- With a burst of speed of 65 km an hour, the Leopard without a doubt is a formidable predator. In this tense and compelling encounter, we stalk quietly alongside a Leopard as it sizes up an unsuspecting Impala, from the cover of a gully.

I like how the others like “damn they got Jessica, oh shit nvm”
Jessica 😂😂😂
Random names like this are hilarious. 😂
Yeah, it IS kind of funny how not all of them had the instinct to run away, but that's how it is for animals.
Often times as soon as a predator grabs an animal, the others just stand by knowing that they're potentially going to be safe after a successful hunt.
Maybe it's their way of mourning or informing other animals that theres no need to run anymore, who knows.
But yeah, she makes it out and they're like, "oh, nevermind!"
@@isaactheworshipwarrior6687 it has nothing to do with mourning. basically all animals have some Kind of Head Knowledge maybe up to a Kid in elementary school. they see one predator, and he hasnt gotten one yet. and when he does..then there like well were good for today, The Leopard is gonna be full and satiated.
like dodge Ball for Humans, we all run , then when someone is tagged we stop cause that Turn is over. same thing here kina..
Purple Boat: You sound very intelligent.

Other Imapalas At the Back: Your problem, not ours.
Makes sense, she already had enough food to last her for some time
"F*** YOU JACOB AND DAVID!! I ESCAPED!!``
Yea like what are they suppose to do. Give the leopard a kick or something? Wont make a difference really
The Impala took out his hidden knife and shanked the Leopard leaving him for dead.

The impala was an emigre' from Brooklyn.

The Impala got dragged to hell, and emerged victorious.
It's true though XD
Guess Satan didn't want him there
@@katewin7738 XD
Probably, but when you consider the neck wounds and the fact that the cat went for the jugular, the impala would probably have died of blood loss eventually.
@@TiffWaffles Actually, the leopard wasn't "going for the jugular", she was trying to strangle the impala. There was no puncture wound.
Amazing how they get these shots.
nope, just patience

How did the Impala escape, and why didn't the leopard chase it thereafter?
Praveen Nirmalkar Hacker
Exhaustion perhaps??
legend has it that the Impala had one of those small 9mm on itself and it took care of the business.
Leopard has limited lung capacity, cannot chase impala with 50 mph speed.

Why do most of us root for the prey? I mean, the leopard is still missing a meal.
I always root for the predator😉
adam mac
This documentary is rooting for the predator actually.
Bk Jeong I was referring to us, the viewer.. and generally speaking, of course.
I don't know, sometimes it's nice to see they prey escape from death once and awhile. Yeah, the leopard goes hungry but still.
Chantel Stenner Agreed.
The cameraman be like: "I'm invisble, not a single being can see me"
Impala: i didnt tuk bath today..
Lep: eww go away
The way it cut off so quickly - as if David Attenborough hates happy endings. 😅😁

That Impala negotiated with the leopard that it will bring more impalas for him
If impalas have nightmares, that surely has to be one of them.
3:42 impala: ima head out
The impala’s nervous system has the ability to play dead - quite amazing survival mechanism.

I can feel the presense of the one person who doesn't understand the joke and ends up making a fool of themself.
Probably the impala kicked the leopard in the groin.
kicked her right in the gonads
Leopard had a heart attack, maybe.
It was a female
Leopard had to take a call.
THAT'S MAH PURSE, AH DON'T KNOW YOU!!!!!!
Impala's friends: Hey how did you escape from the leopard?
Impala: Actually I ate him and I'm so full that I can't even walk.. Bruuhhhhh....
👌🏼
The Impala made a deal with the leopard while going under " let me go and I will show you the nearest Burger King ! "
If you get the new Ch king sandwich on the burger King app, you get the ch king sandwich and a free whopper
What the hell happened to the leopard... Im thinking either a heart attack or a flea attack and had to start scratching like a dog.
UA-cam5000 ikr I suspect a heart attack happened
Sure! They would never edit the scene so that it looks like the impala ' miraculously ' escaped the leopard, when it actually was some random impala running around... even though it makes for a much more interesting storyline ! because you know everyone in the world can tell individual impalas apart !
Willy Ajax - the impala thing did look dazed and confused when it emerged tho
Willy Ajax the gully wouldnt have random impalas runnung around.they wouldve fled far before.
Might be some blow to vital organs of the leopard.
Leopard: *stealth mode activated*
Leopard: "ah HA, I gotcha!"
Impala: "NOT TODAY B*TCH!!!"
How did the impala scape?
The Leopard heard someone shout "CUT!", so she thought filming was over!
3:30 the deers were too stunned to speak
I think that was a different Impala that was chillin down there and jumped out while the Leopard was busy.

Dear BBC Earth !
I'm impressed of Your work !
Every video of Yours is a masterpiece :

Thank You very much !
Impale walks out- "I'm not trapped in here with you, you're trapped in here with me"
The Impala, "Hey you idiot, I'm not available until next week, go look at the schedule"....
Anyways, I love impala. They might be the McDonalds of the wild... but some of them know how to outclass natural selection.
What kind of microphone are they using!? This is unreal
most "animal" sounds in nature docs are made in studios by humans ;)
If that's the case, it's really disappointing
NeXT NGL I don't see it that way. The creation of these sound effects is really an art. I enjoy finding out what clever ways the sound designer comes up with to simulate all the sounds we hear and make them so believable. Shouldn't that be more incredible to people than if someone just held a microphone to animals? Although the invention of such an amazing mic would be incredible.
NeXT NGL and the shot from the ground above at 0:45 is someth8ng amazing and unbelievable. how cud they capture it
it is called 'foley art'. google to know more about it.
Amazingly good, unbelievably good cinematography! Never seen better. The unexpected escape is just the icing on the cake.

