This is a very first look of xplane 12 in VR. This is just the demo version as I want to to do a full VR review for Xplane 12 when it is further optimized with patches
I have been an instructor pilot of light and ultralight aircraft for over 35 years, and I honestly do not think the graphics of the FS 2020 scenarios are adequate for the real training of light and ultralight aircraft pilots. Microsoft has designed it (rightly) for those who want to play and not for the training of pilots. for this reason it is much better to take the realism of the X-Plane flight model and build on it autonomously some dedicated scenarios. Which is what has been successfully done with the Italian project of the "VFR ESTREMO"
Sounds like a paid advert for XP. MSFS has just as good a flight model. The G1000 CFD model is probably better than XP. The weather for VFR is very accurate in MSFS so accurate any wind corrected course I have planned is always spot on. Look out the window in MSFS expect to a landmark and it’s there very recognisable. It is an absolute joke hearing hearing XP has some superior model. Not one XP fanboy has been able to do a side by side video to demonstrate that. Any side by side usually looks and “feels” better in MSFS.
@@johnmaguire2185 "Any side by side usually looks and 'feels' better in MSFS." Agreed that this is the impression youtube videos may give. I have and use both simulators and all I can say is that XP feels way more realistic. I think it looks like MSFS has a more realistic flight model on youtube because of the slight turbulence you always get (and see on youtube) - while on XP cruising in still air can look like you are flying on rails. So the difference in "feel" on the yoke with XP is very hard to bring across on youtube, but all I can say is that with XP it feels like you are flying through air - while with MSFS that feeling is not captured as well. Landings and take offs also have a huge difference in feel in MSFS and XP. Have you tried XP?
@@OriginalGuGa the demo. The feeling through a game joystick? Let’s not pretend any stick under a $1000 is anything but a game input. You are invested in XP. Your brain has learnt to positive associate with it. There is no way anyone will be able to put XP head and shoulders above MSFS on any metric other than saying it feels. Let’s get real do some qualitative analysis enough data is available from MSFS. Just needs XP to provide the same.
I'm a novice, is there any ai assistance to help you know what buttons or leavers to adjust. I can fly the basic single engine but would like to move up to jets. Thanks and great video.
Great video! What are the options for rudder axis when using VR controllers in X-Plane 11? VTOL VR has shown that it is possible to fully implement aircraft controls flawlessly only using the VR controllers. After some practice I am getting much better precision than with my old HOTAS. But I am searching for a sim with more realistic helicopter physics.
Glad it’s working for you. I have a 4090 and 13600k and can’t get more than about 10fps. Deleted it and just kept rolling with Xplane 11. Wasted $60, but it’s all good.
Do you have to buy the steam version to use VR/best VR experience? I prefer not to buy from steam. Can you please do a quick set up video for VR? My br hardware option is greyed out.
Waiting for the Q3 and Q4 2024 and might invest in a VR head set. And also will be able to buy airplanes quality checked be X-plane 12 team. Thanks for the video.
I've been fighting for weeks with my Quest 2 on my pc equipped with i5 13600k, 4070, 32GB RAM: what should I do to get on the headset clear and good quality?
HI Llama, Thanks for your comment. I run Windows 11 and use the Oculus app for this one. When it gets further optimized i will do some performance tests for both!
amigo cuando conecto mi oculus quest 2 se caen los fotogramas y no permite flujo del vuelo, desde la pc todo bien pero con el visor no, sabes que hacer?
for some reason when I start in VR the menu is too high to see...also I feel crosseyed when in xplane...this doesn't happen in DCS or IL2...I need to figure out my settings :)
I am afraid not. The scenery in xplane12 looks not as pretty as mfs2020… but flying in xplane feels more real for me. But who know, this is still the early beginning of xplane 12
I think yes, you'll get lifetime updates for XP12 which will drastically improve the sim. For scenery, you can download satellite scenery by using a program called Ortho4XP.
hello can someone please help me. im currently running Xplane12 on my pc... processor i5 8400, 64 bit. i can run the game Maxed out grahic scenery and it Runs Smooth as butter, But once i plug in my HTC vive VR..., the game plays really laggy.... and i have to turn everything down. What can i do to solve this? i love flying in VR.
Although you have a powerful computer and graphics card, I am surprised and shocked at the same time that you had to reduce the graphics settings quite a bit. From this I conclude that with currently available hardware, maximum graphics settings are unsuitable for VR. It would have been good to show the fps at the top left, but unfortunately that is not possible with Oculus Mirror.
yep, unfortunately current graphics cards are not up to the fight with todays graphics in virtual reality, im guessing it will take a few generations before it gets to that point
it's so good i get a blazing fast 7 fps on the lowest settings (i know, my gpu is not capable of running this game, it only has 4 gb of vram. the game struggles with textures not in vr so i expect it)
X-plane 12 is a laughing joke. The only aircraft I enjoy in the whole sim has to be the Cirrus Vision Jet and the Cessna Citation X. The VR is even more a laughing joke. MSFS makes flying in VR so much more a pleasure.

