It’s a very bad look for a Labour Government to take away the winter fuel allowance from millions of pensioners, many of whom are only marginally above pension credit limits. To refuse to rule out removing bus passes and scrapping the single person council tax allowance is simply beyond comprehension. All the while Starmer is happy to accept free clothing, glasses and football tickets!

Imagine you work for 50+ years paying taxes, and then the government takes away your heating and taxes your pension.
To be fair the torys have put many pensioners into paying income tax as the tax free allowance has been frozen for a number of years at 12750.that will be a nice surprise for many pensioners and if they get the 460 increase next year 20% minimum will go in tax.however the tory labour party could stop this by raising the allowance and taxing those that can afford it (the mega rich)instead.that is a choice reeves has made ,to tax the poorer so the rich do not have too,

If UK government finally stood up for the nation and told Amazon to pay the tax (which they are 100% avoiding) it would not only remove the need for these newly introduced ridiculous taxes but also allow interest rate decline as well as tax band raise, and maybe even save NHS. I think your figures are wrong, it's actually 8 out of 10 of the electorate don't favour Starmer, as for the 2 i do believe this is subject to a reduction after recent events. This £22Bn hole is less than 2% of government spending, less than 0.7% GDP. They're bloaming too much and certainly getting their money's worth out of that "hole", aren't they? Between foreign spending and closing tax loopholes they could plug the gap. I can't see this lot lasting beyond Christmas come the October budget, not least if they remove the single person's CTax discount while removing the 5% ceiling councils can increase CTax by.

2.5% of £13,000 does not cover the rise of rent, council tax, electric and other necessary bills If we have another small pension we also pay income tax at 20%. We cannot claim pension credits either. How heartless can the government be to take away from pensioners and yet throw so much money to other countries and immigrants.
Its rising by 4.6% which for me on the old part of the two tier pension system will be a tenner

The train companies actually pay the drivers.Where the money goes is on guaranteed profits for the train companies, even during strikes. As for the doctors, the've seen a real term decline in real wages since 2010. Why should they get poorer year on year?

Eagle's defence of removing the winter fuel allowance on the grounds that she voted for it in the first place is clearly inadequate, but it's silly for Aaron Bastani to say you can't think it was right then but wrong now. There obviously are arguments for that (you can think that pensioners are relatively better off now than then for example) and Eagle should have been forced to make them if she believes in them to the extent that they justify the change. It's hardly news that she's a poor speaker though and it would be very surprising if she'd answered any further questions properly.
