Yes I agree. It's terrible, I hope it were to end or police would fine these people. It's ruining the tourism industry and all the kind people are paying the price.
Chris: Here are my tips for dealing with the touts. 1) Wear a headset and pretend you are on a call. 2) Speak to the tout in a language they do not know. I usually speak Thai in the middle east. 3) This is my favorite. Ask to borrow some money from them. I do have to remind myself how deep the poverty is for people to be so insistent. I am loving your Egypt series Chris!
Absolutely, but you always have to sit back and realize where you're at... I was in the middle of town in an African country that I know not a damn thing about minus my few days here... imagine talking 💩 to the wrong person and ending up in the river the next morning... that's reality
I lost my shit on a few of the merchants and on one buggy driver. They love to scam! I read up on Egypt on how to keep them from harassing you and some of the pointers actually worked. It is also helpful if you learn a few Arabic phrases how to tell them politely to leave you alone and if it doesn't work, how to really tell them off and they WILL leave you alone.
If you do that then it becomes a competition between them " I bet you can't get this foreigner to say something" What I use in these countries that drives them crazy I say "This item was made in China" Walk away and have the laugh on them IT WORKS,
@@RaymondMoore-c4g I’ll have to try that one next time! I would talk in pig-English or pretend I was on my phone talking to someone and they left me alone. So, that helped as well.

No body is more kind than you, I am really sorry for you facing this kind of bad situations, thank you man for your patience on us, you got my heart and I wish I could meet you some day. Best regards from Menoufia governorate, Egypt.
As an Egyptian-born Canadian, I feel absolutely ashamed to see these individuals representing Egypt and its nation. It is utterly preposterous that these local vendors assume every tourist is an naive newcomer to the country with sly smiles exploiting tourists’ lack of knowledge about local prices and taking advantage of any opportunity to make a profit through cunning tactics employed by some of them. These behavior should not be tolerated in this country. However, I strongly believe that Egypt is an extraordinary country with a rich culture, awe-inspiring history, and delightful weather. Chris, I would like to express my gratitude for your kind and patient.
The comportment of tourists is often responsible of that. I come as possible to Egypt from 1980, of course it changed a lot, and there are super basterds here anbd there, but globally it can be a very nice country...
If Egypt was a Christian country and not Islamic, it would not be in the poverty it’s in today. The Muslim culture allows for the fleecing of non Muslims.
Those guys disrespect us the Egyptians and our country Egypt alongside with disrespecting tourists. WE ARE SOO SORRY>>>> They do not represent 1% of us
I had anxiety for you, watching the harassment you had to endure after kindly saying no more than enough times. Its frustrating to watch knowing that you get so many amazing encounters with kind and generous people, this gets overshadowed by some of the bad experiences no matter where you travel in the world. Respect goes a long way! well done to you for keeping it calm and assertive, love watching your videos cant wait to see whats next in Egypt.
I love watching how you interact with these folks. Also, I really applaud you for how you remain so respectful in times where others may not be able to. This was another very entertaining video, Chris. Thanks!!

I wouldn’t even say a word to that guy. Keep it pushing. People like this just don’t get nothing from me. I respect the hustle but not when annoyance gets to you
My favorite moments from your street vendor/ shopping series is definitely the bargaining. When they know they are tryna swindle you and you hit them with the real price and everyone just laughs. That’s gold!
This is the only reason I don't like going to countries like this! They hound you and get very angry when you say no! I have to say you handled everything very patiently and even you knew that they were charging you more, you went along with it. Credit to you bro!
Seriously I'm watching these videos, and you really have the patience of a Saint because I would have flipped. im getting irritated just watching the behaviour.. I'm used to touts as I have travelled, but these people are so disrespectful. EGYPT is such a beautiful place, but watching how some of these people operate in your videos, I'm going to give eygpt a miss this year. Thanks again for the videos bro your a good guy and very respectful of peoples cultures👊🏿
It was very entertaining watching your interaction with the two shopkeepers. It was pretty fun. The only way that I think you could avoid being harassed for buggy rides, camel rides, tours, etc. is being on a tour but it does take away some of the fun when you want to be alone but in your other video you talked about how they were just trying to make a living and then you see what it’s like. Once you get a rest after rest after harassed gets old after a while quick even as patient as you are you got tired of it. I like your videos very much. I just wish for someone wanting to go over there that you would talk to little bit more about the logistics like how you got from point a to point B you start your day especially if you wanted to do a little bit of this on your own without the tour, the logistics is very useful, very helpful for someone wanting to navigate the tour on their own
After visiting Egypt, tourists would need another vacation just to recover from this 😢. Sad… a country with so much history is getting a bad name because of these touts and scammers and the officials are oblivious or don’t care.
