It’s still a lot of trust to place in what is essentially a politician with a badge. Forget trusting them to protect you, I’d be so tempted to just bury any home invader I engaged and never speak of it. Especially in a rural area. Just one bad person in the legal system can ruin your life.

    Excellent video!
Back a couple decades ago when I first got my CC permit, I thought I was a bad-ass, a quasi-super hero.. ready to defend against any bad guy threat. I was a young Army Soldier with all of a couple years under my belt. I figured I was prepared for anything.
Then, I attended one of Mas's LFI-1 classes.. and my eyes were opened wide! It finally dawned on me how badly wrong I was.. what an incorrect mind-set I had. I learned its FAR better, ( and cheaper! ) to AVOID the fight. Train and prepare for the fight, but do everything possible to avoid it unless there's no other choice.

      The police earned their reputation.

    • @giii7599
      @giii7599 3 роки тому

Law Enforcement isn't what it once was. The majority of law enforcement today cares nothing about the constitution. They take an oath to uphold the constitution. First thing they do is violate that oath. Police unions have voted democrat for years. They made their bed. It's hard to back the cops when they have help destroy the country by voting for democrats. They quickly changed their tune when their lively hoods and pension were threatened during the defund movement. They voted for Trump but the damage was already done. The calvary never came running. 99% of the time the cops show up AFTER the criminals have harmed someone. Bottom line is 90% of law enforcement can't be trusted. They will turn on the public in a New York second. Just look at them now throwing people out of restaurants in New York for not being vaccinated. Even though the NY Police union voted for Trump they will do whatever they are told by whoever is in charge. We are seeing it now. Todays law enforcement is not based around protecting or serving the people of this country. It's about protecting the their government enablers at any cost to the public.

You laid it on the line, brother. Each morning, when I wake up, I don my pants, shirt, socks and shoes and then place my favorite pistol and holster on my belt. More often than not my silent prayer is "Lord, keep me from situations where I am forced to use this thing. But, if it happens, Lord, grant me the presence of mind to remember my training, while You guide my hand." Mr. Hackathorn is 100% correct. One other gun channel preacher says it precisely: "Don't go stupid places, at stupid times, and do stupid things."

keep in mind, over there is about 12,000x worse than here. ppl doomsay a lot, especially because media makes everything seem horrible. most areas are fine, poverty stricken areas are BY FAR the ones with the most crime and even in places like chicago does it rarely leak into affluent areas (one singular shooting in lincoln park in chicago was enormous news in chicago) SA, as you know, is and has been in a state of collapse due to extraordinarily shitty government over many decades, along with generations of EXTREME racial tension and the fallout of apartheid.
america is nowhere near the situation SA is in and has been in, nor is it going in that direction. keep in mind ken is a former cop, he's gonna be pro-police and pro-police media biased; and i believe ken probably consumes more media than he's willing to admit (SOME form of news media at least, despite even accepting media is masters of perception). some places suck, some places are going crazy, sometimes there's protests; it's not like that in 99% of places, for 99%+ of the population.
cops are a hot topic point, but this uvalde shooting recently has been a big wakeup call in terms of this 'police are being forced to be too scared to do their job' thing (the police are undefendable and have began even the most pro-police ppl to somewhat begin to critically analyze police response.) police response times here have not changed dramatically for the most part but it depends on the city, in 2017 nationwide (before this widespread anti-police sentiment) the average police response was 10 minutes. 10 minutes! why even bother coming at all? everyone should have been carrying ages ago, relying on anyone at any time to protect you is a losing gambit. from 2010-2015 (long before this tension!) New Orleans police response times on avg went from 24 mins, to over 1 hour. not a joke, you can google this. 24 mins, which is already a death sentence to over 1 hour. brave heroes!
sorry this turned into a rant ken kinda annoyed me a lil, i don't want anyone from SA to believe here is anywhere near as bad. you people have it way worse and we are blessed to have the situation we have now (unfortunately, we also have our media making everyone seem like it's an active warzone)
als je begript nederlands, dingen zijn ok hier :D

I was recently in Chicago. Police no longer do traffic control. I saw, on Michigan Avenue, a vehicle stopped at a stop light burning rubber to such a degree that one could almost not see the vehicle. Hundreds of people were standing around the very popular tourist area.
When the light turned green the car peeled out at high speed.
The uniformed traffic control persons were unarmed but had radios. But none of them approached the vehicle or tried to get the driver to stop.
Not a big deal… but indicative of where we are today.

Responsible carry of a firearm requires a lot of mental work and the understanding that you endanger both yourself and your community in foregoing that work. I have carried for several decades, and I still maintain my ability to make fast decisions and react appropriately. Having to start from scratch in a crisis will surely work out poorly for someone. My decision making abilities have been tested a few times, and I thank God that my mind was in familiar territory each time.

Great advice. Just 2 nights ago while leaving a conviniece store , I had a drunken Mexican , pull up behind me blocking me in so his passenger could jump out , run in and do their transaction , without him having to pull in to a parking spot ( he even saw my reverse lights on) . Instead of blowing my horn or rolling down my window or saying anything , I just waited till he left. Was my blood boiling?? Hell yeah!!! That's exactly why I just said to myself, " it just ain't worth it".

I was raised as a Citizen not a private citizen; duty to live and serve the community and work hard for my people with high moral standards and to treat my country as my home. The new reality is a nightmare. I appreciate your words and message. It's unfortunate when children have to fear their own parents and cannot rely on them (metaphor) As a child I have always had to rely on myself even with my upbringing because of the change in society. And I know what it feels like to have people you care for and want to protect not trust you.

In the LTC class, the Instructer said "First things first, you need to be aware of your suroundings- if you think there's a chance of a fight... Get outta there. Avoidance is your first line of defense, you can't be attacked if you aren't there"

Spot on! I'm an old guy, too, and for many years I knew most of the police officers where I lived - some of them were even good friends; you could safely say that I'm "cop friendly". I've lived in this new area for ten years now, and the only time I've seen a cop out of his car is when he/she has a motorist pulled over. That's hardly a good time to make a new friend. Some of the people at my range may be cops, but I don't know them to be.
It's a two-sided sword. There may be times that I can be helpful to an officer, and in the past that happened several times; I was either a witness to wrongdoing, or I'd heard some street talk ... err, gossip ... that might lead an officer to clues, a suspect and/or an arrest. Several times a friend who was an officer asked me to keep an eye out for this or that, and to call him if I saw anything helpful. The police are losing all of that input from the public that could make their jobs safer and a little bit easier.

Well when do we stand up then,
when do we say enough is enough, when do you make a stand,
how do you make a stand...???
My wait and see attitude has been working so far but my patience grow thin thin thin......
Much like many many many other individuals. 🙏🏻
