Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people. The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World. Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band-a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey; and establish the Playing For Change Foundation-a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world. My music teacher in 6th grade showed my class this video, Im now a senior in highschool and still frequently revisit. Theres just something so beautiful about the song and all the different people around the world coming together to make this. In 2009 my English teacher played this video for the whole class and I was “peaking” from a red scorpion I took earlier. I felt like my soul had ascended into space floating amongst the void and the stars. When the video was over I looked at the floor to see it wavy like the ocean. I don’t remember that day but I remember that moment. Good times.

My father loves this song, and this specific version of the song. Two months ago he got ill and was sent to the hospital. Later on he was diagnosed with glioblastoma, the worst kind of brain cancer. Doctors said treatment was not worth it because if he survived, he would be in coma for the rest of his life, unable to move, talk and even function properly without the help of medical support. He may depart at any moment.
Dad, I love you with all my heart. Hope to see you again when my time comes. Till then, all I got is the memories of the wonderful time we had together. Thank you for everything you taught me, all the sacrifice you made so I could have a better life. I’ll miss you so much dad. When you meet grandpa and grandma, tell them I said hi, and that I miss them too.

You always played this video at the end of class to remind us that we are all the same and we can all count on each other to help one another.
