Starting keto and fasting little over a year and a half ago, a few months ago I did my first 72 hour fast a few months ago at almost 60, today I am no longer allergic to butter fat and I was also a hay fever sufferer all my life and didn't even realize till a few weeks ago I had absolutely no issues with hay fever this fall, Thanks you Dr Berry for your guidance through this journey 🙏 and lastly I am down 50 lbs.

Great clip!! I have a semi-annual struggle with my Cardiologist who is frustrated that I won't take a statin for my high LDL (385). The first time I ever saw him he told me I had 'familial hypercholesterolemia' because my LDL was so high. I told him that I didn't and he was surprised I even knew what it was. I told him that until I began eating low carb, my LDL moved between 150 and 190, and I did take statins at that time. I told him I had severe muscle pain and brain fog while taking them, and would never take them again. At my visit last week, he even dictated into his computer that I 'refused' to take any oral or injectable medication for the LDL, at which point I piped up and said "I sure do"! He doesn't even consider my other excellent metabolic markers; Trig/HDL ratio less than 1, A1C of 5.3, Insulin of 7, CAC of 7 (at age 71)and having held onto a 95 lb weight loss since 2017!

I had the same conversation with my GP yesterday, and she was insistent. And I thought later, you know it is my body. And unless they physically hold me down every day and force me to take their LDL meds, I am not doing it. I live in Canada, and you never know what they will legislate to allow medical to do. Our medical system does not care if the medication causes you to lose your job or become a vegetable; they have a solution for that, and it is assisted suicide. The entire free medical system in Canada is focused on you never being better, and when you become better through your own management of food, they are hell-bent on getting you enslaved. I am sure what they will say is that because I refused to take a drug to lower my LDL, they will cut me off of my Testosterone for the condition of Klinefelter's syndrome, which, by doing that, will leach calcium from my bones and muscles and result in death. This just seems to be the Canadian system.
The other thing I find stupid about LDL is in Canada, it is not a measured value but calculated, and I know from experience if I fast over 48 hours before the blood work, the level of LDL will be average; in fact, I tried a fast for 84 hours, and the LDL was within the best range. So it is like Dr. Adam Nally says, unless you sample LDL daily for months you can not based medication on one sample once a year, it is a building block of the body and changes.

Ruth, I wrote this to my Nurse Practitioner: Why I will not take a Statin to lower LDL
Many or most of the people who have gone Carnivore were in dire straights. If they did not do something, they were going to die. Things were not looking good for them. They were desperate to find relief from chronic disease suffered for decades. They go Carnivore. All markers of health improve… except LDL. The so-called bad cholesterol goes up. The doctors say you need statins. You need to stop this Carnivore nonsense. Or maybe, their understanding of LDL is wrong. That is the correct answer. Their understanding is wrong. They are not understanding. They are not even attempting to understand. The doctors are parroting what big Pharma is telling them. LDL is not the “bad” cholesterol. Every cell of your body needs cholesterol. Hormones need cholesterol. LDL delivers cholesterol from the liver to the body.
Ancel Keys was paid to shift the blame for heart disease from sugar to cholesterol. He conducted the 7 Country Study and the Minnesota Coronary Experiment and lied about the results of each. He downplayed the role of smoking in relation to heart disease. He developed the K-Ration (K for Keys) which included 4 cigarettes per ration. This is the person we trusted. He promoted the use of highly processed seed oils to replace natural fats from animals. Ancel Keys convinced the world that President Dwight D. Eisenhower had a heart attack because he consumed too much fatty red meat. Never mind that he was a heavy smoker. He was placed on the cover of Time magazine and made a national hero. With the world now focused on cholesterol, the pharmaceutical companies began developing drugs to lower cholesterol and cash in on this new interest.
Studies have shown that 75% of heart attacks occur in people with normal cholesterol. It could be inferred from this, that the problem is not cholesterol. But instead, it is decided that what they call normal cholesterol needs to be shifted much lower. This contradicts the unintended results of the Minnesota Coronary Experiment and the Sydney Diet Heart Study. In both studies it was found upon recovering the original data, that those with higher cholesterol lived longer.
RELATIVE VERSUS ABSOLUTE STATISTIC RESULTS: Statistical trick to promote statins: Take for example 100 people not on statins. In 5 years, 2 of them have a heart attack. Take 100 people on statins. In 5 years, only 1 has a heart attack. Without statins 2 people had a heart attack. With statins only 1 person had a heart attack. This result can be reported 2 ways: The reduction from 2 heart attacks to 1 heart attack is an improvement of 50%. There were half as many heart attacks. Sounds great. But in reality the reduction was 1 less heart attack out of 100 people. That is a reduction of 1%. That is the trick that was used. The first example is called “relative risk”. The second example is called “absolute risk”. Relative risk versus absolute risk. If statins are so effective, then why resort to statistical tricks. (Google: “Benefits of statins may have been overstated.”) Watch UA-cam: KenDBerry “Statin Deception”.
LITIGATION AGAINST STATIN: Why is there no ambitious lawyer or firm trying to cash in on statin money considering the fact that instead of giving patients honest information to make an informed decision, they were given intentionally misleading data, alternately manipulated by relative risk and absolute risk. Relative risk enhanced an appearance of benefit. Absolute risk minimized the concern of harmful effects. It does not stop there. It does not even start there. It starts with hiding the fact that cholesterol was never the problem. But they had a drug to sell. They had the cure for high cholesterol so they needed to convince people that high cholesterol was bad. Not just bad but real bad. If you did not take their pill, you would have a heart attack or a stroke. The re-evaluation of the Minnesota Coronary Experiment showed high cholesterol is a marker for longevity. Cholesterol is not harmful, it is protective.
A better marker for heart disease and heart attack risk is HDL. If HDL is high, risk is low. The Triglyceride / HDL ratio is also used. My Triglycerides are low at 67. My HDL is high at 64. 67 / 64 = 1.04. Less than 2 is good. I am at low risk for heart disease. My triglyceride / HDL ratio also indicates that I do not have metabolic syndrome.
I trust that my low triglycerides and high HDL are markers for good health. Since I am in good health, my LDL is good even if it does not fit the guidelines which I do not trust. Now you can counter that I trust the triglyceride and HDL guidelines but choose not to trust the LDL guidelines. Yes, that is correct.
Dr. Nick Norwitz: (From his website) He graduated Valedictorian from Dartmouth College in 2018, majoring in Cell Biology and Biochemistry. He then completed his PhD in Metabolism at the University of Oxford in 2021, before attending Harvard Medical School to complete his MD. XXX He has a UA-cam channel. Among his videos, he has one where he ate 24 eggs a day for 30 days. His cholesterol did not go up. His point was; dietary cholesterol does not affect your serum cholesterol. In another video, he used Oreo cookies to lower his cholesterol. The Oreo cookie experiment demonstrates that the dietary change to lower my cholesterol would be to add carbohydrates. It seems to me, like so many other things, the context must be considered. If your fuel is carbohydrates; then the liver does not need to deliver as many fatty acid packages (LDL goes down). If your fuel is fatty acids; then the liver needs to deliver more fatty acid packages (LDL goes up). If they are going to assign a normal range for LDL it must be in the context of carb diet or keto / carnivore diet.
There is too much controversy surrounding statins and cholesterol. I tried to convince a friend to stop taking statins. I sent him information of how the harms of cholesterol is exaggerated; the benefits of statins are overstated; and the side effects of statins are downplayed. His doctor convinced him to continue taking them. She cited the “little known benefits” of statins. Are you kidding me. If there were little known benefits of statins, the statin manufacturers would make certain that they were well known. He believes he was let in on a little known secret and is so lucky to have a well informed doctor who is one of the few privileged to be in the know of such information.
Google: What High Cholesterol Does To You Podcast (Dr. Diamond)
British Medical Journal (June 2016): People with higher LDL live longer!
Google: BMJ Open: “Lack of an association or an inverse association between low-density-lipoprotein cholesterol and mortality in the elderly: a systematic review.” Conclusion: High LDL is inversely associated with mortality in most people over 60 years.
The Minnesota Coronary Experiment (1968-1973). One group included saturated fat in their diet. The other group replaced saturated fat with vegetable oil (seed oil). The seed oil group had the lower cholesterol. The saturated fat group had higher cholesterol and lived longer! Same for the Sydney Diet Heart Study.

