Okay, but why are the skips enabled by the ocarina glitch not being referred to as Ocarina of Time-saves?

The pedantic reason is probably because its the ocarina of wind and not time, but yeah thatd be a funny name for them
@@hankhill6404the purpose of the Ocarina of Wind is its ability of fast travel, the Ocarina of Time also has this ability... they could be the same ocarina.
@@elio7610 the ocarina of wind only summons a lil guy. The ocarina of time does more than just fast travel. Its like comparing a rotary phone to a smart phone.

Edit: So I found out that Audacity was set to input audio at 66% of the volume for some reason, so that's why my voice was really low here. I also figured out how to EQ the mids at my speaking level, so I'll be fixing that for the next vid
Hey all, I know there's some issues with the audio. I'm in a new house and am trying to adjust my microphone levels accordingly, unfortunately balancing that with the music is weird, especially since my editing software tends to make some of the music I'm using not seem as loud as it actually is.
I can't fix it this time around, but we'll hone it in with the next video. Thanks for understanding

I notice without Loudness Equalization on, it isn't as bad.

I suggest trying Reaper rather than Audacity.
Even a free service like BandLab is going to be better than Audacity in my experience.

We just found another 1 min timesaver, its a deathless version of Octo Clip that is a bit easier and much faster to retry. Because its deathless we can skip the extra bottle which is what saves the minute :D
I remember reading the Guinness Gamer records book in like 2009 and being amazed that my childhood game was beaten start to finish in about three hours at the time.
Also, 1:45 "the blacksmith Link is staying with" is his GRANDFATHER. Like Yugi Muto getting upset because they stole "his card dealer's" prized card (and soul).

Why does it feel like in every zelda game with an ocarina, theres always some major glitch involving it?

Well... Technically that is kinda possible but, instead, for 100% there is an entire 40 min Figurine manip to get all the figurines with the collected shells during the run.
I love games about being tiny, they're so nice and cozy!
(It's weird that it seems so cozy to be small in games but IRL being small is way more terrifying than being big)

Dude this is so nostalgic, Minish Cap was the first Zelda I beat and it's so underrated.
I think the best part of speedrunning isn't the fast play, or even the execution. For me, it's glitch discovery. Finding out new ways to interact with games is so gratifying, even if I can't execute them :^)

underrated by who??? i always read praise of this game whenever it is mentioned, so i dont understand why some people claim it is underrated
@@raafmaatRight? I’m so tired of that word. It’s a good game, is that not enough? Do we have to make it a pissing contest or project our desire to be the underdog onto every little thing we love?
People are so scared to like popular things that if they actually like something popular, they’ll just.. pretend it isn’t popular. I mean, the same thing is happening with Twilight Princess, arguably the most popular Zelda game ever. Somehow it’s “underrated” despite every other GameFaqs and r/Zelda post being “Twilight Princess is underrated” because they weren’t alive when it was recent and BotW/TotK is simply what they’re most aware of because it’s all they’ve been around for. Even now, though, people will not shut up about it.
It’s not a bad game, although it’s definitely the first sign of a problem with Zelda and the formula getting stale, but it’s *not* underrated. Or overrated. Neither of those words mean anything anymore, if they did in the first place. It’s purely a fan pride thing and it needs to go away.
@@RenSakoI mean, honestly? Maybe this is anecdotal at best, but at least in my circle of friends, most of the people have heard about Minish Cap, but either have not played it yet, or haven't gotten very far. So it can very easily create the impression that something is underrated by that measure.
Is it actually underrated? I wouldn't know, nor would I care. But it would be easy enough to form that opinion with both Minish Cap and the Oracle games for me.

this was my 1st & it was so good, i became so excited 4 the other 2d zeldas, not realising this was peak. (except 4 spirit tracks, which was my 2nd). my 1st zelda games remain my fav.

If I had time for the hobby, I know I would be way more interested in glitch hunting and breaking games than I would be in speedrunning. I break stuff all the time accidentally in games by just being indecisive and then ending up trying to do two things at the same time, etc.

