Good stuff Phil! - I was on the service in front of you from Carlo to Westmead. That right turn from Rosehill Gardens towards the bridge certainly grabs your attention...
Wow, the big day has finally arrived! And it was a perfect day for it. Kudos to the real heroes of our public transport, the drivers and train guards. And thanks Phil for being there.
It came up on us by surprise lol I’m so happy it has opened, it’s a much needed line for all of the suburbs serviced by it. Yes they are definitely our heroes :)
8:33 - stand clear doors closing announcement. first time on a sydney tram. i am really happy this has been introduced. along with the time to next destination on the pids, following on from canberra. 12:18 - an example where the speed limit is too high and the driver should probably go 10km for a smoother ride.
Hi Phil, thanks for sharing this opening. this will be a big day in history for sure for the Parramatta regions. Certainly a nice sunny day to have the opening, which is an extra bonus. It is great that they were able to reuse some of the former train reservation. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Hi mate! :) No worries, thank you for watching. It’s truly something that Parramatta and every suburb along the line needed :) The Dundas station building has been kept and is part of the Dundas stop which i find so great. I’ll be spending more time in Melbourne in the near future :)
Hey Phil! I took the 5am service from Westmead this morning, took it all the way to Carlo and then back again! It was a fun experience, having been there when it first came through the cbd back in March during the testing phase. Fun fact you were on the same LRV I took this morning. Anyways I hope you enjoyed the trip!
It's great that it's finally open, and I hope the businesses that have struggled along the line during construction begin to see some relief, but it will never stop irking me that there wasn't a way to link to Epping to meet with the Metro.
Agreed! Don’t get me wrong, i loved it when Sydney Trains were running but it was such a pain getting anywhere as you could wait anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour getting at train from Carlingford to Clyde then you’d have to change for another train. It’s so much easier this way. They kept a little bit of history at Dundas (the station building).
I was there Phil did the first trip but I didn't see you Today was only a trip both ways but from tomorrow I'll start visiting stops each day and filming at different locations as it's a new Line
Awesome video as always. Love your content. I admit I might visit Parramatta once a year so this is like being a tourist for me. “Childrens hospital station”- isn’t that missing an apostrophe in the spelling? 😂
Just curious; are the outside stops the only way to touch on and off on Opal Readers there, or do they also have Opal Readers inside the trams as well? I know all the trains there have outside Opal Readers on stations and I would assume the ferries would have a similar arrangement on wharves. In Melbourne, Myki readers are inside trams and buses, though only outside on stations with trains. In Adelaide, the Metrocard Readers are inside of trams, buses and even trains. Also, in Adelaide, there is only touching on and not touching off.
It seems to be a lot faster and zippier than the atrociously slow line that goes to Randwick and Kingsford. Theyve done a great job with the aesthetics of the line too. Just need to work on improving the light/signal sequencing.
Isn't this the line that had so many problems and delays, with both tracks and trains having issues? I remember seeing TV news reports here about a problematic tram line with no opening date in sight. Seeing that this one is open, I might be confusing 2 different lines. Though the rolling sound is a bit bizarre.
Yes this is the one however the news blew it waaaaaaay out of proportion. Yes they had a number of issues but it’s to be expected as it’s a brand new like with brand new vehicles. It’s a pretty good system i reckon :) Once all the teething issues are ironed out it’ll he even better :)
Thanks. I saw them on UA-cam, as I live pretty much on the other side of the world. Good for Sydney to get a bew tram line, is it connected to any of the new metro stations? Greetings from Paris.
There is a new Metro line that will connect Parramatta to Sydney CBD and suburbs in between that’s due to open in 2032 :) I’d love to visit Paris one day :)
Ah yes, that's the West line that goes directly West from the CBD, right? Serving the Olympic park and the "land fingers" extending into the bay. Has construction started on this line yet? I really hope they'll do a second or even third Mega Metro series. Yes you should come visit Paris, especially because it's in the middle of a transit-a-palooza era right now. They're currently building the gigantic Grand Paris Express metro expansion, among many other things. This year was particularly rich, with the opening of 1 tramway extension, 3 metro extensions, and 1 RER extension, totaling over 30 kilometers of new lines and something like 24 new stations. Plus a bunch of fancy new trains on several lines. Next year, there'll also be the first multi-station urban transit gondola line opening in the city-region. Then massive sections of the 200km metro expansion opening pretty much every year until 2032. Plus the many tramway extensions under construction or planned. This comes after a decade during which they opened 10 new tramway lines. It's like it's raining new transit. So there's plenty of new tunnels, stations, trains, metros, trams, and other vehicles, like Disney World for transit enthusiasts.
Could have made it more informative by having accompanying map of the network showing progress, clear audible announcements of stations, and how much time the complete journey takes from start to finish.
If you think this is slow you haven't seen the L2 and L3 lines. So far from what I can tell this runs at a good speed, especially considering it spend a bit of time running through the centre of Parramatta. Obviously driving will be quicker but the whole purpose of public transport is to help people that can't drive get around and to give people options so that there are less cars on the road.