The Impala; "I need to find new friends."
This part of the video belongs to a documentary named "the hunt" beautiful documentary with stunning visuals.
Well, that isn't a Tame Impala, it's certainly got some fight left in it.
I was looking for this exact reference, thank you David.
Do domestic empalas lack the will to fight?

Legend says Attenborough is still holding the tail of the Leopard in the gully. :D
When you thought you were going to die then a glimmer of light shines, and you're still breathing.
Impala must have hit the leopard ball for this miracle escape
This is like in shows where they jump a guy, pull him into a closet, then come out wearing his clothes. I suspect that may actually be the leopard emerging 🤔

I know it's not the same as seeing it live and in person but watching this on a hi def 70 inch TV screen is pretty cool.
Lol if 'm close enough to see it live, I'm close enough to be on her dinner plate. No thanks.
*That* .... was unreal..... something totally unexpected must've happened in that gully, for such a deadly agile cat not to be able to keep hold of an impala.....
The leopard might've been stalked by a hyena , better to let it go and hunt again ?
Climate Change
great video, great camera work, great music, just amazing. Such a pleasure to watch

When the Sever Host kicks you for being better than him/her in a game...

I really want to know how it escaped?! Amazing
Not sure if this is true but apparently Baboons harassed the Leopard causing it to leave the prey and run off. I thought the leopard must have injured itself while it was falling into the gully. But yeah not sure.
@@Absolutepower7 thank you for the answer
Lesson:
When you have got the grip just freaking kill it first, think about your transportation later.
Don't start counting the chicken before they are hatched.
Meanwhile in the hole, when the Impala was "escaping" 5 BBC men holding the leopard down
That impala have a amazing story to tell it's kid
What did that impala do to the leopard when he was off camera
All nations immediately need to take action to stop global warming, protect nature. I dont want to see these great animals becoming extinct.
Nature is Amazing even prey have the ability to scape and survive ❤
2:42 me tryna grab a thanksgiving plate without interacting with my family.
3:25 the other distant impalas are just chilling XD
Plot twist: the leopard knew that they were being filmed, and purposefully let her go to leave a mystery on how she survived, even gave her a limp to sell it
all the other impalas watching their friend getting killed "ain't my problem" just like humans do.
U need 2 stop Thinking that everyone is same the world has both good and bad ppl
Meanwhile his buds are sooo fake, they just gone watch him get eating alive lol
if he dies, he dies
It was a female impala. ^^ And yeah, obviously. A hungry leopard is a threat. A full leopard won't come after you.
Leopard is a master hunter
The way the impala emerges alone it makes it seem like it messed up the leopard lol. Like one of those comic scenes where someone gets pulled off screen, beaten up and their clothes stolen.
Perseverancia y coraje. Tbm sirve para la vida humana.
L
Pretty cool that the camera kept rolling even after the leopard and gazelle disappeared into the gully, or we would have missed this.
What happened in the gully to cause the escape of the impala, now that's a real mystery. The leopard really seemed to have a good grip on the impala, and yet did not even seem to be giving chase to the dazed impala. So I am guessing there was something that distracted the leopard in the gully? Maybe a hyena or a lioness? Probably a hyena, they are capable of following around cheetahs and leopards and stealing their meals, but I can't imagine a lioness doing that. A lioness would have simply chased off the leopard before the hunt.
Anyway, amazing video.
According to the production team, it was baboons; they started harassing the leopard and gave enough of an opening for the impala to get away.
It's fake
*intense music builds up*
Me: I CAN'T TAKE IT
The zoom on the paw of the leopard makes this video high class wow!
As for my opinion there was a some kind of human interference in trench due to which leopard lost his prey and that is why BBC did not show inside trench how impala got escaped....
that impala is really brave to come out of that ditch with a broke leg
I guess the leopard just found out her boyfriend dumped her!
I wonder if it didn’t die later. That leopard had a good grip on its neck
Impalas are cute and delicious at the same time, cant blame the leopard.
Now that's what I call a super sport Impala.
Success well done
My loyalties are always divided with these videos. I want the leopard to eat the impala but I also want the impale to get away and be safe 🤦🏻♀️
Me too. I'm always hoping they catch an old animal that has lived a full and glorious life and give it a quick death. Reality is usually different, though. Half the impala young are killed by predators in their first weeks, and I've seen enough videos of wild dogs, baboons, hyenas and other predators to know it certainly isn't always a quick death. Sigh.
That background music was so cold!!
The other guys are like..."yo dude, did you just see that!"
i like how all the other impalas just look on like " oh no freddy!! he was a great guy"
Amazing how quick he was at catching and securing the prey..
However, this time, his prey got away, not once but twice.
Amazing footage...how do they do it? Thanks so much to your professional photographers.
Somehow, I find it hard to believe that the impala really escaped without some human help off camera!
I think the leopard hit a rock or something and knocked itself out or it snapped its own neck and landed hard or some..... try to look at the leopoard positioning and it looks like they fell a little deep
