I hate to see it but the parts cannon method worked for me. When I had trouble with the fuel system I replaced everything. I chased vacuum leaks for days until I was double and triple checking for leaks so no vacuum leaks existed anymore. Finally refurbished AFM & ECU went a long way for me regarding restoring engine performance and idle. It was totally night and day how the car ran. Also all those darn sensors at the thermostat housing seemed to help.
Have you tried jumping the fuel pump relay with a (preferably fused) lead? Maybe your relay is having sporadic issues when it's getting hot. Another issue could be the charcoal canister / expansion tank system. I believe it itself has its own fuel filter and a breather valve for the fuel tank.
Try the ignition wires going to the distributor. It's worth checking anyway cos you can get problems when the car gets warm/hot. The wires can disconnect when they get warm. It will still start but will keep cutting. It can be a real problem which can go undiagnosed.
Hey, I don't know if you explored any issue with the Air Idle Control and / or auxiliary Air Idle Control My 79 733 may be different than yours. FYI Im beginning to hate mine.. It looks great though! Black w/ Red Leather.. You have to be thankful you didn't get an older one!
What washer fluid container are you using? My car has a two piece system that a previous owner lost the concentration tank for. Now I have no reservoir. Yours looks sleek and almost factory, did it come from another old style beemer?
Bad o-rings on the inlets of the injectors? I have a 1979 733i that i am currently working on. I have to rebuild the clutchpacks currently and have a bunch of odds and ends i have to deal with.
@@fortheloveofcarz yeah I just had to pick up a new throttle pedal spring because the old one lost its elasticity. I still have to order a new windshield washer fluid pump cause one of the nipples broke off at the base. Oil filter changes are fun though cause it has the stock filter setup. At least the sunroof seal and motor still works perfectly. But I have to order new door window motors. I love my car though.
Lol, I have a 79 733i as well.. And having a lot of problems too . I'm beginning to hate this car! Plus it has the old intake manifold pipes from The earlier models..
ECS Tuning, AutohausAZ, Ebay, Rock auto for some basic stuff, AutoZone had the Mass Airflow Sensor, www.programainc.com for the ECU. Pretty much just finding the part number and searching it. Use Realoem.com to get the part numbers.

Wished it had worked for me for sure. I got a lot more drastic to eventually fix the idol as you will see in future videos.

The fuel pump has been rewired with a new one in the trunk right next to it. :-) we thought that might be the issue too.
So, why did you tear the engine down to begin with?
Bad compression. Blown head gasket likely due to overheating.
What fun! That’s a huge fuel filter for a little car!
Yeah it is! lol
try also to check fuel pressure sensor and fuel pressure regulator
For sure

I'd be looking at the injectors. May be leaking externally or even internally.
They are new so its not impossible but pretty far down the list.

Problematic for sure. seem to make it impossible for a good idle. I do resolve tat in the future with a much more drastic approach.
Hmmmmm.....could be the temp sensor or sensors by the thermostat housing. Test those and make sure to clean the connectors.
They were all replaced. Each fricken one lol there are a lot of them.
👍

As far as I know mine is factory. And leaking. :-) BMW life.

Injectors we’re all replaced when the engine was rebuilt. These things are never ending work though. For sure. :-)

Also your set up is a little different. My fuel pump is external not internal. I recently re placed that as well as the fuel filter.

Where do you gets parts ??
The internet. :-) I am sure they were both refurbs.
Any kind of fuel tank sludge causing the issue?
Nope I completely refurbed it in the last video.
where have you bought new items?
The internet. :-) I am sure they were both refurbs.
@@fortheloveofcarz can you recommend any particular place?

I would go with a single pump setup under the car, just use a pipe to replace the intank one.
I may just do that!
