Learn how to play "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5 from the album, Songs About Jane taught by guitarist James Valentine Buy "Songs About Jane" here: smarturl.it/SAJ10anniversary
I can't believe you actually take your time to teach us fellow future guitarists how to play popular songs. Dude you're the best, you don't get a gold star; you get a platinum award!
Extremely underrated guitarist. He might not play shred or fast lines, but his rhythms and choices of notes are all so musical and define the Maroon 5 sound. My hats off to you Sir. :)
Such a humble person its really hard to see...your really special from Inside and outside...goodlooking,talented and I bet a nice human being. Respect and congratulations from Argentina.
James is such a great player. He knows a lot of musical theory and always uses a few chords for an entire song. It's brilliant how he manages to get that deep sound with a bit of picking hand technique. I admire him and his very unique style. This lessons are great, and the fact that he took time to make these shows how much of a great guy he is.
It's amazing that you feel so relaxed and confident as a singer songwriter and in yourself to make these tutorials ! There are very few bands/singer song writers who would do this. Many thanks
It’s one thing to play music but to create and tell a story with your playing to using melody and harmony is such a wonderful gift you have. Such an inspiration to us who play.
When you two performed this song tonight, at NA tour 2013 in Vancouver, Canada, I cried. This song means so much to me. Thank you so much for this video! I am determined to learn it by tonight. Amazing show btw! My first concert ever and I'm glad I went to see my favourite band
You are the best! I'm literally shocked due to the fact that 23 people disliked this video...I think it is the coolest thing to get a guitar lesson from the songwriter himself!
You're a beast! Total inspiration. Like many have said before, it's so rare to see professionals take time out to teach their fans. Much appreciated and much love dude.
Sweet! Thank you James for taking the time out of your schedule to teach us. You remind me, many years ago when I first walked into a recording studio and I had the opportunity to hear some 'bed' tracks being recorded. I was astonished (as I think most of us who are used to only hearing a final mix). xx
Thank you James, we know you as a very gifted guitarist but you'd really make a great teacher! Really good lesson. Much, much more please! Thank you. Chrjen
What a great contibution to the music sir, this is the first time that I found the real "artist" teaching his own song, hats off, that's what make a lot of young musician to get involved with music... i saw you in México 1 month ago and you rock! (but i missed to see u with your telecaster)
Thank you very very much. My only regret is that it took me forever to find this video. You have an excellent teaching technique and of course you’re playing is superb. Thanks again.
Thanks James! That was a very cool lesson and you’re great at explaining things without too much theory. Most people don’t really want to study music theory for years and years so they can teach music theory. Most people just want to play and you made it simple to understand. I had a lot of fun playing along man. I hope all is well. Best wishes in all of your endeavors from the Mid-Atlantic region of the USA!
Such a great way to use the IV chord in the chorus. It sounds amazing. I love this song and will not stop practicing until I can play it exactly like this while singing.
Thank you Jimmy, you're really awesome! And this vid is amazing. I'm glad I had the opportunity to watch u guys live. It was amazing. And btw, this is one of my favorite songs
This is so wonderful. It speaks volumes about you! Thank you for taking your time to show us how to play your songs! It is like sharing a little bit of the magic powder you got in your hands! THAANKS!!! BTW..Amazing guitar as well..sustain is forever!
John Petrucci does this quite a lot - but trying to learn his songs is horribly difficult because of how intricate they are! But James Valentine is amazingly in touch with his fans and always gives something back to us (other than his music, of course)!
i just stumbled upon these vids after i was watching some guitar covers , i'm not a marooner so o don't know much about the band but this guy is too sweet like omg!
Thanks for taking the time James! Your tutorial method is far superior to most, you get right to the meat of it without treating us like we're stoopid! ;^)
Hey your 5th Album V is my favorite so far along with 1,2, and 3. Loved the 80's vibe. Please do more of that on the next album and please add more lead guitar work. Really want to hear some solos and harmonizing on guitar.
This is very worth it for beginners, because it teaches several essential skills in a simple three string riff. Comparatively, learning cowboy chords and strumming patters when I was a beginner was more difficult.
This is so awesome. I just put up a "how to play" vid for an easy version of this song and stumbled onto this from the related. I love that the guitarist from the band has a video showing how he actually plays it. This is so useful, i wish all bands did this.
You're such talented awesome & kind guys. I've always loved your band & "she will be loved" has always been my favourite song of all time. Thank you very much for your time to teach us how to play your songs "Such a nice idea!!" I've got my first guitar a year ago & still learning; I hope someday, somehow I'd be like you :) Keep on going, Wish you all the best. Love you always
James - As a guitarist, I can't thank you enough for taking the time to teach this - you are amazing!!! Hate to be greedy, but would love for you to teach "Sunday morning". Thanks - John.

I agree with U .. its cool ...
Really amazing...
True musician, is one that teaches!
Extremely underrated guitarist. He might not play shred or fast lines, but his rhythms and choices of notes are all so musical and define the Maroon 5 sound. My hats off to you Sir. :)
Oh he can shred and play fast stuff
He can and he's awesome at it.
But yeah, it's underrated...
Trinity I know he can, but he chooses not to. That is what I like from this man - he places the music above everything else :)
Exactly what I think
he shred bro
I met this guy on a plane on the way to Vegas a few days ago. He's probably one of the nicest people I've ever met in my life.
Nicee!!!
I know I'm late but hell yeah!!!
Who taught me how to play "She Will Be Loved?" ........James Valentine....
Lovely
Its so great to actually learn from someone who actually wrote the song. Songs About Jane is so great.
This is really cool and much appreciated. You don't see many of the pros taking the time to break down this kind of stuff. Mad respect to you sir
Thank You, I absolutely concur! Quite kewl....:)
I know he can, but he always plays for the song, and that is what I like from the guy. He is very musical and is not a showoff :)
real musician =shared your talent and teach
