Bro what. 82k on the dash. What a steal. I’ve had my 2006 cts for 6 years and it’s been the best daily driver I’ve ever had. Never put a dollar in her other than tires, break pads, a battery and oil changes
I have an 04 CTS-V and when I heard there was a clunk when engaging the clutch my first thought was the rear diff bushings since my car did the same around 80k miles. They make a killer aftermarket bushing with a kind of hook that bolts to the diff housing to add additional support. That aftermarket bushing has now lasted me a solid 70k miles with little to no degradation.
Thank you so much man, you gave me hope now. All the videos on UA-cam are several years old and have terrible angles on what to do with maintenance. I got my 05 a little over a month ago for 10k and 155k on the dash. Brand new RPM transmission(w/ warranty) which is why I had to get it.
Awesome find! Stealth Grey is a somewhat rare color, 1 of 4 available for CTSV, especially with the light grey interior. My STSV was this exact same combo. Excited to see more of it!

Good luck finding the rear diff carrier assembly. Been on national back order, have been waiting on a factory one for 4 months. Ended up finding a used one. 2013 ATS
Instead of buying a CS rear diff bushing, you can buy an Energy Suspension part # 3.2125G and cut it down slightly and it's a direct fit in the diff without cutting or pressing out the metal sleeve (the most time consuming job by far which can be a days job) and expensive if renting the tool. The ES bushing set comes with 2 so I can sell the other one for $18 shipped if you or anyone else want to fix it super fast and reliably.
I have some advice for you when the car staying long time +6 months: 1- change the fuel. 2- check oil engine - gearbox - differential - brakes. 3-check the spark plug and it's cables. 4- compressor and it's lines with filling valve and O rings. Regards

The clunk is probably the motor mounts. In 2010 I had an 05 with about 55k that the stock mounts were trash. If you’d push the clutch while under load the engine would slam back down as there was too much drivetrain movement and the mounts would rip. Looks like yours were replaced already, but these are notorious for eating motor mounts. My clunk went away after I did some poly motor mounts for the remaining 10k miles I had it.