well done phil for uploading so quickly. really exciting times for sydney with so many new projects opening in succession.
Cheers! I almost didn’t get it uploaded in time as internet was slow for a bit but all went well :)
So much happening and so much to come :)
Good stuff Phil! - I was on the service in front of you from Carlo to Westmead. That right turn from Rosehill Gardens towards the bridge certainly grabs your attention...
What do you think of the line? :)
Oh yes that was rough 🤣🤣🤣
The driver looked surprised by it 😮

@sydneytrainsvlogs agreed, I like it when any Sydney trains projects open, eg the l4, metro etc
Just over 30 minutes to Carlingford from Westmead, that's pretty darn good!
It’s so much quicker than when Sydney Trains ran the T6 line haha it’d take forever to get to Parramatta
Looks fantastic hopefully get to go on soon at some point

Hooray! L4 is Open!
It’s so great to see it open!
ooh glad to finally see it open was enjoying the previews of the line 😊
It’s a great and much needed line for the area :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs Indeed! the people of Parramatta will benefit a lot from this line
Agreed!
It’s so much easier to get out of Carlingford too :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs ikr this was definitely worth the conversion 😄
Very much agreed! :)
Watching your vid now!
This is fantastic
Agreed! :)
Nice video phil
Cool. Nice to see the trees along Church St growing along
Cheers :)
Yes it looks amazing doesn’t it? :)
I’ll try it out soon!
Awesome :)

Thanking you! :)
Yes Dundas is also my favourite because of the old station building
Good trip Phil Nice to see the L4 open
super glad to finally see this line opened :D
Likewise! :)

@sydneytrainsvlogs thanks, I'll edit & post my terrible video abt the trip from westmead to carlingford later today or tmr
Your video will be cool :)
@ thanks!
Now THIS is a Carlingford Line.

Lezzzz goooo finally after all this time.
I went on it today aswell Phil, the tram I went on was 2169
Nice! The one that i first went on was 2162 :)
@ nice!
I was there
might go on this in january when im in sydney
Sounds good mate! :)
@ might probably jump on at westmead
Me too
Westmead is a good place to start :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs I agreed 🤝
in some light rails you need to tap again for the return trip.
Yes you do :)
Phil, you should do a coffee stop/shop tour of each of the 16 stations, just to let us country folk know what’s around 😀👍
0:42 I was around (but not at) that bus stop
I'm kind of watching this vid right now, but I'll watch it later when I can listen with audio
That’s cool, i hope you enjoy the video :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogsI'm sure I will as you make great railway related content
What station on the light rail line started the old T6 line?
Carlingford all the way to Rosehill Gardens is part of the old T6 :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogsOK thanks Phil and I'll be sure to enjoy this video
I saw you on the tram but i was too shy
Awww that’s ok, come and say hi next time you see me 😊
It obviously use 750 v overhead and batters when no overhead, does it use any aps as does the trams from Town Hall to Circular Quay.

Wtf?? Wasn't it delayed till like next year yesterday??
That’s what we were lead to believe by the news but that made it much more dramatic than it actually was

Should have built the light rail like the ones we have on the L2 and L3 lines. These tiny light rail will too easily reach capacity
No. The length of the l2 and l3 makes them unbearably slow. Best to just increase frequencies.
@shaungordon9737 you don't need double back trams until required.

Slow, sluggish, frustrating not impressed. Driving is faster.
