What’s 1 or 2 setting on the top for
Great question! It’s the “torque” setting, which is the turning power of the drill and allows you to control how much force is applied to turn the screw.
1 means low speed with high torque (high torque means more power which is best for driving screws into wood)
2 means high speed with low torque (low torque is best for drilling holes)
Honestly, we just keep ours on “2” and if it ever stops while drilling (rarely happens, only with super hard woods) then we change to “1”. Hope this helps! It’s a little hard to explain, that’s why we skipped it in the video 😂
The #1 setting is for screwing in screw and #2 setting is for drilling holes in walls.
I don't know
Thank you everyone I still haven't gotten to it but hopefully soon.
My husband knew how to do EVERYTHING and I was always the helper. He passed away 15 years ago and I've wanted to do so much, but had no clue. I remember purchasing a drill and bits, then couldn't figure out how to make it work. I was miserable and tucked it away "somewhere". Your show makes this hope possible. Thank you soooooo much!
I'm an older widow who moved recently. I had bought a deWalt hand drill, and figured out some of it. Understanding the different pressures is new to me. Handymen have been hard to find, don't keep appointments. I have a lot of minor projects impending. Now I can continue installing my new curtain hardware. Thank you!!! - Mrs. JD
I’m sooo happy to hear that! Let me know if there’s anything else that could be helpful for you that you’d like to see ☺️
Well Judeth, I'm in the same boat. I'm a 66 year old widow who can't find a handyman to save my soul. This video is definitely helpful. I did get a corded drill, because I didn't want to buy multiple batteries and when I get started on something I just want to work on it until it's done. So, never having used a drill before, this video should get me going in the right direction. Thank you to NextJen for making this "drills for dummies" video and explaining everything so thoroughly.
I’m happy it’s helpful for you!!
@@lynnjones6386 I am 43 years old and being a single mother with a young child and no man in the house, I kept putting off any basic DIY projects like drilling a nail in the wall to hang something nice. Struggling to use the new cordless drill that I bought but your story and age gives me hope and courage. 🙏🙈😀
Omg girl same ...i lost my hubby a year ago do to covid and i had the drill but I was pretty sure therw was sonetging that has to go in the drill to drill and as this video showed sure enough I need a torch lol
As an elderly person, I have just purchased my first cordless drill driver due to weaker hands and arms and your video was great to help me understand how to use the different settings etc. Well done.
I am in the exact same position was ready to cry tonight because I couldn't figure out what I thought would be very simple. Hands are crippled up with arthritis and I have no one else to help me so I have to learn how to figure things out. Grateful for this video.
@@dawnesarchet7214 same!! Like how hard can it be? But I couldn’t figure it out. Also was about to cry for real
At 52, hubby & I r on our way to being elderly too. Yet we just purchased our retirement home that needs sprucing up. So yeah, this vid is a life saver 💕
I’m SO happy to hear that! If there’s anything else y’all would like to see on this channel that could be helpful for you, please let us know! 🖤
Same .. I just purchased my first drill, never used one before but like the majority of us "older" women I was always the "extra hands." I am so glad that I ran across your channel, I will be checking out what other basic tool videos you have. Thank you very much, it is much appreciated .. :)
Wish my dad could’ve taught me
Wish I had a dad fuckers been “here” on earth but can’t seem to get right or learn how to teach dadly things last time I spoke with mines well he’s the parting too wanted me to do drinking with him oh well we must continue on as young men for ourselves ✊🏾
Hey so yea im 16 and im terrified ill drill my hand or something so i can relate to this sm
Awww ❤ 😥
Bruh mines makin me watch this
Wish my dad could of done it for me
As a single gal living alone, your tool tutorials are so valuable. I bought a drill to put up curtain rods, couldn’t figure out how to use it, so I haven’t had it out since then. Now I’m inspired! Thanks for the lesson on what the parts are and how to use it. ❤
I would love to see more basic videos on how to use different tools and also how to use them to do basic repairs or things around the house for novice users. Thank you, your video is great for us beginners.
Good to know! We have a few tool how-to videos on our channel, but will start making videos on basic repairs too!

VIDEO IDEA #1: I own 2 corded power drills, older ones. Neither of them will hold onto a drill bit well enough. The drill bit starts to spin so it doesn't work. Do you have a video yet about how to fix that? My son-in-law replaced the chuck with a new one but soon I had the same problem. So is it probably the torque setting or what else am I doing wrong?
The easiest solution - and dumbest? - seems to be buy a new drill. I'd rather avoid that.
One of my drills is a Craftsman, bought in 1986, but not used much.
How to hang a curtain rod!!! PLEEZE!!! Using a drill and whatever else you need!!!
It is really helpful! Great and thank you.
No seriously, this was so helpful. I’ve had a drill for months now and when I ordered it I thought operating it’d be pretty straight forward, but boy was I wrong. So, it’s been sitting in my garage and I’ve just been putting off my planned uses for it. Now, I can use my drill!! Thank you so much 😊
I wanted my own cordless drill for fear of breaking my husband's, and when I went to the store was so overwhelmed. I bought the drill and didn't even realize I should buy the other stuff like the bits, lol. Thanks so much for your perfect paced drill introduction video. Instant subscriber. 👍
Lol I had to go back and buy the rest too!
lololol I can relate sis
This was me , just yesterday 😂😂😂
Oh my gawd I absolutely love how easy you explain how to use power tools and cutting wood. Most men won’t let you touch there tools which leaves us no option to even ask for help. So we turn to UA-cam and I can’t thank y’all enough for the toots y’all do. I’ve asked something so simple as how do you get wood to actually come together and I never got an answer . So thanks so much .
