Hey Phil, if you're ever out riding the Sydney Metro, keep an eye out for unit 22 because it's equipped with geographical monitoring equipment for track maintenance
I use the Cherrybrook station to go to work in Macquarie Park and Bella Vista. Such a breeze at 5pm when traffic jam is at its highest. Get back home in 10 minutes plus a brisk walk for a mile.
It was so awesome getting to meet you and Paul here at Bella Vista last weekend. I know I only said hello for a moment before letting you two go off to film more Metro action, but hey, I do hope to see you again sometime. Loads of people seem to be addicted to the Metro so far, which I guess is good despite all those technical difficulties. Might try and have another ride tomorrow eh? Anyway, I’m guessing you’ll attend the Transport Heritage Expo this weekend? I heard that Red Rattler F1 will be there again, and I know how much you like to film it. Hopefully I’ll get to see you at Circular Quay when you film the Vivid Festival trains vlog episode. I’ve been going to the festival myself over a few days and I’ve been enjoying it.
you should do a video at the stations below chatswood (Artarmon, St Leonards, Wollstonecraft, Waverton, North Sydney, Milsons Point) to see the differences it makes after metro opens. People cant board the train because of this
Nathan B Ring You should do that when you're out on the regular Sydney Trains network too. It was thanks to Phil's videos that I now pay more attention to set and carriage numbers.
Nice video. Pity your video doesn’t capture the steepness of the gradient out of Bella Vista up to Kellyville. Must be at least a 1 in 30, although no issue for the Alstom trains.
@@wattoman28 Cherrybrook is near Thompson's Corner, the highest point of Sydney. Check out the height difference in Carlingford Road from Carlingford to Epping and you know it is quite a drop.
Hi Phil, I know you are quite busy with requests but can you please film the NSW Trainlink Xplorer at Tamworth on the NSW Trainlink Regional network please
Due to all trains being closely backed behind each other, One must wait until the one ahead passes the next signal block before it leaves. The main purpose of Autonomous Trains was so that trains can be run like this, With drivers that can be hazardous.
there actually is a timetable. pretty stupid for something that is designed to run at high frequency. (one every 10 minutes is below average frequency for the rest of the world)
Wow if they spend at least 2 minutes at the station and at some times they come leave every 4 mins, then there must be a train on each platform nearly all the time! Anyway, great video!
@@stress-over Yeah I know. They have set up a huge plant in India for outsourcing their Rolling Stock manufacture. Our metro coaches are now made by our own State owned entities like BEML and ICF. So Alstom is now exporting all coaches to various nations.
What’s the deal with the iPhone voice platform announcements at the Metro stations? I hope it’s a short term thing just for now coz they sound totally rubbish!
Nichole The Otter but isn’t that stupid that we need those things from making us fall onto the tracks? Thank God I have sane mind and not some suicidal tendencies or just want to jump on tracks out of boredom. Just so annoyed how humanity is becoming dumb by the each passing year. Since last 150 years since trains exist there has been no need for this and all of a sudden because people are becoming namby pamby we need this ? :( just so sad...
MLAGG10N3 There have been instances of people killing others by intentionally or accidentally pushing them off the platform. There are some advantages to them underground as they allow for better ventilation and air conditioning. They can prevent rubbish from going on the tracks as well. Also, they’ve existed since 1987 in Singapore. Yes, some of your points are valid, but for those who decide to risk death by jumping on the tracks, it doesn’t just affect them, it traumatises the driver as well (there’s no driver here, but some other metros do).
Dean L I understand you also. I haven’t been long time here in Australia just found this channel as I love trains but first is it really that bad that people here push others on tracks on purpose ? I never seen that from where I come from. Secondly there are rubbish bins and I don’t get why people here in Sydney trains leave rubbish in the trains or throw it on platforms. I was always taught to collect my shit with me. and thirdly also one thing buzzing me is how come the male voice has to warn the passengers “doors closing please stand clear”. Like I know doors are closing I am not that stupid. Maybe a bit but my eyes can see that doors are closing and my mind knows door will close any moment. I mean I like the infrastructure here very modern trains and tracks and central station but some things are my gosh like they are made for little children not for grown ups.
MLAGG10N3 I think the announcements/light warnings are made for blind people/deaf people who take public transport on their own. Some idiots throw rubbish on the tracks because they couldn’t give a shit, I have no idea how they can educate these thick skulls to throw rubbish in the bin though. Schools emphasise the importance of throwing rubbish in the bin because of animals choking on them and to keep places clean, but some people just don’t get that. I guess you’re not wrong, there are advantages/disadvantages to everything.

