Had Same issue on a 71 plate van today.... Got access to the battery disconnected the negative for 10 seconds, reconnected and it came back to live.... Thanks for being a life saver!
Spot on guys. Saved me waiting another week for Auto Electrician, can't believe it was that simple, bet if I'd gone to a garage they would have sold me a new battery or hour's of investigating. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Man, you just saved me a world of pain, thank you! I was facing shelling out a lot of cash to get towed to a garage and have it repaired but this little tip sorted it instantly.
Amazing! Can't believe I found this video you totally saved me hundreds of pounds in charges to get my van to a garage. I just unscrewed the positive side, lifted it off, put it back, screwed it in place and boom.....engine turned over. Thank you thank you thank you!!
MATE! Thank you so much!! Didnt have a clue what had happened. The battery went flat because I left the ignition on all night! Charged it up fully and no ignition lights! Watched your video and in 1 minute the van was up and running again. I took off the negative lead from the battery for 30 seconds reattached it and it started first turn. WELL DONE AND THANKYOU SIR!
Exactly same problem with Opel Movano B 2013. Battery charged, nothing. all fuses checked, nothing. Bought two OBD scanners from Amazon, neither could connect. I was lost. Than i saw your video. BINGO. You saved my life! 1000 Thanks from Germany! Now I think i have a Win95 Car ;-)
Thank you so much, this does reset the ECU and got me on the road after a flat battery. I charged it in situ. Remove the terminals wait 5 mins and put them back on and it then works.#
So happy That i found this Video, it realy saved my Ass today, i live in Holland and i had to pick up 2 Cars in france, After i loaded the Cars i did. want to Start and Drive back to Holland but nothing happend wen i turnd the Key….. 😱😱😱 After deconect the batery and Connect it again it saved all my Problems and it was time to drive home!!! Thanx for shearing Guys!!! Greet from Holland
YOU LEGEND. Stuck on site in the heat. Was really doing my nut in.. The fitter and "renault' mechanic both couldn't figure it out. Watched this video and had it going in 15min. Thank you so much for posting this video. If your ever near Oxford I'll buy you a pint
I'm in quarantine in Sydney having come back from overseas and friends are having trouble starting my van in Melbourne and I thought it was likely from a low voltage cut off requiring a reset via battery disconnect so searched Google and your video came straight up and there we go. Legends, cheers!
super advice here in wicklow trying to jump start this yoke on two occasions and then decided to jump into the TUBE and found you. like love at first sight worked a treat. Thank you sir.
I was able to solve the problem in the meantime. It is extremely exciting to get information online about a Renault, such as circuit diagrams etc.!!! And the visit to Renault directly was also very helpful... The battery reset didn't help us!!! The ignition lock, fuses and the on-board power supply control unit (BCM) were OK. OBD was also present. But that was where the first anomaly was, the tester only found 4 control units. The DTC 90C329 was entered in the "adaptation module". The UCM module in the engine compartment is referred to as the adaptation module, at least by the non-OEM testers (Could be a type of gateway control unit)!? This is located in the fuse box on the left under the coolant tank. In short, THAT WAS THE ERROR! As there are now providers who offer used control units with a right of return, we decided to go for one of these. It doesn't have to be trained or coded either. Cheers
Brilliant, this worked for me on a 2020 Renault Master. One thing to bare in mind, i had to disconnect both the battery and the leisure battery (motor home) as it was still pulling from the leisure battery for some reason. Thank you so much :)
Worked a treat, was just stuck in the middle of nowhere, AA were 90 mins away. Gave this a chance, worked perfectly! Lucky I had a socket set in the van :D
top man. just had a freak out with a non start up. thing that threw me off from battery issues was i get all the dash lights come up with the ignition in the prime position and then when you go to turn the engine over nothing no clicking either. tried the disconnect procedure and still nothing. am getting over 12v from the battery so put the nocco booster on it and it started clicking which means its not detecting a battery or at least a connection so have put it on trickle charge over night. thanks for the pointer. fingers crossed i can reach my customers tomorrow! cheers!