This was nothing. A few years a go my wife and i went to Hurghada. The people there are very very respectless. Try to buy your wife for camels and that kind of stuff.
You keep your patience very well Chris! It becomes harassment after a while of them constantly following you and asking. I am sorry you had to deal with that!
I know it may seem rude given the fact these are economically depressed regions of the world. But harassing tourist when tourism is a major source of revenue is counterproductive. I generally say “no thanks” “no” and then ignore them - sadly. Starting up a conversation with a “hello” generally is construed as an invitation to solicit relentlessly. Egypt looks beautiful and is on list of places to go. On hold for now because of the political trouble in the region.
Very much respect for your patience. During a visit to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings, the keeper of the tombs made us jump over some fence to take a picture of us in the tomb, and then he asked for money for it, and when some tourists came by, he pretended to yell at us for breaking the rules. They are unbelievable. I come from Serbia, which is not a much richer country than Egypt, we are not the rich West... It's funny to me.
WOW! How awesome to be recognized from the 'internet"! I'm American living in Egypt for 5 yrs. Everyone knows when the cruise ships arrive and leave so he knows you were not saying the truth about the boat leaves at 7PM. 🤣No boat leaves Luxor in the night. Listen, you are THE MOST POSITIVE UA-camr I have viewed to cover Luxor and Egypt, which just speaks to you are a positive person and want to see the good in everything and everyone. Keep being you Chris! You're an amazing person. Traveling mercies and wonderful journeys. I've enjoyed watching every video of Egypt.

"whats he doing, fighting bad spirits" lol... Yo, I was waiting for one of those toddlers to roll up and ask for a 10 spot to take a power wheel tour around the park. I'll give you credit, you're trying so hard to share the positive vibes...
And one more thing Chris. Did you see how quickly the children backed off near the end of your video when you gave them a loud and firm no? This is how to deal with touts. In certain places of the world niceness is associated with weakness. Also be aware the touts would never behave this way with an Arab tourist. Arabs would never tolerate such behavior. You got to harden your heart. Great video Chris except for the touts.
Brother Chris- best advice I can give you regarding gifts and souvenirs to avoid the haggling and headfuck, just go into a their main supermarket - you’ll find it all there for a fraction of the price and it’s all price tagged.
There’s many around Egypt -Gomla Market, Fathalla, ragab & sons, Kher Zaman but specifically in Luxor I believe it’s Gomla Market in Television Street if not sure ask a local but just be cautious. Good luck 🤞🏻
First, Chris, you are very patient, congratulations! Egypt can be a real nice experience, depending on where you go and how you behave. It use to be agreable in the pure local places, in remote areas where the tourists never go. But of course it can take time to be accepted and it doesn't fit with a tourist program. taking enough time is the key. Bettrer go slowly and taste one area, and come back later as possible to see other places. The real backpackers life is disappearing, the "bourgeois" take all the place... Remember cameras and photos non stop is not ageable for people in most countries. Better stay simple, it will open all the doors. In fact it kills the real contact. I tell you that, I travelled all my life with low budget.
Another great video. As someone interested in traveling to the area, but with less charisma points than you, I wonder if there is a more effective way of saying “no”. What a beautiful part of the world. The Nile cruise situation was especislly fortuitous, bro!!!
Love your video, I recently visited a nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor. What I do recommend is getting a tour guide to help you out because these hustlers will usually not approach you when you have a good and honest local guide. If you don't have one then all you gotta do is reject them, no is no! (That's what I learned from living in cairo as a german and thai person 😅)
Dear Valued sir, Thank you for taking the time in my country. We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate your honesty in highlighting the negative aspects of your visit. i wish finish about this problems in my country for your happy feel
I love the barging in the market and the show they'll put on. From Marocco to Indonesia, it's all the same fun game. If they ask you 100 tell them you have 50 or less. They will let you go. You can always go to a resort if you don't like the locals. Much love and blessings from the Netherlands🖐🏾
He bought a gift for 180 and he know it is only worth 60 pounds and I'm sure it is only for 30 pounds or less He only did this to make their day Chris you are a very kind man ❤
A FIRM no (with a smile of course) is needed. Saying “thank you, that’s ok” will prompt them to continue engaging. “NO!” And then you HAVE to stop speaking to them. Period. Don’t give into your urge to speak after that. At all! Then they will give up. Albeit not immediately. But way sooner than when they don’t hear “NO!”
This dude Chris has such a good attitude, he keeps his cool even when he’s subjected to the salesman and merchants of the bazaar. For this reason alone, I avoid Egypt but I feel bad for the people there
As Egyptians, we suffer from such problems. We are sorry for what happened to you. It is something that happens to all tourists, but what I liked about you is that you were not discouraged. You are one of the educated and intelligent tourists. We hope to see you in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
Always wanted to visit Egypt one day, it was on my bucket list but after seeing this video I have changed my mind. I can feel the bad energy/vibe from the screen.
