    the impact driver literally has a hammer and anvil moving axially.

    😂 short explanation but very informative. Never thought of that too, having not to change the bit so nice to have the drill and driver combo

    Funny thing I actually use the bits the other way around. Drill bit in the impact and driver bit in the drill. I’m usually setting screws to a certain depth or don’t want to overturn them so the drill lets me set the screw at the right depth

      My thoughts exactly. Although a lot of impact drivers have speed settings… you’re supposed to set it to speed 1 on an impact if you’re doing delicate inserts on say: cabinets or drawers… the problem is that no one really takes the time to do this in my work🫠
      The drill also works great for screwing for delicate work as well but at the lowest speed and lowest number from what I recall, but people in my line of work only ever use a drill to make holes… which I can’t really blame them since thats in its name lol

    For small screws a regular drill with impact mode might be good enough for screwing and unscrewing.

    With trigger control on drill mode, on most brands, you can do delicate and tough work with a drill driver. I've put 2000 screws into work at home with my Milwaukee m18 drill driver and put large fasteners and small. Not once did it fail me. Trigger control on the user is key.
    Never once used the impact. It's just so loud. And on speed 1 I can drive monstrous things with the drill driver. Most screws today in construction and most wood don't need pre-drilling. That is only for furniture /cabinet work.
    I guess it's a matter of taste. The compact feel is great though! But then there are compact screw drivers without chucks and drill bits for them.... I guess If you are smashing down hex screws on the construction site all day? I just don't see the greatness of these big impact drivers. Noise is literally deafening too.

    I am still kinda learning how to use my drill as a driver, but I highly recommend using the clutch.
    Figure out which clutch setting allows you to drive the screw without burying it in the wood and snapping your wrist.
    It takes practice, but the drill is much quieter than the impact driver.
    Also, there’s really no need to drill a hole if you’re driving small fasteners like in your video.

    The hammering sound also helps save you from breaking screw heads. Using a drill you wont know till you snap a head off and the impact is letting you know its met heavy resistance and to stop. Promise if you pay attention itll save on screws. Cant speak on ryobi but my dewalt drill will try to spin out of your hands or breaks the srcew head if it meets too much resistance, it doesnt bog down like this.

    Or get this. I can have 2 drills, and using a piece of test lumber, I can set the torque on the second drill to flush set the screws. Usually faster but his way works too. Different ways for different people but at the end of the day if it got built you did a good job

    i used drill only to drive in small lags while putting up small structure for chickens. ruined the little gearbox in my dewalt. Impact driver is built to handle that higher stress / torque.

    • @raduszilagyi6055
      @raduszilagyi6055 11 місяців тому +1

      For me it's the opposite. The advantage of an impact driver is that you can skip pre-drilling. With the impact for short screws it's easy to push just a little too much amd damage the wood

    • @W0pper1997
      @W0pper1997 10 місяців тому

      @@raduszilagyi6055 while this can be true, the longer the screw the more torgue is lost due to twisting of the screw. With a drill and it’s constant torgue that is no issue

    Oh for lord sake.............. you ONLY use an impact driver in situations where a drill would stall out. That's why the impact repeats itself hits over and over....

    Nope, the impact driver does not do little hammering motions. It starts and stops about 50x per minute - but it does not hammer.
