Game is download on my PS5 just playing the waiting now. Lost Odyssey helped me through the death of my Grandma. It’s truly a masterpiece. Sadly now my sister in law just passed away from cancer this game is coming out just at the right moment for me.
I believe that it's not Nobuo Uematsu himself that's copyright striking, but the company that owns the rights to his music. Having said that, this game looks really dope. Great video man, love your work!
Yea that makes sense. If I recall, it was the composers of DQ that can be stringent with music, unless that's also the company. In that case, you're better off using other music.
You should really go and play the other amazing RPGs that have come out recently instead like Like A Dragon: Infinte Wealth, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Romancing SaGa 2 Remake, and Dragon Quest III Remake. They are all much more worth your time.
@@theconsolekiller7113All the backgrounds for this game were actually handmade dioramas from the crew or I should say from the staff. Then they scanned it and photographed it from many angles. It's such a depth amount of work

Thanks for the overview. I played this on my phone when it came out and loved it from start to finish. While the difficult second half is polarizing, it was my favorite part of the game because of how rewarding it was to overcome the challenges. I highly recommend old school players try out the original difficulty!
Waiting for my physical copy on PS5. I have to finish Dragon Quest 3 Remake first though. Thank you for the great content. It’s always a pleasure watching your videos.
Simplicity makes me want to try it! I am playing through Metaphor Refantazio, and while I like it, there’s just too much going on. It’s to the point where once I get home after working all day, I don’t always want to pick it up and have to listen to the heavy dialogue and deal with all the systems in the game.
I remember seeing this in one of your earlier videos and was hoping you would end up doing a first thoughts/review for it at some point because it caught my attention. I will absolutely pick this up.
I have all of mistwalkers game and loved em all, preordered this as soon as I heard it was coming but I'll have to wait until January to start it. Will be a good start to the new year!
I've never understood the nitpicking over text font or how in the world it could break immersion... sounds more like a preference or pet peeve than a actual problem
While it is obviously a text style that was implemented for mobile, the overall use of the dialogue bubbles honestly give me a nice nostalgic touch from all of the o.g. greats that grew the jrpg genre.
Was listening to Speed King (piano version) by Deep Purple. Must have been a big influence on Nobuo for crafting battle music. Sounds like a boss fight theme Lol
Sakaguchi was inspired by replaying FFVI when he made this game. He wanted to bring back the same feeling he had when he replayed it on a stream. So it’s really VI-X
I am SO EXCITED! I have been waiting for this game for years. I refused to play it via Apple Arcade, so I have been biding my time and hoping for it to eventually come to consoles. I hope my physical edition gets in soon.
Looks stunning, played a tiny bit on my Apple TV with PS4 controller back then -- that was a great setup honestly! The first few months of Apple Arcade are some really fond modern gaming memories of mine!
I played this game for about 5 hours on Apple Arcade and just gave up because I can't stomach games on phone.. I said to myself "If this ever comes out physically on something else I'm in" and so I'm glad it is

So glad you reviewed this Johnny and you liked it. I had some interest in this game but needed to see more, looks great and back to old style jrpg I like.

Was "umming and ahhing" about this one. As a huge fan of classic/PS1 era FF, this review told me everything I needed to know. My copy arrives later today! lol
Nice! I didn’t hear this was getting released outside of mobile. I played maybe 1/4 at most on the iPhone but I feel off as I never play mobile games. Excited to try out a big boy version of these titan’s work!
Yep been waiting for this one for years! Glad to see it's more widely available to everyone now. Combat gets more complex and fun as you learn how to use the Dimengion function works as the game progresses.

Thank you, Johnny! The game kept falling on and off my radar but now I'm very excited for it. I'm off this week, had planned a few mundane things later this week but... I think I'll pay myself a little extended gaming session for a change, lol (don't usually have much time off, I work in a hospital).
Definitely picking this up, my backlog is killing me but thankfully there are a couple recent releases I skipped, so might as well support Sakaguchi with that money I saved elsewhere.
I am getting this for the PS5 and Switch as well. After playing the pixel remasters, I wanted to play a new game with that classic feeling again too, and here it is!
Just so you know, this is random but somehow, Mistwalker is doing a new dark fantasy JRPG, the coined title was 'Fantasian: Dark Edge'/'Fantasian Dark Edge' one of those two. Nobuo Uematsu will be doing some scores for the soundtrack as well, but not the entire set of songs given his age and how physically demanding it can be to be directing the music side of these projects. I hope they do Dioramas again!
I’m going to assume (since you are a creator) that your choice of music is very intentional. That being said, the fact that city picked the song “Never look back” from FF8 is awesome! Knowing the development history of FF8 makes that selection so symbolic
Ive just bought it for ps5 still havnt played it wanting to play it on Christmas day and im deffo gonna buy lost odyssey for my series s love the recommendations
I've been interested in this one since you mentioned it in an earlier ep. I'll be keeping an eye out for it on my Series X. Get the most outta those backgrounds 🤙
Really great game, played twice on my Mac with a controller, and it was a joy for the most part. The original's late-game difficulty spike was just a little too steep imo. I am curious to see how much the new easy mode affects the games enjoyability.
Oh man, when I heard about this game, I was over the moon with excitement. After playing The Last Story and a host of Final fantasy games, I grew to enjoy Sakaguchi's work. Alas, I can't get the game yet. Gonna have to wait to see what the holidays bring me. EDIT: This will go great as a completion to the trifecta of this, Sea of Stars and Chained Echoes
It’s a nice game. I like the visuals and the battle system / exploring storing enemies mechanic. Definitely great for that nostalgic feeling while having a little bit of a modern touch.
Johnny, I really recommend you try the Romancing SaGa 2 remake, it's a glorious RPG that's of course very old school like Fantasian with an awesome redone soundtrack.
i really wish SquareEnix would give his studio a bigger budget to create a more consistent higher quality game... even if its 1/4 of the cost of the real FF series they usually give out
I love the old school aesthetic and simplicity. I don't care much for modern real time combat games, and am playing FANTASIAN as I write this. It does require massive level grinding, but i don't mind that at all.