Thank you, I’m soooo happy we can help!! Don’t let tools intimidate you, they are easy once you learn the basics and it’s so empowering to be able to use them yourself! Good luck! ❤️
@@NextJeneration I know I know I know and I have such a passion in me to want to create beautiful things using power tools. I promise y’all are changing ppls lives by these amazing diy’s y’all are doing . I did send ya a message on Facebook seeking some advice . I can’t wait to sit down and watch all of your videos .
I believe in you!! You got this girl ❤️ we’re here for you if you have ANY questions! And I really appreciate your comment, it’s one of the sweetest one I’ve ever gotten ☺️ Going to check FB message now!
Had given up on using my new drill after watching several tutorial videos. Yours made it so easy to understand, thank you.
I did at least watched twice.
Yes to video on drill bits!! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this video.
I’m so happy to hear that!
Thank you I’ve owned this tool for several years and was winging it every time. I don’t need to use it very often but I now feel you gave me a much better understanding of how to use it. Great job!
Just moved into an older home. Trying to do most repairs and decor as a DIY so your videos have been educational and a real money saver!!! Thanks and keep up the good work!
Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.
RIGHT HERE! I’m glad you found us 🥰
Thanks SO much! I just moved across the country for grad school and this is the first time I haven't had my dad around to help me put my furniture together. You made it so clear and simple! Now to assemble my desk....😄
I just bought my first drill and struggled to get the bit into the chuck. This tutorial was very helpful, thanks!
You made it so simple to understand, and your video is more enjoyable than reading the manual for sure. Thank you! :)
Thank you!!
Thank you for your sequence of information. I appreciate the STEP BY STEP info! I am a novice. I didn't know that I needed to match the screw to the bit. No other site mentioned that, but YOU DID!! So, now, my drill bit can push the screw right into the wood, rather that spinning around!! Thank you AGAIN.
Thank you for the very detailed info on the parts of the drill. I stripped many screws not knowing how to use the torque settings. Very helpful.
I’m glad it helps!!!
Thank you for this 😩. I can do chemistry and trigonometry but my new drill had me confused 🤣
😂😂😂 Glad we can help!
Just got my first power drill for mothers day. This was awesome. Thank you so much
Thank you very much for this video. I had no clue how to make it smaller and smaller to fit the drill that I need. I almost gave up on my little project and then I found this video! You guys are lifesavers.😅❤️🙏🏼
Hi, you guys are life savers! I went and bought a whole bunch of tools to use once I bought my house and I didn’t have a clue on how to use them. So, thanks to you guys I know how to use my drill now. 😂😂 thank you so much for this video and I am a new subi because I have a lot more tools I need to learn how to use.
Yay! So happy to hear that!
This is what I need. I am making raised bed for my garden. I didn't even know how screws work. Thank you guys!

I just bought my own drill and needed someone to show me how to assemble the chucks. Thank you for your tutorial as it was most helpful!
Great video. My dad and mom never taught me how to use it and you guys were amazing explaining everything, even the pieces that most people don’t even care to explain😌😌
I’m new and I’m subscribed. I’m a mom and I never get around to learning and ask my neighbour to help me! Finally a great channel I can learn from and get this done!
Girlfriend bought me a teccpo drillbit, you guys made it worth keeping. Thanks a lot
Saved me money, I was gonna buy the screen driver bits which I already had. Never knew until now what the extension chuck bit I had in my toolbox was for.
Liked the way the guys smiled throughout the video
Thank you! I've been intimidated to use my new drill and you broke it down very nicely 😊 I feel like I know what I'm working with now
Yes just learned something today. Thanx a lot. It’s my first thing to use this equipment in my life.
Thanks, so much!!!! Have had to take over some home maintenance and have never had to do it before. Will be watching your other videos.
Few doubts, Plz reply.
1. Is cordless drill good for making holes on masonry and concrete?. In our region houses are made of bricks and concrete.
2. You have shown drill bits for screwing. Should I buy a different set for drilling holes?. I want to use the screws that comes with the plastic thing which goes into the ole first.
3. Is there a danger of drill bit getting off and injuring?.
4. How long the normal battery lasts on the higher torque setting?.
Your video is much clear and better than the 1.6M viewed one in UA-cam.
Thank you!
1: We would recommend a corded drill or a hammer drill to drill into concrete. A cordless drill may be able to do the job, but it may burn out and not last as long doing that much work.
2: Yes, you should buy a different set to “predrill” aka “pilot holes”. You would need a bit a little smaller than the size of the anchor
3: We’ve never had this problem. If the bit has come out, it just falls out, you would put it back into the drill and tighten it as much as possible.
4: The battery life differs depending on the voltage you get. It should tell you on the package how long the battery will last. :)
@@NextJeneration Thank you for the detailed point wise reply. It helped a lot. Thanks again from Kerala state in India.
