Jesse cracked me up at 1:03:10, using nuclear power to bring a gacha character to life. Edit: About fully voicing FF XIV, in my opinion it would be a waste of time/money/effort to fully voice the old content considering this is a live service and it'll eventually be taken down anyway. If this could be run standalone in a few decades, even after the live service has been taken down, I think it may be worth it. Also, thank you for that amazing show! I thoroughly enjoyed it!
They also can't voice some of the dialogue since it's using our character names. Unvoiced cutscenes gives the characters an actual chance to use it, when we're only referenced or "you" in voiced dialogue.
I will go out on a limb and say the intro could probably be 15-20 seconds max. A little music and references to the hosts, and then right into the show. As you suggested JP, the analytics say most people are skipping it as it is.
Does the average podcast listener actually like lengthy intros? I can understand if it's mostly there for vibes and getting listeners in the mood, but as you said, a 15s intro achieves the same thing. I'm not gonna act like this is the end of the world but it is inconvenient when I'm preoccupied with a random task and the next podcast in queue has a 60s intro that I need to pull out my phone to skip. It's just a mild annoyance that doesn't have to be there
during the AI dialogue portion, Jesse said, "If you're not good at reading" with literally zero sarcasm or shade and I just want to say that warms my heart.
I would want a Goblin Slayer-esque Elden Ring show. Episodic quests of bad assness that turns out to have an impactful season arc. I can't see how a show would work outside of anime.
After discussing a potential Elden Ring TV show, I gotta mention the manga adaptation Road to the Erdtree. It's a full comedy gag manga following the beats of a playthrough of Elden Ring but where the MC is an idiot and Melina keeps trying to allocate int to make him smarter. It's brilliant, the best way I could ask for a souls game to be adapted
Seems to make sense I guess? I haven't seen anything about him and his wife/xwife on Twitter in ages. hell even there Bourben cooking show hasn't done anything. plus apparently, he was living in what? Arkansas or some shit for a while?
For folks show don't know, they got divorced. You can probably find a twitch clip about where both of them are there talking about it. It was amicable, they announced it actually months after they had personally decided to do it so they had already gone through all the emotional damage over it. So the announcement was pretty matter of fact. They seem to be splitting on good terms. But that's also why JP has moved back to Texas and was staying in a temporary place for a while
To be fair UA-cam community posts make way more sense now. Like for a poll of a discussion, the kind of thing you used to do on twitter. It just seems to on average get way more engagement on UA-cam, like a mid sized content creator with like 70k subscribers can regularly get a hundred replies on a community post. Whereas on twitter that same content creator might get 5 replies. It doesn't seem like something that will convert into a lot of money for UA-cam if any buy like in terms of utility for a creator it's decent. Like its way less likely to go viral and leave your community and invite harassment onto you, it seems way better at targeting your audience than twitter is. Like I know several UA-camrs who have moved their general shit posting to UA-cam community posts because they can have a bit of fun make some jokes get some replies and they don't have to deal with the baggage of twotter
I've watched every episode of this show with the curruent intro. And I haven't skipped it once. But I also never skip the intro of a tv series. So i guess I'm s really special snowflake 🤷♂️
I doubt the people complaining about Erdtree’s difficulty “forgot how to play”. A lot of the people complaining about unbalanced difficulty are veterans who replay the souls games all the time.
@@truebeliever401 all the complaints about balancing are from people who have completed all the previous souls games. You only have to look at the negative user reviews online to see it, but even if you didn’t it should be common sense. Why would someone who has never played the previous games be complaining that this one has worse balancing than those games?
@@BasketCase-rr7tx and many other veterans said the DLC is fine (go see Cohh's and Moist Critical's video and see the comments). This can go both ways, we both can make the same point to support our claims. But whats very clear is that, it seems that FromSoft clearly want the player (however skilled they are) to level up using the new progression mechanic. Otherwise, bosses will do too much damage and you will do too little. They had to balance the DLC around players being full build. With regards to balance, I have been playing FromSoft games for years now, and with every new release, there's always a boss(es) that the community complains about. But one boss that was commonly complained about by most, is Commander Gaius. The rest are very polarizing in terms of difficulty (which is normal). Different bosses can vary in difficulty for different players/builds.
@@truebeliever401 well by “veterans” you are talking about different people than me. I was just talking about people who are fans of the series. You’re talking about content creators who are using this as an opportunity to act like they are better at games than other people, which they very well may be, but it’s also not really the point here.
@@BasketCase-rr7tx i don't follow many non-lore FromSoft veterans, but i watch "Chase the Bro" and "FightingCowboy" and they both had a reasonably difficult time in the DLC bosses from their first playthroughs but nothing out of the ordinary except for (again) commander gaius. "reasonably difficult" as in normal soulsborne first time playthrough struggles. I guess you could include the final boss (name isn't mentioned for spoilers), but i think the Final boss can be regarded as an exception because its meant to be a very difficult challenged and one of the most difficult bosses FromSoft have ever released. With regards to the complaints, soulsborne games have always had boss(es) in each installment that had the community fuming about balance. This time however, this is happening during the discussion of the GENERAL difficulty of the DLC and the game. With many new players review bombing the game claiming "its too difficult". So, the issue arises when the people complaining about the general difficulty of the DLC are citing the community's balance discussion as evidence for the DLC being too difficult. Im not saying there couldn't be balance problems, im saying that even with those balance problems you can still beat the game AND the DLC with proper builds and mechanics. Also you need to remember, balance problems swing both ways. You can have a broken strong build that trivializes the boss fight. If a casual mele-only, no summoning player such as myself can complete the DLC, so can everyone else. From my point of view, the people complaining about the difficulty are like people that buy a ticket for a Horror movie, watch it and complain there was too many jump scares.
I didn't find Shadow of the Erdtree to be that difficult. Maybe it was due to my STR/FAI build, or that I've been through the game so many times. But I destroyed the DLC, even without using any summons (NPC or Spirit Ashes). The boss that I struggled the hardest on was Commander Gaius (the boar rider). I expected it to be the last boss, because I heard rumors that he's insanely tough, but my build destroyed him. Only took me 4 tries. Definitely had some really fun fights and some really cool areas, probably my favorite FromSoft DLC up to this point, taking the title from Old Hunters.
There's nothing wrong with your build. As in, its probably not OP or broken. As jesse said, people likely forgot how to play the game and jumped straight into the DLC. I am running a pure STR build with a little bit of INT. I got through the DLC just fine playing with a variety of colossal weapons. Note that i also didn't use a single summon throughout the DLC or the base game. I'm not even a hardcore souls fan, im honestly as casual as it gets
Its funny because for me Gaius was by far the easiest story/main boss (not counting like random side bosses) that I fought. I didnt even need a shield for him just 2h wep no summons no spirit. meanwhile for other bosses like dancing lion I needed summons and spirits and for rellana/mesmer I did them solo but I had a big shield helping me.
