I was literally just coming onto this comment section after watching the review to state this. They brought Xenoblade chronicles 1 to the switch so hoping they do that with “last story” at some point. I remember it having some flaws on the Wii especially the technical side but I still enjoyed that game a lot and would love to play it again.
I agree with a revival of the whole Operation Rainfall trilogy. It's great Xenoblade which is the best of the trilogy is getting the recognition. Last Story and Pandora's Tower also deserve recognition. Nintendo I think does own rights to the characters given the trophies and stickers in Smash Bros; and there were plans for Zael to be an Assist Trophy iirc. But Mistwalker would be needed to make a faithful remake/remaster. Not sure what owns Pandora's Tower, but Microsoft owns Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey unfortunately.
Every Switch game i anticipated this year has the same consensus. It runs on the Switch, but there are better options. 2024 truly is the year too much for the system
The Switch was a great revolutionary console, but that thing was obsolete by the end of 2021. I regret having played some games on that instead of on PC or other consoles.
I feel like it’s that companies have stopped bothering to optimize their games for the Switch. It’s not like the Switch is actually aging the way living creatures do. I think DQ III, Brothership, and Fantasian could all have been optimized to run fine on Switch. None of these games are pushing the envelope in the graphics department.
I agree. I was excited to try Trails Through Daybreak and Hogwarts Legacy. And I guess it’s impressive that they got them to run on the Switch, but the sacrifice in graphical quality is getting more noticeable.
Hell yeah. Was not expecting 60fps on switch. Love the combat focus and difficulty. Pity about the fps drops when flying around. Looking forward to this :)
Square just needs to sell the rights to Nintendo and let Takahashi have at it. Otherwise, I think there would be a bit of tension between Nintendo and Square. Nintendo would (rightfully) feel like Square is just trying to cash in on the "Xeno" brand AFTER Nintendo made it into a success.
Who are these performance snobs that have invaded switch forums. Nintendo hasn't cared about top performance since the N64. And switch gamers don't care about top performance either. Breath of the wild had performance issues. We still bought it. Hyrule warriors had performance issues. We still bought it. Doom 2016 had performance issues. We still bought it. The Witcher had performance issues. We still bought it. So why don't y'all take your 4K, ray tracing, 60 frames caring selves over to the Xbox series and PS5 pro forums. And let us switch players play donkey kong land 2 for the game boy in peace.
I think it's important to recognize that Nintendo, since beginning the practice of selling very visually demanding ports of certain games (like Witcher 3 and Doom Eternal) to their console (crashes included), is obviously now caring about performance. In fact, some of their newest ports (Tales of Symphonia for instance) have been trashed because of plain awful performance, and players have gone to play them elsewhere. Surely Nintendo (and their developers) should care, when they lose out on sales and future interest because they couldn't get a game to perform well on their latest console, which was released exclusively for THEIR OWN CONSOLE more than 10 years ago, on the GameCube. The points you're bringing up - "we still bought it" - are the thoughts of someone who is a fan and supporter of a particular brand (or idea of a brand). But with Nintendo's new direction, they need to think bigger than people like you, because you'll eventually stop playing games, and the brand must persist beyond you.
The game looks absolutely gorgeous, I wouldn't call this "mid graphics", it's gorgeous. That said, the storyline being mid means I won't purchase this day 1. I'm a little burned out by Metaphor and how long it took to complete that (in fact I'm not done yet).
For me Fantasian Neo Dimension is one of the biggest games because it's Final Fantasy like RPG made by Mistwalker, but Square Enix published it, this looks surprisilly good even on Switch and as Leo I love that boy's name is Leo too so this is the must buy game for Switch defienitily for me and I believe this would be even 8/10 great game! 😊❤

Pretty harsh review considering it’s a game that was made for Apple Arcade over 3 years ago. I played it when I came out and it got hard at the end, but if you’re struggling on normal mode that seems like l personal skill problem. This game is amazing and a great addition to any rpg library.
I dont like the story told like an audiobook with images. Like I did play radical dreamers and loved it but I knew it was like that. But mixed in an interactive game, it just breaks the pacing and makes me impatient.
Its final fantasy but different name. Ill wait for this to be on sale for now i bought persona 5r cause I've been waiting for so long to be on sale (60%) on eshop
This is not made by Square Enix. I get where you are comjng from, but this was made by the original creator of the FF series, and published by SQEX so I promise you it's worth trying.
Theres these amazing backgrounds crafted from real life miniatures which look stunning and yet it is completely ruined by the extremely generic anime models.
I played it on iOS with a controller when the first game came out. I liked it at the beginning, thought some of the ideas were neat, but I just didn't click with the story and characters at all and after the first sense of novelty wore off, I even lost interest in the combat system. Also I really wasn't a fan of the diorama art style. figuring out where you can and cannot go was a pain sometimes. Overall I wouldn't recommend it.
Lackluster story? Bad pacing? Brutally long encounters? These are opinions folks! I fully disagree with all of those and I grew up with FF as my favorite series. This reviewer doesn’t seem suitable for reviewing this genre.

It's nice indeed, but I think it's pretty much to be expected given the simple 3D characters on pre-rendered background.
They might fix it later like other switch ports
60fps on switch emulated on pc is the best way to play switch games.
