  • This is an initial look at LG's new QNED TV just released in the U.S. This is the 75" model. I've had it for a few weeks now. I apologize in advance as this is filmed in FHD not UHD, so it won't show as UHD. I will be posting a few additional clips and will record at UHD. I only have a phone for recording equipment, and this phone was new to me, and I was stupid enough not to look at the settings and realize I could have shot at 4K to at least showcase the picture quality a little better.
Here is some clips shot at 4K to correct my oversight to give you a better look at the picture quality:
    • 4K clips from the LG 7...
I am not a professional (duh), nor do I have a good setup like other more seasoned reviewers. Please be kind, I tried. I'm not even good at unboxing videos. 😂
I did receive this TV at a discount for my review. The written review is below in the comments. It's short because I was limited to 2,500 characters for the review. As mentioned at the end of this video, please do not hesitate to ask me any questions or to look at some more details of the TV for you.

Here is the review I posted, limited by number of characters:
I received this LG TV at a discount in exchange for my honest review. I am stepping up from a 60” LED TV, therefore I can say the LG is huge in comparison. The focus of my review is from movies and UA-cam, the two things I’ll be doing most with the TV. I have gaming reserved for a lesser TV in the basement. I was able to unpack and setup the TV myself except for placing it on the stand for which I needed assistance. I suggest unpacking with at least 2 people to mitigate risk of damage. The included Magic Remote is a nice touch. It includes voice control and an air mouse for TV navigation.
Here are the parameters for my testing. I watched two movies, (movie #1) Captain Marvel (Disney+ app) and (movie #2) The Tomorrow War (Prime Video app). I also streamed various UA-cam items. It has one of the better TV speakers I have heard, if not the best, but I use external audio. I am not analyzing the specs as compared to other products on the market. This is strictly about this TV in my home and how I rate it. For my use, the TV has one function, and that is to provide a clear enjoyable watching experience. My setup has me sitting about 10 feet from the TV. This layout plus the TV’s size was the first in-home almost movie experience (screen size) I’ve ever owned. I cannot stare at one spot on this TV and just move my eyes as I’ve done up until now. I need to work the neck/eye muscles to glance left/right. I watched some sports, the news, and a few TV shows on Fios One. I was looking for pixilation but didn’t notice any. The motion was smooth, and the colors for an LED were excellent. Then I spent two evenings doing the thing I do most, and that is watch movies. I watched movie #1, a movie I have seen countless times on various TV’s. Compared to all previous views, it was breathtaking. The clarity down to the detail was amazing. I saw things I had not seen before. There was no delay or blips. The entire movie was smooth to the eyes. Then I watched movie #2 for the first time. I focused in on the blacks which I did not do previously in addition to the color and motion. They were, well, black. I saw no light bleeds anywhere, and those blacks jumped out. There was one instance where there appeared to be shadowing on the four corners. Only once, so not sure if source or not.
This came bundled with the LG SP9YA Soundbar. Connecting it to the TV was simple through HDMI Arc, and I was good to go with a perfect match. This is an awesome and beautiful LCD TV

So how it is in comparison to the QN90A with blooming and black levels. It is an IPS panel after all.

@@loki76I am not an expert on blooming and I prefer Vivid Mode. I watched the 8K videos LG Global put out on UA-cam to show off the Colors of this QNED TV. And I saw super brightness against the blackest black I have seen. It just Popped! I feel this TV gets Blacker and has much Brighter Highlights and Brightness overall. The Processing and Picture is just so Detailed and Crisp and Clear. This is my first experience with 8K and It is Unbelievable! So much more than I imagined. And I mean just 4K upscaled to 8K by this TV's Processing. Playing Halo Master Chief on Series X was Out of this World Beautiful! And you can see the Faces and Expressions of the Enemies like never before. It is a whole new experience and so Fun and Funny, LoL. It is an IPS Panel but LG tweeked it and added an extra layer along with all the MiniLed's and Dimming Zones, LG created a Master Piece! That is how they achieve such Deep Dark Blacks!

