Planning gets you there, the conditions when you arrive are in the lap of the gods.
Some crackin' images there. Best for me is the path, the tree and the rock at 8:40, (classic three elements) and I've got a preference for vertical compositions anyway.
One advantage to the Go-Pro playing up is it kept the vlog shorter 😉😄🤣

Getting a good image is a combination of both planning and luck. Planning gets you to where the composition or scene lies and to some degree you can plan for certain atmospheric conditions. Luck comes into play in determining if the light and atmospherics are actually going to play ball at the time you have planned for. In my case the photography and weather gods rarely talk to each other. More great images and tips on places to add to my list for places to visit when I can next get back to the UK.

Great images Paul👏 love the edits on these, I know fog softens but the dialling back of the contrast really makes these some of my favourite images you have shown in a while. Just find too much contrast in landscape images make them a bit crunchy and artificial, but that's only my opinion and not wanting to offend your other work👍. Thanks for putting in the time and showing these locations. Just remember why you get up silly o'clock on days off, It's your down time, a hobby you enjoy. Live for the experience and yes some day's you get lucky. Take care fella 💪

Hi Paul, great images, I loved the old trees, very beautiful, I would say Luck 70% Planning 30%, no matter how much you planning you do, you cant control the weather. You have to love technogoly, you sort one problem only to encounter another 🙈 luckely the video didn't suffer from it, I have done an entire vlog to come home to no audio before 🤣😡😢

Plenty of composition opportunities in that locality Paul and you definitely made the most of it with some great images. Technology is ok when it works but so frustrating when it doesn't. Personally and considering you have a Monday to Friday job I think you do very well to turn out excellent vlogs week in week out 📷👏👏

Good vlog, thanks. I reckon you plan more thank you think. I guess you planned location, time of the day, primary compositions, and time of the year/season. The last part, weather, always has a great deal of luck. Like you said, the weather forecast you had that morning wasn't even correct.

This is where I am planning on heading next weekend for a sunrise. Never been to the Roaches before and won't have time to scout it out.... So if I get anything from the sunrise it will certainly be luck! Haha!

Clean the battery terminals mate.. Scratch them a bit with a pointy object and try that. It's surprising with low voltage things how little tarnish etc. can reduce power sufficiently for the item to not work.

@@paulcomptonpdphotography Then if it's a tarnished contact problem it's in the item rather than the batts. Hope you can resolve it before it costs more money.
