Honestly I prefer the patina of an old lighter and would have just fixed the hinge and replaced the consumables instead. But you did clean it up nicely. 👍
Brass can turn a copper color due to a chemical process called dezincification, which occurs when the zinc leaches out of the brass leaving behind just the copper (brass is made up of copper and zinc). So if you have copper “stains” you won’t be able to get them out because the integrity of the brass is lost.
I love that dull yellow brass, can we get rid of the verdigris without losing the dull yellow, I love it when they grow brown too like my brass pen body.
Vinegar soak then straight to dawn dish soap with a toothbrush after use q tips to dry some. That's how I've done it for years now. Now can you guess who I am Jon. 😂
Do you love the sound of a Zippo?
PSA: This is a basic cleaning of a tarnished brass Zippo that was requested by a friend.
Good ol' Rem Oil works for everything

Any tip to remove (if possible) copper stains?

I found that once you start polishing, my OCD says I got to polish the rest.
How long do you put in vinegar for?
As long as it needs to be soaked, but maybe not longer than 12 hours…. Vinegar could rust it fast.

Yup best way to do it, Adam L 😉
Long time no see!
@@JRO_Lights I just use the sink after vinegar and don't do any soaking with the soap is all lol
So it's you sea pickle!
Ahoy there matey.
@@JRO_Lights wrong.
You're low class.
Reasonable men just retire these things after a short while.
They don't last forever.
No sense in going backwards in life.
Im out of car polish, toothpaste really works ??
It can however some toothpaste has course grains in it and can cause fine line scratching
How can that old spring be like that ?
Heavily used, built up tension, lots of hard flint wheel strikes. Not very common but I’ve seen some worn out springs.
Nice Review brother.. awesome works
I subscribed. Thanks for considering back Zippo Lover's
Thank you!
You're most Welcome Sir
cool. I love doing this.
No you don't.
These lighters are so powerful that they scare off foxes in the earth's shadow time.
You can't even pack a zippo lighter with cotton.
I use toothpaste
That’s one way to do it too. A lot of collectors use tooth paste. 👍
I support the factory production and just buy more and retire the worn lighters.
@@Gma7788 I can see why because you have no idea how to clean, restore and maintain a lighter 🤷♂️😂
Undoing such beautiful patina is heresy
The lighter was bad ass, then you ruined it.
Would recommend reading the description.
