About The Art of Saving a Life:
Despite great progress, one in five children today do not have access to the life-saving vaccines they need. The Art of Saving a Life, a project commissioned by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, is a collection of stories about how vaccines continue to change the course of history. It offers an opportunity to hear, see and feel the tremendous impact of immunization, and to energize us in the global effort to protect every child from life-threatening disease. These stories are told by more than 30 world-renowned photographers, painters, sculptors, writers, filmmakers, and musicians to impress urgency on the global community to reach all children with the life-saving vaccines they need. Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. Through these efforts, Playing For Change aims to create hope and inspiration for the future of our planet.

Whew, man. When a song too perfect for ‘cover’ performances, Playing For Change does it beautifully. When it seems there’s no hope for humanity, PFC proves there just might be some. This was exactly what my day needed. Thank you!

Man, Grandpa Elliot has an amazing voice! This is my favorite cover of one of the best songs ever written.
I’ve watched him perform in New Orleans multiple times. Just returned from a trip there and it was my first time there since he died. Now I have a painting of him on my wall. At least I got to listen to him a few times before he died🎷

I absolutely LOVE these playing for change tunes. First one I heard was "Stand By Me", and that was a LONG time ago, now. I remember thinking this was one of the coolest things ever done, and now years later, I'm convinced I was right. I think that the world would be a better place if more people knew about cooperation rather than fighting and "competition". We as a species are stronger when we cooperate, not when we duke it out. Listen to these recordings and tell me I'm wrong. It took people from all over the world to sound this cool and wonderful. We can do the same with other things, too.
