- The Roaches in the Peak District UK is, in my opinion, one of the best landscape photography locations in the Peak District. This photographers guide not only covers The Roaches, Roach End Barn and Doxy Pool but also show you how to access other areas such as Luds Church and Hens Cloud.
We’ll run through everything you need to know from parking to photograph in this landscape photography location guide to The Roaches
Our landscape photography gallery plus much more besides can be found by visiting www.LetsClickPhotography.com

Thanks to Rauri Barron and to Paul Farace for featuring this month, please check the links in the descriptions for more from these great photographers. Thank you for your wonderful feedback - very much appreciate it 😀
What a wonderful video mate, so well put together, the effort and time is shown through the quality. From your great commentary, broll, the music choice and the spectacular photography. Really enjoy this format of video, the storytelling and flow to the video was captivating. Look forward to more of these videos, great guides. Thanks for allowing me to be a part of this video, really appreciate that 😊 Happy New year!
Thanks so much Rauri, and thanks for taking part. You'll be a hard act to follow :)
Just got round to watching this Dave and it was worth the wait. Fantastic video, really well put together, well done.
Thanks so much Andrew, really appreciate it :)
What a great tour of a beautiful location. The images were fantastic and loved the drone footage as well.
Thank you very much Christopher, really appreciate your feedback :)
Nice work Dave. Lot of work in this video and some great locations. Thanks for sharing mate 👍🙏
Thanks a lot Adrian, much appreciated 😀
Super comprehensive video Dave! Great pieces of advice & was good to see Rauri involved😀
Yeah he's a good sport is Rauri :)
Solid video Dave, really enjoyed this! Cheers for the inclusion and shout out!
Thanks Paul - it was great having you on to feature, much appreciated
Great tip mate, I wasn’t aware of that editing technique to fix the halo effect, so thanks for sharing. 😊
@@RauriBarron thanks bro!!
Great video Dave. I really liked the travel/informational format of this video. I've heard you talk about doing this, glad to see it in put to use. Invaluable info for people making a trip to a new location! Loved seeing Rauri's favourite location as well. Stunning location and well presented as you would expect from Rauri. As always, loved the bit of history you always seem to include in your videos! Really enjoyed this look at The Roaches mate, looks like a place you could explore from sun up to sun down. Added to my list for sure. Great video to start the new year mate! Take care, stay safe, chat soon!
Cheers Paul, sorry for the late response......although we've 'spoke' since! Thanks for the great feedback :) I'll look forward to giving you a guided tour of the Roaches when you are over next
Fantastic video, Dave! Since I am planning a trip to the UK for 2022 this has been very helpful for me to understand a location I definitely want to visit. You provided some thorough information which I greatly appreciated. It was great to see Rauri and Paul. Phenomenal photos and drone footage! I really appreciate the hard work you did putting this video together! I look forward to seeing your Lake District video!
Thanks so much Walter. Well hopefully come 2022 I would love to give you a guided tour of this area and more. Really appreciate your kind words and support Walter. Unfortunately, due to new travel restrictions imposed in the UK, I may not be able to deliver on my promise of the Lake District for February. I have closer to home option if not and the Lake District may come over the following couple of months....fingers crossed. Happy New Year to you Walter, I hope 2021 brings you great things :)
Great Vlog, interesting subject, "landscape photography locations" great views and foregrounds interesting magazine format to your vlog, well done, thanks for sharing
Thanks Tony, I think we’ve spoken before about showing off the location rather than just being about photography, which is what I was going for here. Appreciate your feedback, thanks Tony
wow great video Dave, loved the informative layout of it and having other photographers ideas on there was great. Vlogging isn't easy so i can tell a lot of work went into this.
Thanks Jeremy, yeah it took a bit to do so I really appreciate the feedback. Obviously it’s a bit niche being that it’s very specific to an area which is why it was great that Paul and Rauri were so helpful in sharing their thoughts. Happy New Year mate all the best
Great guide Dave, really detailed and will be much appreciated by many a photographer - The Roaches has officially been added to my list! Nice to see how you worked Paul and Rauri into the vid - back-up from the big guns there! 😊 Lovely shot at the end too.
Thanks Robert, for sure, if you’ve never been then definitely add it to your list. To be honest, there’s a fair few more shots in this area too that I wasn’t able to work in, so plenty more to explore. Well worth a trip. Thanks a lot for the feedback, much appreciated 😀
Fantastic. This would make a great tv show. Nice work. I would say this video took a bit of time. Weldone.
Cheers Paul, it took a bit longer than normal that's for sure - I may tout it to channel 5 haha Thanks very much mate, appreciated :)
Great work Dave, quality content as ever but the format and location info is brilliant 👍🏻 Look forward to your Lakes adventure, ATB
Thanks Steve.....I'm afraid that yesterdays announcement has put the Lake District back into the year, I have about half the footage in the can, but looks like I won't get the rest for a little while :( Really appreciate you taking the time to watch, thanks :)
@@LetsClickPhotography yeah.. hopefully not too far down the line mate 🤞All the best
Loved this video and the history. Was sent here by Rauri Barron.
Hey @pix4Japan thanks so much for stopping by - very much appreciate it :)
You have such a great keen eye, and I really appreciate how you go about explaining your compositions...very much appreciated! The history of areas I always find very intriguing...the hopes and dreams of early settlement...thanks so much for sharing your expertise. All the best to continued success in 2021!
Thank you very much. I feel the same about the history of locations and how mankind has impacted the landscape around us. Happy New Year to you, all the best for 2021
Interesting topic, definitely is a great location and some nice images as well.
Hope you get plenty more in 2021. Cheers
Interesting channel
Thanks :)
Straight off (and I know you said it at the end) but that was some serious time and effort to put together so a big slap on the back for that Dave ! So much in there from the Aroll, Broll, Images (present and past) , music choice, editing and doubtless many many takes especially the Lud's Church narrative !! I know the spot but imagining I didn't , this was a bang on informative film (not just a vlog) but a film! Splendid work and so much investment ! - Hope the Lakes trip will be on for next month now the tiers have ramped up - I've just had my first caravan trip of the year cancelled :( due to the new restrictions. Anyway - onwards and upwards and thanks for a splendid watch :)
Thank you so very much Andrew. It certainly did take a while....and yes that Luds Church bit took quite a few takes....not quite as many as trying to remember the names of the national parks in Australia mind....just couldn’t get my tongue in for that bit!! So much appreciate the feedback. I really just wanted to make something that could inspire someone to visit or add to their ‘must go’ list. As for the Lake District, as you could probably guess, this was filmed prior to all the announcements pre and post Christmas. I do think that tier 4 will delay that one coming out, I’d go for one trip but I would need two days minimum to film it properly and that seems out of the question for now...I have a ‘closer to home’ backup option though. Thanks a lot Andrew and happy new year mate 😀
@@LetsClickPhotography Agree on the travel Dave - Our first caravan trip in January has been cancelled and we have one to the Lakes booked for Feb which I'm sure will also be cut :( Going to be Lockdown Local Episodes for a while !
Great vlog Dave, I'm local to this area but looking at your photos I must get back and do some more compositions
Thank you Alan. I must confess, looking back on this video, I have since found loads more to shoot on and around the Roaches....it probably deserves an update. I was back up shooting there a few days back, with the sun so low in the sky, it makes it a beautiful time of year to visit, although the unsheltered trees have now dropped all their leaves.