@@DontBeAWhoreAnymoreJesusIsHere Sounds promising. I guess I will see what all the reviewers come up with and testing. I personally would go with the 4K version. Don't know how well it would stack up. But apparently the 8K version doesn't have VRR for gaming.

@@loki76 There is No FreeSync or G-Sync. I have been testing out all my games on my Series X and PC RTX 3090 card and Playing 4K 120p or 8K 60p on PC or XBOX, is the smoothers Gaming I have ever experienced! Truly so far it seems this TV does not even need VRR. Perhaps the A9 Gen4 8K Processor is so Advanced it makes everything Smooth as Butter. And I notice no lagging at all. Gaming is next level on this TV and GameBar is still Useful! The 4K version may not get as bright or have as many dimming zones and only has an A7 Gen4 Processor, but I would Imagine it will still be the Best Gaming LED 4K TV and better than the QN90A just because LG has better Processing and Gaming Settings.

This TV continues to impress. I recently got a 65"LG B1 OLED, and the QNED is simply more vibrant. 4K content is striking. Watching the ALCS in 4K has been awesome.

Heeeeey! Glad I finally got to see your review! Not bad, bud! The only suggestion I have is do NOT zoom in with your phone, film in 4k at it's normal width. When you zoom in the resolution gets real bad.
The TV looks AWESOME 😎 very promising!!! I didn't notice any dark corners, so no worries, probably just FiOS. The rest looked great and wow colors popped! My only question that I can't tell about is shadow detail and how a dark scene like in Game of Thrones might look, the night battle etc... That will really put it to the test. Happy for you man, thanks for sharing

@@mmcpa The dirty screen test you have already done, with the very contrasting videos of objects on a black background.
But it would be more noticeable when the viewing room is in complete darkness with no light source.
By playing with the backlight it is possible to limit the dirty effect.
It's probably more visible when Local Dimming is off, but I think the dirty effect is especially true on EDGE LED.

Too bad you didn't film in 4K and zoomed out a bit. But beggars can't be choosers. So it's good there is at least something to see.

I've been so busy I never got back to this. With more watching here is a little update:
I recently got a 75" Samsung The Terrae so I was dealing with that. Future video coming. Also I have a 65" LG OLED coming soon, but I honestly have never really watched an OLED before. But let's get back to the QNED99.
I truly love this TV. No it's not perfect. There is some blooming at times depending on the lighting and quality of what I'm watching. But there was one instance where something jumped out at me. I was watching Edge of Tomorrow (Tom Cruise movie). The source wasn't the best. If you know that movie, near the end Tom and Emily Blunt are in a dark scene about to take care of business. I will say in this one scene the TV was a tad wacky. There were several times where not all of the scene was visible. Being so dark with a less than stellar source, the TV would try to focus around their faces, but basically blacked out almost everything else, and I mean blacked out. Was weird TBH.
Last night I watched the Bucs/Cowboy game, my first full sporting event I've had time to watch. It was through my Fios One box. I was very impressed watching the game. I didn't notice any motion blur. If it was there it didn't catch my eye. The colors were so natural. It really is a seriously good TV. It's currently on sale on LG's website for $3,499.99 from $4,799.99 unless this is a price drop currently masked by a sales price. Same price at Best Buy.
I can't sit here and say because of some more affordable OLED options that you should go in that direction versus the mini LED. One thing I will say is this TV has great viewing angles and from what I've read OLED isn't the greatest with angles. This TV should take serious consideration if you're looking for a 75".

Too bad it uses an IPS LCD with very low native contrast. If it was a VA panel this might have been the best LCD this year with that huge zone count

    • @mmcpa
      @mmcpa  2 роки тому

I'm guessing LG didn't want to infringe on their OLED lineup. Personally I think the combo of a wider range of view along with the contrast approaching OLED makes this a great IPS panel. Also, my mistake zooming in when filming.
