to every Monday for your next tutorial
That's a great point Suzy! I made one of these for my Mother, and she said the same thing: "More card slots". It's a great design to build on, I love that.
My sister doesn't make any type of bag but I sent one of your videos to her to show her what I was making and she said she watched the whole thing bc she enjoyed your teaching style!!!
You can steam press vinyl, use low heat and steam. It makes it pliable and easier work with. The fold will hold and it does nothing to the vinyl. I use to do this all the time when I did re-upholstery on car and truck seats.
Hi Jess! Thank you soooooo much for doing this pattern. I'm a visual learner!!!! I do have a question... On 2 sections in the video you mention folding the edges up of the fabric by three quarters of an inch. But tbe pattern said 3/8". I forgot where the first one was but the second was around minute 46:34. I just wanted to double check bc it does look like you're folding up 3/4" of an inch. I suck at wallets so I just want to make sure I'm doing everything right... Thanks so much for the amount of time you put in for all of us!!! It is beyond helpful!! ❤️❤️❤️
Would using pinking shears for the edges of the quilt cotton help with fraying? If i wanna do that should i cut directly over the cut lines or just outside the cut? Love this video thank you!!
Hi Jess from Adelaide, South Australia. The very top card slot pocket ( the one that had to be sew 2 inches from the top so it isn't so deep) it looks like it is not going to be lined when finished, the interfacing will be seen if you poke your nose into it, is that correct.
I know this was a year ago but do you remember where you got that rose fabric? It’s is absolutely gorgeous! My mom would love it! That’s if it’d still be available and if you remember that is.
Wow Jess ,lots of steps but when you think about it so worth it. Finished wallet is lovely AS A NEW SEWING MISTRESS im hanging to go to my local haberdashery to buy some goodies to get started. Soon as lock down is over .im going to hunt out a bra find some shoes and retail my heart out baby lol Have a great day ...
This will be my first wallet pattern. Love your fabric choices. Lucky person who receives this! Emmaline carries corner pieces for the flap if they start to bend. Waiting for my strap holder to arrive today. I have a roll of cork that does not have any backing on it. Strangest thing I’ve ever seen. May try that with interfacing , if not got some really cool prints.
It's a great iron! The only thing is it doesn't stand up on its end, it has to lay flat. It's by Panasonic, I would give you a link, but I can't find it in stock anywhere!
@@OklaRoots i was scrolling thru comments to see if you addressed where you got that rose fabric. I absolutely love this!! let us know if you find any more. love this video
How would you make the back of the card slot into just one large pocket instead of 2 more slots? I was thinking of stitching up the middle before laying onto the lining but wouldn’t that leave the card slot loose?
Hi mam, i love your videos. I am new to sewing and i would love to try this wallet. I have a question if i want to make it with vinyl what type would you suggest and what company is the pink fabric you used in this video?
The pattern actually includes a strap, but I didn't have the specific hardware. But it would be adorable! Those are Binding Babies: doohikeydesigns.com/collections/bindingbabiesmedium
Well Done Jess, I think this is a great wallet for beginners and creative minds can do wonders to enhance it. But I also think out of the gate it is a bit bland. 🤷♀️ I always like to be honest. There are tons of ways to jazz it up to make it your own. That is a plus, so it is a good starting place♡.
Yeah!! I have been wanting to try this wallet but was thinking no way I could make that! Thanks for changing my mind. Your tutorials have been such a blessing through this very hard time. Thanks for all your hard work! Have you ever done a small crossbody? I have looked and didn't find any in your tutorials. If not maybe that can be an idea for a later one. Perfect for summer.
Thank you so much for the kind words Jennifer! My everyday bag is a small Sunshine crossbody, here is the video for it: ua-cam.com/video/unZuZBtNmKM/v-deo.html
Hi Jess, just wanted to ask why Decovil heavy is used instead of the Decovil Light in this wallet? I've never used the Heavy, and I am waiting on an order of the Light. Would one layer of the light work with this wallet? I just love all of your videos. You explain every detail, and I love that you show the stitch length, and what size seam allowance you use with each step...That is very helpful.
Great question! The heavy just keeps the wallet very firm and flat. Light would allow the wallet to fold on itself. You could use two layers of the light and have the same results as one layer of heavy.
Love the print of your wallet..... I just bought a sheet of baby yoda fabric I’m now torn on what to use it on! This is a fun wallet.... simple but fun but I’d had a turn hook...in unicorn hardware
I am working on my worsley wallet now!! It is coming along nicely. I am reading the pattern, then watching your video bit-by-bit as I go along!!! So helpful!!! Thank you. Just wondering, what lotion do you use on your hands??? Your hands look so soft!!! LOL!!! I know its not the point of the video... but, I have been watching your working hands for a couple hours now, and could not help but notice!!!
I got this pattern and have cut out the strap as directed (on the fold) and it has ended up far too long for the main pieces of the wallet. Could anyone confirm if this is a mistake to the pattern and that it shouldn't be on the fold. Ta
I enjoy your videos. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I have one small negative comment. You have DST as part of the supplies. You used 1 1/2" piece only. Because you never sew through the DST, would it not have been a good idea to show using it down the middle of the vinyl strap, not only as an easy way to keep the edges together, but it adds some stabilizer to sometimes stretchy vinyl. Just a thought, especially for new sewers who don't understand the use of DSt. this alone makes the job go from homemade to handmade. Just an idea. Keep up the great work.
That's a great point Elona! I try to show everything I'll be using, even if it's a very small amount of it, because I know I'll get asked about it in the comments. But yes, double sided tape can be used in many steps of this project, and it's such a time saver! Thank you so much for the comment!
@@OklaRoots I seldom say negatives and I hate to. You appeared to be struggling a bit with keeping edges together and usually you are right on with all the little steps. It just looked a bit awkward.

Love love love all of your videos, I was primarily a quilter and you have give me the courage to tackle the projects that you demo... thanks 💜🧡
Yes! 525 is decovil light and 526 would be the heavy. I'm so happy to hear you're tackling bags! I'm a quilter first as well.