Man the more videos I watch of people travelling countries like this, the more I realize I would probably end up getting in trouble lol. I don't think I could keep my composure like you when being harassed to spend money. I get that they are probably struggling to make a living but holy hell, take no for an answer! 🤣
@atimos187 - ....but that's the very reason that they *do* keep hassling! Even speaking to them at all just emboldens them, let alone encouraging them more by being polite and saying "thank you" incessantly! Chris will be learning before the end of his visit that such a response just does not work and is counter-productive! We have all fallen into this trap when first visiting a country like Egypt. I have to admit to cringing when watching Chris dealing with the photographer and the stallholder for example... Sorry! I have visited Egypt many times and I have local friends in Luxor. They agree with me that tourists will only buy what they want to buy - they will not be brow-beaten into submission by touts such as the caleche drivers. (Horse-drawn carriages here are known universally as caleches). By the way, the "Reckless" top was possibly tempting fate?!! 😀
Chris one thing i would advise you on is get one of those Jalabayas. It's the robe that the men are wearing casually. Get a high quality one. Super comfortable man. Egyptian cotton. Lay off the cheap mass produced ancient Egyptian relics lol.
Thanks for showing this vieo. Well done and I have been to Egypt. Yes, the horse and carriage drivers are very annoying. My private Egyptian guide said that they give Egypt a bad name and also the paid government workers inside the temples who want to show the hot spots for photography are working looking for tips.
Been wanted to visit Egypt for years but the touts definitely put me off. How many times do you need to say no thank you. Enough is enough. A shame because it looks an Amazing place to visit.
As Egyptians, we are exposed to these people and we get annoyed just like you, but we do not respond to them at all, whether with a thank you or any other word we do. We do not take care of them, so they easily distance themselves from you. I hope everyone knows this and will not suffer or be upset anymore.
At the end of the day, they literally lose their word over $1... and all the people who will see this to include Im sure the tourist police... karma is real 😅
Have a nice time Chris, try to spend more time in New Cairo you'll definitely like to try some of the cafes and restaurants there in the open mall area of Madinty or eastern Souq of Rehab.
I think u should say no instead of thank you, I know u r being polite but I think they might get the message a bit faster even though I know they r persistent
Did you even manage to catch your breath at any point without saying a word 😂😂😂 - just avoid responding they soon back off. Take it from a guy who’s been in Egypt over 2years! Trust me
Let's hope that one day they actually do something about the touts or else I agree people will in fact stop coming to Egypt sadly.

In certain places of the world niceness is associated with weakness. Also be aware the touts would never behave this way with an Arab tourist. Arabs would never tolerate such behavior. You got to harden your heart. Great video Chris except for the touts.
But you are a foreigner. You are just money in these touristic areas.
Brother Chris- best advice I can give you regarding gifts and souvenirs to avoid the haggling and headfuck, just go into a their main supermarket - you’ll find it all there for a fraction of the price and it’s all price tagged.
What's their main supermarket?
There’s many around Egypt -Gomla Market, Fathalla, ragab & sons, Kher Zaman but specifically in Luxor I believe it’s Gomla Market in Television Street if not sure ask a local but just be cautious. Good luck 🤞🏻
Couple of mainstream supermarkets you’ll find around Cairo or Alexandria (if you go)- Spinneys & Carrefour 🤙
Speak in a made up language 😂
Ignore them
Love your video, I recently visited a nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor. What I do recommend is getting a tour guide to help you out because these hustlers will usually not approach you when you have a good and honest local guide. If you don't have one then all you gotta do is reject them, no is no! (That's what I learned from living in cairo as a german and thai person 😅)
What about "They are not scammers, they just hard work"? 😂😂😂😂😂
I hope that someone can reach to the guy that took the photos and never sent them to you. That’s straight up fucked up
Rizzy gonna Rizzy
Do visit the citadel and al-Azhar Park in Cairo! Zamalek has a couple of museums, the Cairo Marriott Hotel and the garden are also worth a visit.
U deal with these guys so well Chris much respect ❤ I’m not sure I could handle being harassed constantly
Most repeated words when visiting Egypt - la shukran
DON,T SAY A WORD TO THEM.
Dear Valued sir, Thank you for taking the time in my country. We sincerely apologize that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we appreciate your honesty in highlighting the negative aspects of your visit. i wish finish about this problems in my country for your happy feel
The only way for a tourist is if you want people to not bother you when they ask you where you are from, so tell them I am from Israel.
Thanks for watching!
You are very patient Chris. I could not visit this country after seeing how the they harass you. They are ruining the tourist trade.
I agree with some of the comments too about how they just hound you, you hold yourself very well Chris.😁💪❤️🙏 Just great stuff.