So it was the "godOld"..Have You tried turning it off and turning it on again ;) The "computerisation" of cars are really "screwing us over" ... Thanks for taking the time and effort of making and sharing :) Best regards.
Hello everyone, First of all, thank you for the video, it shows that our error is apparently typical for the master. But is there anyone else who couldn't solve the problem described in the video or who found something else helpful? Unplugging the battery unfortunately doesn't help with our master. Connecting the plus and minus connections (with the battery disconnected) doesn't help either. But the symptom is completely identical to the error in the video. We have now installed a new battery. But the problem remains. Best regards, Timo
I just connected jump leads straight to my battery and it started ! Thanks for this i will remember if i dont have access to another vehicle. I hate these vans they are total crap, compared to the Volkswagen Crafter that i used to have.
You star! Van was fine on Friday but then wouldn't start yesterday, including no dash lights. Nothing we tried worked, including jump leads, but then tried this and it started first time. Guess it's the mechanical version of turn it off and back on again! Am going to carry the correct sockets etc in the van just in case it happens again.
I had exact same problem but mine did not cure problem but after many months of trying everything else ,changed ecu ,key barrel ,Bcm in glove compartment finally bought new front fuse box unit (under bonnet one) bingo problem cured 👌👍
I've literally spent 4 hours diag in one of these. Testing ign relays. No comms with many modules got it running but what a day. Bastard van. No I got battery current sensor fault that won't clear. Wish I'd have seen this earlier! Haha
Vauxhall Vivaro have the same problem, it happens if you turn the ignition key on and off then back on to fast, the ECU Doesn't like it. the fix is disconnect the battery then re connect and the ECU re sets itself. which is what you did. as they say a job well done
Hi, just watched your video. We have a Renault master that we’ve converted into a camper. On 3 or 4 occasions we’ve been away over night or a couple of nights and woke up to a flat battery. We’ve had a few people look at it but they’ve came up with nothing. Do you think disconnecting our battery and reconnecting could solve our problems? Does doing this almost reset it? Thanks 👌
Yes I am pretty sure this could help ! When you have a flat battery you need to check the voltage on the battery terminals to see if the battery is flat. Campers are notorious for power drain with inverters
Just had same problem yesterday. Cluster not working but fan and radio is working. Disconnect the battery, then 10 mins later put it back on. It started. But my question is. Does this problem happen again later on?
It's a Master, not a Traffic. :-/ And mine has no life in it at all, no clicking when I turn the key over. It only manages to get a small amount of power from borrowed charge from my mate's vehicle but it doesn't store the charge. Might be the starter/alternator.
The fact you would spend all that time disconnecting the battery to carry it over to a small uber light amp tester makes me laugh. Not logical at all. The time involved against other way round and taking battery tester to battery. Big difference. This day and age lots of weird electrical faults can be got around by simply putting lights on full and then disconnect battery. Connect both lead together with lights still on. Wait 30 secs. Then turn lights off. Reconnect battery to an empty system. That works for so many things.
Im work as a mobile mechanic but to know everything is just not possible. Then with electronics, I have a guy I use who fixes the motherboard with all the circuits on and computers. Dont even try to get involved. My sprinter brake light. Bulb would not work. Checked and now power. Fuse not blown. Sent him brake light computer and he fixed it for £100. I have one of these vans as my mobile workshop. So if you ever get stuck on something, try me.
To jump start it from under the bonnet ? You connect the negative to large unpainted metal area in the engine bay - most of the time engine has this metal ring/hook which you can use to attach negative jump lead.
Hi Robert, have you been able to solve the problem in the meantime? Unfortunately, it's the same for me. Disconnecting the battery doesn't solve the problem at the moment!? Best regards