Love the video and the sound of these trains 😊
Great vid! 👍🏼
Great Video Footage as usual Phil thanks for sharing :)

The traction package on the new Metro units sound very much like the those on the UK's Victoria Line fleet on the London Underground
Theyre both made by Alstom
Also noticed the strip of lighting running parallel with the platform screens on the ground there light too especially at night is cool

Those Alstom Metropolis Trains had an uncanny resemblance of Bombardier's Movia C951 Trains in Singapore

I love Sydney trains vlogs
I'm going to start writing down train numbers so I can know which trains I have ridden and the ones that I haven't

The gradient is bigger between cherrybrook and epping.
Walked it enough to know 😂

Sitting at a platform for that amount of time would drive me nuts
So cold in Sydney now! Freezing up to 9 degrees!!
Sydney Trains Vlogs how often do these new trains arrive at Bella Vista?
Every 4 min
GiddyLi0n The train head Metro services currently operate every 5 mins during peak times, and every 10 mins otherwise.
Everyone Likes Sydney Metro!
New Look!
Joshua2004 it looks great
Jack Emanuel Oh Thank You! I Subbed 👍❤️👍❤️👍❤️
Yeah looks nice! I liked your commwnt
It will be the same mode as Montreal REM
Doesn't look very busy... was this filmed outside of rush hour? Does it get busy during rush hour?
Chreis I think Phil filmed this last Friday. And no it wasn't during peak.
When are you gonna do trains again if you do please at chester hill or villawood
Hey Phil can you do early morning Wolli Creek T4 Line on Monday next week? I'm getting a train there and I wanna see you
Hi Phil, I know you are quite busy with requests but can you please film the NSW Trainlink Xplorer at Tamworth on the NSW Trainlink Regional network please
why is it the trains are staying on the platform so long? there is no timetable so it should go right away.
Traffic.

@@tazzer9 there's no point running at high frequency when nobody is riding it. Every 10 minutes is perfect reasonable outside of the peak

This is probably off peak. In peak they spend as short of time as they can at each one
Well, I guess the next thing to look forward to is Southeast Light Rail.
Yishai Barr And not forgetting the Tangara Technology Upgrade. That's getting rolled out very soon.
Yishai Barr dam I wish Brisbane cared this much about public transport
@@electrichanoi7244 The thing is, Brisbane was supposed to build a metro, but then they decided to replace it with a BRT.
Can u please do Castle Hill??
Great vlog Phil! Do the metro trains have their set numbers yet?
JvBoi 5911 Phil says it in the video. The set numbers can be identified by first two digits of the carriage numbers.
Why do the trains sit at the station for so long?
Australians are not like the Japanese or Koreans or Chinese ect. We take our time getting onto trains for some reason!
Beautiful
Made in India by Alstom ! They look very similar to Kochi Metro Coaches in India...
The Indian Lifelines Alstom is from France, not India

Ok thanks
very happy to see that these all trains are made in India 🤗🤗
Is that VVVF-IGBT or what?
Its an Alstom built motor, similar to that used on the M Sets
By a train every 4 minutes, I guess they meant for both sides of the platform.

Matt Dunn Lol ikr, it literally makes me nuts
Is it really necessary for Sydney to have 2 train systems
Matt Wakefield yes
Don’t ever go on scary escalators.
Sydney metro
The door alignment is way off
Come back to Queensland 😂
Controlled by dcc 😁
Go to Melbourne Boi

What’s with those stupid glass railings?? Did we became so stupid that we need those things to protect us from falling on rail tracks ???
MLAGG10N3 It's something other metro rail systems use. They're designed to stop people and objects falling onto the tracks.