Thank you brother Chris!
He bought a gift for 180 and he know it is only worth 60 pounds and I'm sure it is only for 30 pounds or less
He only did this to make their day
Chris you are a very kind man ❤
180 זה פחות מ 4 דולר...מי ישמע איזה אדיב
A FIRM no (with a smile of course) is needed. Saying “thank you, that’s ok” will prompt them to continue engaging.
“NO!” And then you HAVE to stop speaking to them. Period. Don’t give into your urge to speak after that. At all!
Then they will give up. Albeit not immediately. But way sooner than when they don’t hear “NO!”
😂
Chris 12:42 😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you Thank you.
You know Chris you can make a brand name Thank you Tank you. I will be the first one who buys the T-Shirt
This is why tour guides are a necessity. As a woman, I wouldn't tour there without a guide with me the whole time.
انهم سيائين انهم يأخذونها تجاره افضل أن تذهب المقهيلشباب متعلم وتعرض عليه 100او 200جنيه ليوم وسيقبل لأرشادك يوم كامل
This dude Chris has such a good attitude, he keeps his cool even when he’s subjected to the salesman and merchants of the bazaar. For this reason alone, I avoid Egypt but I feel bad for the people there
The temple inside is so much more spectacular that outside you really missed visiting a very special place I’ve been inside 3times this week
I will be returning again soon!
As Egyptians, we suffer from such problems. We are sorry for what happened to you. It is something that happens to all tourists, but what I liked about you is that you were not discouraged. You are one of the educated and intelligent tourists. We hope to see you in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.
these poor horses you can see they have totally shut down poor things
Mr. Chris:Welcome to Luxor, Egypt this weekend to visits these amazing temples in January of 2024❤❤❤I wish you safe journeys always in peace 2024❤❤❤
Always wanted to visit Egypt one day, it was on my bucket list but after seeing this video I have changed my mind. I can feel the bad energy/vibe from the screen.
Great content my friend ! you have some a great patience ;) I think my brain has already given up after 10 people. .
Luxor temple has had a lot of reconstruction over the decades
Just subbed, because sir you have the patience that I will never have. Stay classy braddah , aloha from the 808.
Man the more videos I watch of people travelling countries like this, the more I realize I would probably end up getting in trouble lol. I don't think I could keep my composure like you when being harassed to spend money. I get that they are probably struggling to make a living but holy hell, take no for an answer! 🤣
That sunset is awe inspiring. My plan is to come to Egypt in early 2025.
Same, wish me luck, where U from am going from the uk
Another beautiful video but some people local people need some Manners thanks for sharing Chris 👍
Great video but so annoying that you say I'm ok thank you and they keep on going....... ✌🏽🇦🇺
You are so patient!!! 😮😮😮
Im a new subscriber. I like your videos. Great job. Greetings from Oceanside California 🤙
When refusing you should say no, not thank you and ill think about... Straight forward is always best even respectfully....
Traveling Mercy you stay safe I definitely don't want to get off the boat there
39:08 "uncle & nephew" yeah right ! Hahahahahaha
You had me laughing when you told those vendors what kind of dog you have hahaha! The way you crack up hahahah!
Respect from El monte , Ca❤, love your patience. I would have just ignored them😊
thanks for watching!
Chris do the balloon ride in Luxor. Is amazing!
I would've done it, but the weather didn't allow the following morning!
Yea try that it is amazing
@@TravelwithchrisI am looking forward to a hot air balloon 🎈 when I go
Chris one thing i would advise you on is get one of those Jalabayas.
You have the patience of a Saint! I’m from NYC After awhile I can’t take it. 😮
For photo shooting, never pay before receiving the photos...
At the end of the day, they literally lose their word over $1... and all the people who will see this to include Im sure the tourist police... karma is real 😅
Man you have patience I'd lose it
Have a nice time Chris, try to spend more time in New Cairo you'll definitely like to try some of the cafes and restaurants there in the open mall area of Madinty or eastern Souq of Rehab.
I been to Egypt 3 times... I find it best to go with a tour guide... the best experience I had was with tour guides 🤔...
omgggg that's so muchhh !!! im exhausted of just watching the video !!!
You have a lot of patience Chris ❤ I think I would end up going crazy 😂with those people that just won’t take no for an answer 😅
I think u should say no instead of thank you, I know u r being polite but I think they might get the message a bit faster even though I know they r persistent
@iluvcookies6380 - You're right. Saying 'thank you' incessantly just spurs them on.
They think it means... try again!
Did you even manage to catch your breath at any point without saying a word 😂😂😂 - just avoid responding they soon back off. Take it from a guy who’s been in Egypt over 2years! Trust me
Laughing all the way through. Bringing back memories.
Keep up the great content Bro Chris definitely amazing city😊