I used to race with MBRules. It was an awesome time.
A few years ago, i discovered a glitch using Jump Hack, where you can make Zelda follow you forever through the entire game til the end, does nothing beside that, but i found it cute

the ocarina messes with time even in a game that it is not supposed to.
The only glitch I remember was the stupid figurines minigame, where I got stuck with literally no chance to get the missing ones I needed for the full 100% completion, which locked me out of a piece of heart, and the sound test.
All thanks to that one figurine locked out from me with an odd of 0% to be pulled out with only a single mysterious shell.
Thats not a glitch, you were missing a flag to make the last figurine(s) available. If you haven't got all 136 figurines then you can continue to play the figurine game, but it will only let you win figurines for things you've encountered in the game so far, for example you can only get vaati figurines after you beat the game. It was showing 0% becuase there were no more figurines unlocked that were available to win, the one you were missing is likely to be the hermit on mt crenel as this is commonly missed, going to the cave with the hermit at the peak of mt crenel is all you need to do to set this flag and the game will be able to be beaten.
Completing the figurine game rewards you with the carlov medal and shells will no longer be optainable in the game. Go and talk to the guy sat outside the café and he will open the music house where you can get your last HP.
Yes this is absolutely the worst HP in any zelda game, and absolutely terrible game design.

No I think you don't get the situation.
I literally was locked out of completing the figurine collection because the game assumed I got everything, making the odd a 0% with only 1 shell, I could no longer put more to pull out the missing figurine.
I never understood why this happened, I had everything but 1 figurine missing due to this glitch.
I was actually playing with lowest and lowest odds on purpose to save on the shells, which is how the glitch happened in the first place, by dropping what was considered to be the last figurine out of the bunch, despite the fact that I had not everything up to that point.
I don't know if this was ever documented somewhere or if I was just really unlucky back then, it has been over 10 years at this point, and I no longer have the original cartridge that had the soft locked save game slot.
@@VinsCool Either you probably were able to get the percentage higher just using more figurines or you hadn't yet beaten the game, which unlocks some figurines. A glitch that locked you out of getting figurines just by continually playing the game would be known, I assume you were younger 10 years ago and there was less access to resources about the game, but I can almost assure you this was not a glitch

My favorite Zelda and the only one I 100% despite the PAL glitch, then I checked glitches and discovered a world of wonders!
I LOVE the music, but I think you upped the music balance. Makes it harder to hear what you're saying. Other than that great vid as always.
Edit: seems to be only for the first part where you have the Legend Of Dragoon palace music playing.
Appreciate the feedback. I keep trying to find a good balance of where you all can hear the music but also being loud enough to overpower it.
The problem lies with the original mixing of the tracks and their levels not being the same even though my editing software shows they are. I even went back a few times to lower the audio in some spots, but I guess I missed the LoD track haha

I discovered your channel recently and i've been enjoying the videos mostly but one thing i notice is i get the feeling that you are reading the text too much and with a monotone voice(felt it more on the explaining the story of the game but even on the rest a bit). I know you need to read a text for these types of video but i think the way you did it made me feel a bit weird it felt more like you were reading explanations rather than explaining if that makes sense ?. The content is great tho and its obvious you worked hard for that vid.

I still don't understand the issue with "spliced runs". It's fine if you want to make a separate category for them and linear runs, but why do so many speed runners demand they be labeled "fake" or "illegitimate "?
The problem isn’t with the fact that they’re done, it’s just that they’re submitted under false pretenses. Otherwise I think most are fine with it overall

Then why did you label them as fake and illegitimate in this video? Why not state they just didn't qualify as a Linear run?
@@addambelmont3050 The run was submitted to SDA as a single segment run. The player in question spliced footage together, which would be fine if it were a segmented run, but the person didn't submit it as such and lied to the community about it
The community very much views that 2005 run as illegitimate, the runner claimed it was recorded in one sitting but after review its clear that can't be the case and is very much cut and dry deception. Now we just use this run as a reference for what was known at the time and a demonstration of the strats.
Plenty of discussion has been had about this but it comes down to everyone being on a level playing field, if everyone agrees to do things in one sitting but you splice your best segments together and lie about it then thats clearly unfair cheating. If everyone agrees to put their best segments together and be open about it then there would be no issue, the issue comes from the dishonesty. We don't call TASes fake, because they are upfront and clearly identify themselves.