Thank you for your comment Ermanno, I appreciate that. I completely agree with you. FS 2020 is okay, but for realism, I think X-plane fills that spot.

Your video just popped up on my feed and I'm very glad it did. Excellent first impressions video thankyou.
And I am very glad yours did aswell ! This sim is a great win for VR !
That is incredibly smooth. I mean, you're filming! If there was a performance drop, I didn't see it.
Nice video Lau!
Thanks jeroen i appreciate the comment !

It runs on GA but surely does not run as smooth on airliners. Than again try customizing the weather with rain and overcast!!!!
Great job mate
Thanks Rob

according to their release Q&A they didn't release any of the VR integration/optimization changes yet.. it'll come in a later patch
Hi Badu, Yeah I heard that too! That is why I will wait with doing a full review for it!
Very impressive ! keep working 👍
Thank Viktor! Appreciate the comment!

4:26 omg it looks like real life!!!
Amazing video, do I need PC or Laptop to run the flight simulator?
To run this one a very good laptop. I however suggest aerofly fs4. That is much more optimized for vr
Thanks for the info. The Aerofly FS4 can also simulate say boeing 777 emergencies?
I've been fighting for weeks with my Quest 2 on my pc equipped with i5 13600k, 4070, 32GB RAM: what should I do to get on the headset clear and good quality?
I think the monitor is being recorded as not as crisp in Quest 2 .And difficult to record headset.
Do you run on windows 11? If you do do you use the oculus app or steam vr?
HI Llama, Thanks for your comment. I run Windows 11 and use the Oculus app for this one. When it gets further optimized i will do some performance tests for both!
@@laubox Thank you! I’ve just always had problems with vr, especially with the oculus app. Can’t wait for that video!
With your Quest VR Headset, did you it wired in or wireless? Also how did you connect? Did you use VirtualDesktop or Oculus Air Link or ? Thanks!
Using a quest link cable works the best. Air link might work if your right next to your Wi-Fi router lol

That landing was beautiful! There's something about the planes and flight model in X Plane that makes it feel so organic compared to MSFS.
X-Plane 12 looks better with rain
It does !
Try playing with a Reverb G2. Even with RTX 3080 and minimal settings it is a slideshow
So true
One question: I've demo at this point bud the graphics aren't very good should this change when i buy it?
I am afraid not. The scenery in xplane12 looks not as pretty as mfs2020… but flying in xplane feels more real for me. But who know, this is still the early beginning of xplane 12

@@musakh_ is it expensive?
@@ScoobyMoony it's $59.99 for xp12 and you'll get xp11 as well if you buy it in the early release phase
Is the video recorded on the headset?
Is the quest 2 still compatible with xp12 vr and the controllers for the OVHD panel pls help i want buy the Quest 2 thx
what airport ?

What vr headset are you using
i try virtual desktop & open xr, game dosent start in vr :(
how do you use rudders with VR?
When I get a new gaming machine then I will also get the X12 sim as well as my mfs2020 soon to be 2024

Mine just says x plane loading. I’m using an invidia rtx
That is super strange Aaron, i have not heard of this problem.
“I did not know how to break so I just turned of the engine.” 💀
:D
When will x-plane 12 be available on steam? I can't wait to see if it is superior to the "EXTREME VFR" project:
Maybe it was not available at the time of your question, but I just looked it up on Steam and it is there. Unfortunately no demo.
Wich movie, do you watch in the first class? Lol.
My own UA-cam videos..... Yeah I am a narcissist 😁
I’m having issues setting up my VR properly. Anyone willing to help? Using the HP Reverb 2. Xplane on steam VR / WMR
Seems dangerous to play in VR Mode and especially these games I think.
Must be exhausting holding "nothing" like you are holding the plane controls. I prefer a real joystick
Looks like 11.

Still looks like XP11 with a price tag, lower performance and bugs.
bro is a dedicated op to xplane 12
This is Xplane11. hence why i wont spend $100 on Xplane12 nothing has changed.
Major Rip Off ...
$100?
