Thank you! Great job! A friend recently passed away and her husband sent her jewelry to me asking that I get rid of the pieces not worth anything. Your video is very helpful! Thank you.
Excellent! If you haven't watched it you may want to watch my somewhat excessively long video on Gold: ua-cam.com/video/3l2BLhB_2ag/v-deo.html No youtube video can be perfect to teach someone everything about identifying jewelry, but there are so many little details that you can learn to pick up on that can help you immensely.
I think the little one is hungry lol great advice on the stones though, my late Dad left a lot of jewellery and was sorting through over Xmas and will look at them again after this.
I'm sorry to hear about your Dad, I sure hope something in some of my videos help. It's a bit long but my Gold video may be of value too. Silver is moderately valuable, but Gold is so sky high it's well worth making sure we know what we have there: ua-cam.com/video/3l2BLhB_2ag/v-deo.html And I made one on figuring out how much it is worth if you melt it down: ua-cam.com/video/JaGPR0j38AY/v-deo.html So you know sort of a floor value on the gold.
David Yurman used florescent diamonds in his nightclub line...well marketed on silver with the brand the price should have been on gold and with bigger diamonds lol i was laughing when I saw it.
When I first found out about fluorescent diamonds, I plot it out one of the things I wanna make if I ever actually do start making jewelry; sort out the small diamonds by their fluorescent level and use it to spell out a message in a bracelet
Get yourself a refractometer and you can be certain with identifying gems that are emeralds, rubies, sapphires and below. P.S. diamonds are too high on the mohs scale to test with this machine.
Quality fake, CZ or Moissanite diamonds can fool most cheap diamond testers. Not all of them but "quality" fakes. An easy way to spot a diamond is use a loupe. Look inside the Diamonds for flaws, small black carbon spots and or imperfections in the stones. A large percentage of diamonds are flawed. If a stone is not flawed then its very rare and very valuable or.... Its fake. (If you have a flawless diamond in 10k it doesn't add up and I would presume a quality fake or grandma's stones reset into something else.) Just sharing what I know.
@@CrowDragonPirate I'm actually surprised your machine doesn't read Moissanite. So it could fool your machine, but I can't say for sure cause idk but its possible. You can take your diamonds to a higher end diamond store and they should be able to do a better test. If they pull out a cheap $20 or $200 diamond tester, then its not really any better. However if they have a real gemologist machine they can tell for sure.
Thank you for this informative video!

Excellent! Thank you so much! Appreciate the knowledge you share. I never knew a gem meter was ever even invented. Best wishes from Chicago.
Thanks. I learned some things by watching this video and I have to say that statement is true of all your videos!!
I really appreciate the kind words!
Thanks for the nice example of simular rings having CZ vs diamond. I'll have to keep an eye out for these tips.
Very enjoyable as usual...❤
Great video keep them coming I learn so much many thanks!!!

It's much appreciated! Do you know if a Moissanite would fool my particular machine? It seems to ID the CZs ok...

I hope my wife doesn't watch this, I would hate for her to find out about her engagement ring.
You Are Doomed.
