Bro what. 82k on the dash. What a steal. I’ve had my 2006 cts for 6 years and it’s been the best daily driver I’ve ever had. Never put a dollar in her other than tires, break pads, a battery and oil changes

I have an 04 CTS-V and when I heard there was a clunk when engaging the clutch my first thought was the rear diff bushings since my car did the same around 80k miles. They make a killer aftermarket bushing with a kind of hook that bolts to the diff housing to add additional support. That aftermarket bushing has now lasted me a solid 70k miles with little to no degradation.

Man I use to have an 2007 CTSV last year of the 1gen had upgrade diff mounts. Long tubes full exhaust with a creative steel shirt shifter it was a 6.0 LS2 with a stage 2 T-56 transmission fully rebuild. Miss it everyday. Even with the bad gas prices this was a car with SMILE PER GALLONS. Car got nothing but love everywhere I took it.

Instead of buying a CS rear diff bushing, you can buy an Energy Suspension part # 3.2125G and cut it down slightly and it's a direct fit in the diff without cutting or pressing out the metal sleeve (the most time consuming job by far which can be a days job) and expensive if renting the tool.
The ES bushing set comes with 2 so I can sell the other one for $18 shipped if you or anyone else want to fix it super fast and reliably.

I have some advice for you when the car staying long time +6 months:
    1- change the fuel.
2- check oil engine - gearbox - differential - brakes.
3-check the spark plug and it's cables.
4- compressor and it's lines with filling valve and O rings.
    Regards

The clunk is probably the motor mounts. In 2010 I had an 05 with about 55k that the stock mounts were trash. If you’d push the clutch while under load the engine would slam back down as there was too much drivetrain movement and the mounts would rip. Looks like yours were replaced already, but these are notorious for eating motor mounts. My clunk went away after I did some poly motor mounts for the remaining 10k miles I had it.

I daily drove a 2005 V1 for about 2 years. Had heads / cam and bolt-ons, and it was a fun car but man it had gremlins out the wazoo lol. Make sure all your grounds are clean and tight, as those will create a lot of issues. My diff made the same exact clunking noise when I let out the slack on the clutch like that. Its absolutely worth it to use every differential-related upgrade that Creative Steel makes. Mine also had the same clear coat failure on the rear bumper, Cadillac sure did a lot of learning with these cars haha. But they are cool cars for sure because of how rare they are. That starting issue seems like the car hasn't been properly tuned after the cam swap, i had the exact same symptoms with my cam swap, it would randomly die after starting or hiccup and go up and down the range trying to get to its idle setpoint. Bumping up the cold start idle and a few airflow related settings helped for me, but it probably needs a bit more than that, especially if you dont know the cam specs.

So let me get this straight.
@6:40 you brag about how it’s the cheapest CTS-V in the country and you’ll talk about the price later on in the video. But then later on in the video @32:10 you say you’ll save the price for another video. I enjoyed the video but I feel like that was #ClickBait.

I've been building a few, get rid of that diff brace and do a nice poly bushing in the diff, it's your safest bet. Those braces are known to cause issues.

Keep the Yokohama brand new tires just in case you may want some different rims you can swap them out entirely and just have two sets of wheels and tires also you may want to knock the rust off with a wire brush then you can paint them ?