I think it's important to emphasize that the _system_ physicians are trapped in is the key problem. Not, usually, the physicians themselves. These are typically compassionate people who set out to help others, and then are systematically transformed (by the education and health institutions) into rapid-diagnosis drug-pushers with heavy bureaucracy burdens who have no time to think or do research for themselves. These physicians often end up as sick and drugged as their patients, because they truly don't know the truth about what's good for them; and physicians commit suicide at high rates. It's an incredibly stressful (and often depressing) job.
What I'm hoping is that RFK and other reformers will help to change the institutional landscape so that these well-meaning people can be less pressured by the harmful forces, and have more access to the most up-to-date truly evidence-based research. It would be so freeing for so many physicians who feel confused and trapped and harried by a system that isn't giving them time or resources to think or breathe.

I don't know what's the big deal about taking statin. I've been on it since I was 40 and I'm now 68 years old and my liver have no problem. I just had a nuclear test and no blockages in my heart. I am more afraid of a heart attack or stroke than on it. My husband had a quadruple bypass operation in 2010. He was on statin, but he stopped it by himself, and he got a coronary disease. He is doing good, and his cholesterol is low.

I love Dr. Bret Scher! I learned so much from him and his podcast years ago! I was naive enough to think my cardiologist would be interested in hearing about the low carb woe that allowed me to lose 50 pounds, get my blood pressure down to normal, and get off 6 Rx meds. But no, he had huge posters about how wonderful canola oil was on the wall, he was fixated on the fact that I stopped taking the highest possible dose of simvastatin I was on, and he fired me as a patient without even seeing what had happened with my health since the last time I saw him. I have been without a primary, obgyn, and cardio doctor for over 3 years. I’m not arrogant enough to feel I don’t need a doctor at my age, but I’m not going to be bullied or treated like a child.

I constantly exercise and am not overweight (5’2”, 110). After 6 months, muscle weakness. He stopped the statin. I finally just decided to change my diet and go low carb. Cholesterol went from 260->216, ldl 160->94, triglycerides 185->52. Thanks to Dr. Berry and Lustig for UA-cam and explaining how cholesterol is really produced. My new Nurse Practitioner offi e finally called after 9 days with my blood work results. I am a 54 yr old white woman who is currently overweight but no diabetes, or high cholesterol. Her nurse stated NP was worried about bad cholesterol being high. I asked what it was and was told 109. I was like all my adult life my bad cholesterol runs from 122 to 135 max. Good cholesterol was in the 70s. I asked what the base line was, and she stated 100 and that shocked me because I was always told anything over 200 bad cholesterol was time to start thinking of statins. I am looking for a new, honest, PCP that truly cares about my health not big pharma kick backs.

Fact that chosen few will be able to enjoy the fruits of uncompromized scientific efforts is not enough to revolutionase human nutrition and fight metabolic diseases at their roots !!!!
Authorities smart enough...influential enough..and human friendly enough should broadly participate in changing the national health policies.
This will not happen without proper introduction and scientific explantation as well as thorough analysis of current corrupted corporate medicine and farmaceutical conglomerates.
