Very informative video. I personally found myself favoring brass over copper because the patina/tarnish would buildup the more I handled the zippo. Copper seemed to have an effect where the more you hold it, the green patina would get rubbed off and it’ll go back to being pink.
Yeah I know what u mean. The brass does that too though if u use it everyday it just won’t turn black. Still dulls but doesnt turn black. Your wiping it basically. Same as the copper.

I Love the way tarnished brass looks. I laid my new armor next to my 2011, which was next to my 96 and all I can say is...the more tarnished the better. Well loved and used lighters.

Cool, I have an old pure brass tarnished one with spots of black like a painting…. Salt and vinegar will shine it nicely, but it started to tarnish again which is cool.
Yeah if u want it to shiny u need some mineral oil every couple weeks. Or clear coat it. I prefer the tarnished look though

What is a good grade of polish or sand cloth for polishing zippos? Is there some kind of rating system for the abrasives?

Might be a dumb question, but have you noticed a difference between polished, brushed, or tumbled brass once tarnished. Do they all end up the same? Do you prefer one of the others?
No they do not end up the same. The brushed and tumbled will always have those marks. I always get high polish over any other finish. Looks way better when tarnished also. Because it will do it evenly on the surface. And actually hides fine scratches.

@@Markonacr250r haha. By the way I did get the image. Honda racing I could do. But the woody woodpecker is to long I could only do his face and part of the flag. Or have it going the length of the of the zippo instead of across.
@@Markonacr250r also putting it on copper I would have to nickel plate the image on. I’m not sure how that would turn out. My nickel is tainted has impurities in it. Would have to make a new batch. Don’t know if I would want to do a copper to be honest. Just don’t want to screw up is the reason.

@@XCELERATIONRULES no it’s not any harder. But the armor is a deep carve on one side. There’s only one side available to customize. It would come out like my armor custom rose gold. Have u seen it ?