Man, you just saved me a world of pain, thank you! I was facing shelling out a lot of cash to get towed to a garage and have it repaired but this little tip sorted it instantly.
So cool this video is still helping people !

Not too far from you - only in Cirencester - but no need to buy me a drink - it helped that the main thing !
Too good! Same issue in Perth Western Australia, waiting 2 hours for roadside assistance and found this video. Top effort
I'm in quarantine in Sydney having come back from overseas and friends are having trouble starting my van in Melbourne and I thought it was likely from a low voltage cut off requiring a reset via battery disconnect so searched Google and your video came straight up and there we go. Legends, cheers!

Excellent - another person enjoying his van again !
My colleagues food van did this exact thing, you saved me hours of diagnoses, thank you, worked a treat! :)
Good - he can get off to feed the hungry !
Thanks for taking the time to put this up saved me a
Garage visit. Top man 👍👍👍

Thanks for sharing your information - shame your fix was a little more complex.
Same problem with renault master 21 plate. You saved me hours! Many Thanks!

This works. You are a genius. You have just saved my day. Many thanks.
Thank you guys, solved the problem after a few minutes work found the earth cable was a little loose to worked a treat thanks again.
Happy motoring
Your a life saver. Disconnected the battery and it worked. Many thanks for your video
This seems to happen a lot based on the comments that keep coming in ! My van is still going strong !
Worked a treat, was just stuck in the middle of nowhere, AA were 90 mins away. Gave this a chance, worked perfectly! Lucky I had a socket set in the van :D
You are living life and winning Chris ! glad it helped.
I’ve got one of these Renault Master gunships, so thank you for the heads up.....never know when I may need to use this technique.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿

Hello, I have the same problem. Please suggest a solution.
I just connected jump leads straight to my battery and it started ! Thanks for this i will remember if i dont have access to another vehicle. I hate these vans they are total crap, compared to the Volkswagen Crafter that i used to have.
wish i didn't read your post, we just bought a 5 year old today 1?
Mine still going well.... she is a gem !
Same AAcouldnt start it. Watched your video bloody marvellous. Thank you 🙏
The joys of French Transport !

So happy to hear it has helped another person !
Thanks worked for me. Instead of using the jumpstarting point in front (wich didnt work) i did i directly to the battery and it started first try.
Thank you guys, that helps me a lot on a new renault diabolo 2021, i cant belive it Was only that 👍👍👍
Wow glad it helped !
I had exact same problem but mine did not cure problem but after many months of trying everything else ,changed ecu ,key barrel ,Bcm in glove compartment finally bought new front fuse box unit (under bonnet one) bingo problem cured 👌👍

It goes into safe mode. Normally because you need a full service. Or a sensor starting to pack up. 👍
Thank so much Boss, u saved me 🎉
Happy to help
Thank you. It also works on a Renault Master Camper from 1984
It's worked and for me thanks
Very helpfull
Thank you so much, this saved my day
Worked for me thanks 🙏
Thanks mate worked a treat
hello, how long does it take to remove the negative? because I tried it for 10 minutes and it doesn't work! thank you
Great help thanks.

so far its all good for me.....
Still no problems 18 months later.... odd

James mate... how else did i become so buff ?
But with that accent and buff im guessing, gay pride living in brighton and just stamped out your desire. Ha ha
Im joking
@@jamesbarratt593 Its cool - of course i was joking too... your idea is better... not sure why i took the whole battery out !
Im work as a mobile mechanic but to know everything is just not possible. Then with electronics, I have a guy I use who fixes the motherboard with all the circuits on and computers. This happen to me today , will try it tomorrow
Did it work ?
@@L663 yes, ha do no problem since
The zip ties on the commonly broken oil intake !
This Fault is caused by under bonnet fuse box unit 👌👍
Interesting - but i have not had this issue again since doing this fix - and that was years ago now and i still have the van.... so i am not sure...
Hi Barry, do you know what's the problem at the fuse box? We have exactly your Problem. The Battery reset doesn't work for us!
Cheers Timo
Thanks it's nice
I had same problem today. I left van for an hour with battery still connected and it started first time. Weird
French !
Good
Thanks
Would you trust a motor mechanic who can't tell the difference between a Renault Trafic and a Master ????????????????????
Clearly a lot of people do judging by the views / likes and comments..... and who said i was a mechanic...
u didnt show where the negative goes…
To jump start it from under the bonnet ? You connect the negative to large unpainted metal area in the engine bay - most of the time engine has this metal ring/hook which you can use to attach negative jump lead.
Yeah that’s a works van! Needs service and brake pads! 😂
Salut
Merci !
