"By the Pain I See in Others" still waiting in the wings.. c'mon guys
Heritage is a very weird and different album. I don't think you can fully appreciate it on your first listen. I really like it in the background, along with their other three prog rock albums. Just listening to them while doing tedious repetitive shit in a video game made me really develop a soft spot for them.
These guys don't have the slightest musical background, nor do they have any idea where the roots of the sound that the latest Opeth offer are.
@@MrWirikuta so what
I've been subscribed to them for a few years now, I've seen them check out a lot of my favorite bands. They understand music.
@@darkphoenix2 listening to two Rush songs isn't exactly what I mean. This Opeth album has its roots in progressive rock inspired by bands like Camel, Uriah Heep, Genesis etc...
Before I listen I gotta share this story about Heritage. Originally Opeth went into the studio after Watershed intending to do another heavy album like all the rest. And they did. They recorded the tracks, and going over them as a band they felt like it was missing something essential to Opeth. They've always valued the ability to keep changing and not denying where their journey takes them.
So, they deleted that album and then just banged out Heritage. It wasn't entirely planned, and written and recorded quickly.
I started listening to Opeth in 2000, right after BWP released, and by the time Heritage released it felt like this change was a long time in the works. In a way, Opeth's entire 20ish years of existence up to then was something you needed to experience to understand why Heritage was a very good album, if not their most memorable.
Heritage is in my opinion a very underrated album, I would've chosen a different song from this album though lol. You would love I Feel The Dark.
A strange and mellow Opeth on this album, which is still a very rewarding listen once you get it.
Beneath The Mire for coming back to The growls and The energy
Opeth is touring again and there is a lot of speculation lately they might be gearing up for a new album that could be returning to some more death metal kind of stuff like they used to do. New drummer that seems to be really reinvigorating the band and helping them play faster again, setlist that contains mostly old stuff, and Mikael's growls have been sounding particularly good live recently, like he has been practicing. Not to mention they just seem like they are really having a lot of fun playing the death metal stuff in some of the most recent concert videos. I remain hopeful.
Yeah they played here in Finland two weeks ago and played only older heavy songs and everything sounded so good and fast.
I’m seeing them Halloween night in San Fran! Really excited to see their newfound energy live!
Bro called it
do you work in CIA brother?
This album is great but I gotta agree these 2 songs are the most zzz out of it, if any they should react to I feel the dark, häxprocess or folklore
Heritage is awesome as background relaxing (and depressing lol) music.
So I checked the playlist for Opeth, and this was the 53'rd song featured on the channel. Consider the fact that it took 53 songs from the same artist before checking out :>
This is definitely an album that requires many listen before to appreciate it, still I would have never recommended this song, is hard to digest. Face in the snow is lovely tho. I think that "River" is one of the best missing from the new opeth and 2 days ago they released a new single, Mikael is growling again ❤
Face in the snow is actually a bonus track, the band knew that it is not an album mood or something. So you have listened to the bonus and a small ending piece (marrow) after song "folklore", one of the greatest of opeth. No wonder your reaction was as it was
Well new..... It's 13 years old album and recorded 14-15 years ago
Thank you for your honest reaction and well understanding of their musicianship change. For me personally, this is magic, actually ! It's not gonna always be intense and unpredictable. This is actually a difference between a real unique complete band with some just other band that repeats itself, in my opinion ! These 2 songs are something special to me and there's just something silent and sad about it :-) but I get it, if it doesn't work for you guys. We'll wait for "By The Pain I See In Others".
Listen to Continuum and Lovelorn crime
my recommendation goes for "Adventt" - Opeth. (Live person at Royal albert hall).
This is NOT Funeral Portrait, Demon of the Fall, or Serenity Painted Death..............☠🤷♂
First!
😂
Still loving y’all reaction videos
Beneath the mire!!!!!!
I think this album is about paying homage to their influences. It's definitely not one that every Opeth fan is going to like.
I'm a die hard Opeth fan, but I've never understood this album either. Slither and Lines In My Hand are okay. But if you're gonna listen to newer stuff then their latest album is the way to go.
I think the devil's orchard or i feel the dark would have been better picks for this album
These two songs are the softest songs on the album. Very good songs in my opinion, but there are some pretty cool and jamming songs on the Heritage album.
Folklore is a great song from this album as well. But this is their weakest album in my opinion.
Ah, Opeth's big turd. I'm a die-hard fan but can't get through 20 minutes of this album.
It's definitely Opeth but there was always something missing in this new prog rock direction. There's a lot of interesting stuff for sure, but the magic and the intensity is gone, at least for me. Love your honest opinion guys, It's something I deeply appreciate.
Their last album was total magic to me personally ! A great example of mixing heavy dark tones with melodic character, but I understand why those 3 albums don't work for some listeners. It's all about personal taste I guess. Here in my country, the newer stuff and mellow songs are totally popular and gold because of depression :-))
@@ShervinTheDeath It's just not the same Opeth, personal taste has nothing to do with it. There's nothing wrong liking the new stuff, It's just not the same vibe, period. I don't hate it but I don't love it either.
Meh, not a huge fan of Opeth from this album on
Their new stuff is so boring. I've tried multiple times to listen to this album and everything after it and I just can't do it. I understand and appreciate bands have to grow and evolve but this is horrible....to me.
